Read every single page the other day actually, lol. Reading the one the RX7 guys had right now, and looking at the Supra kits a bit.
It really is going to be ridiculously overkill in a FWD honda, but I'm doing it for proof of concept and learning, not for making a fast car.
The turbos look pretty impressive, a bit outta my range of expertise but I don't mess with very often. The only thing I ever turbo'd was my go-kart. Stock turbo from a Chrysler LeBarron on a 6 HP Briggs and Stratton, which got it to top at 56 but that was just a chain drive and one wheel.
Anyway Rofl, you seem to have your head around wagovans to a high extent, and I kinda need your help. My roomie's wagovan is still having problems with random rev limits, now I've read on a ton of other forums that it's probably the ignitor but could also be the VSS and being it's an 89 it's in the gauge cluster. The speedo cable is broke so the vss isn't able to do it's job. Could that be causing the problem or is there something else I'm missing?
Sorry for off topic, but not even Google can help me at this point.
Yeah, not an issue. What do you mean by random rev limits, though? Like you can floor it and it just stops revving at X? Or it runs out of umph trying to rev it?
If you suspect the distributor at all, pull it apart. Get some sand paper. There are four points on the cap that distribute spark. Sand the corrosion off of them. Then the igniter. Sand the tip of it and get the corrosion off of it as well. Same treatment to the rotor once you've got all of that cleaned up. This can all be done by taking the 3 8mm bolts loose and just pulling the cap off. You don't even have to unplug the spark plug wires.
The two problems I always have with any of my hondas are the distributor, or the main fuel relay.
Oh. and I really don't think the VSS would do that, but i'll take a look in my book and see if it could be causing problems like that. Wiring diagrams, Awayyy!
does it have a AFM or a MAF? because i know on certain cars if they go bad or get unplugged it can act like it has a really low rev limiter
for example on sr20's it makes it stop revving at 3000rpm
OBD0 hondas have MAP sensors IIRC.
what are you even doing on here lol, you need to be off getting light burns from a welder
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
i really want to see this 1000hp 1 point somethin liter compound boosted fwd honda
[editline]22nd March 2011[/editline]
just thinking about doing something like that makes me want to go get some car with absolutely no aftermarket support and try to turbo it.
......
You know, I really don't know what I'm doing here. Waiting I guess. I need to sell another car so I have the funds to get the rest of my setup. Still need another turbo and some metal. I want to make it out of stainless steel but I don't have any experience welding stainless.
Damn, guy has a Civic Wagon near me for $250. It has a snapped cam, I have another to toss in it though. I'd love it if it were a RT4WD or 4WD, and D16A6. I'd probably chip the PM6 and slap all my CRX's turbo stuff and suspension on it, then sell the CRX back all stock.
Something about having a slammed turbo AWD civic makes me hyynnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh....!
dooooo eeeeet
even if it was fwd they're still awesome
He told me its already gone D:
Yep, Jap and I just went to see it the other day and I was informed the very next day it had been snagged by someone already. *sigh*
I just want something cleaner than my beat up old 'rex.
i want something cleaner than my beat up old 240

thats why im saving for a sc300 :q:

lol. I want another EF-generation Civic. 88-91 Sedan, Wagon, Hatch, I don't give a fuck, as long as it is already MPFI and standard.
My wagon isn't MPFI. I've got all of the stuff off of a D16Y8 to slap on it though.
Speaking of which, you wouldn't happen to know someone with a spare M/T PM6, would you? I don't want to pay $200 for a bone stock ECU on Ebay. Fucking ricer tax.
It's really the last thing I need to start my build, but I'm not going to blow that much money on a $20 part =/ I can get Megasquirt for $200.
Hmm. I think I've seen a few around for ~$40 or so.
My friend is running a M/T PM6 in his CRX, but it's an auto. I'm sure if you had an auto one he'd swap you.

Good deal on a few here.
Only ECU I have laying around is a PM8, unfortunately.
put in the order for my new engine + gears + digital speedometer. fucking wheels making my speed inaccurate and getting me a $75 speeding ticket :v:
$75? Fuck.

Fuck tickets.
yeah, plus i was only like 8km's over the limit apparently. and people thought cops couldn't get tickets :v:
Yeah bullshit on that, I have a few cop friends who have gotten tickets. Haha. It isn't as uncommon as people think it is.
yeah, its funny, we have a tally on who has gotten the most expensive ticket. i'm loosing. :c

or winning, it depends which way you look at it haha
So Japfeiffer might be helping me get a new civic, found a '95 CDM Si Coupe on craigslist today for ~$800 OBO, has "an issue with TPS" and won't rev past 2k. Tanabe exhaust and short throw shifter, D16Y7 block with JDM D15B head. A good base for a new turbo project! ;)
Going to try and look at it thursday and make him a low offer, Jap will spot me the cash and I'm going to pay him some interest when I sell my Rex.
After driving BBS E30 "13 that was not so good to drive with (scraping the oil pan)
Ive tried these "14's but they run against the inside of the coilover,so a no go :(
The search for wheels has begun once again (getting ready for meetingseason 2011)

By random rev limits, I mean every so often it'll try to cut the RPMs like its out of gear and it's being gunned. The last dizzy on it wouldn't let it get above 1500 rpms what so ever, hence the "new" dizzy. But it seems this one has a bit of the same problem. The cap and rotor are new and before I put the replacement dizzy in I cleaned off all the terminals, so it'd really burn my ass if I forgot to clean any. I'd like to know what kinda readings I'm supposed to get testing the ignitor with an ohm meter, so I can see whether it's bad or not and I searched the O'mighty Google but came up with nothing.

I'm not sure what an AFM or MAF is. Is that like Active Fuel Management or something? The engine in it is a little D15B2 with PGM-FI and nothing fancier then that. I do know where the map sensor is, I unplugged it and found if it goes, the car wont run. Heh...
[editline]23rd March 2011[/editline]
I just re-read my question... it kinda makes me sounds like a dumb ass. I know alot, just not as much as I probably should.

Fucking. Do it. I've got a 96 coupe, but I'm selling it. EG coupes are cool as shit.
I changed my airfilter, the old one was the original from 1989, and I also changed my girlfriend's oil in her little Honda Accord.
I'm going to try working on getting my rear passenger door from being stuck shut and hopefully fix its mechanism today if I find the time.
My Cherokee will get many posts in this thread :allears:
Bought it today and I'm picking it up tomorrow
sssooooo buying it was what I worked on today :v:
Working on a 1996 Taurus right now. Hasn't ran in like a year and a half. Lols are being had.
Fucking. Do it. I've got a 96 coupe, but I'm selling it. EG coupes are cool as shit.
Well it wasn't an actual CDM Si, just an EX with a ricey Si badge.
Still looking into it though, it is low as fawk and has blox suspension all around, a good base for the parts I already have.
Just bought an Edelbrock turbo mani and adapter flange. Lol.
I had a 1997 Taurus and I rolled that shit. Just got some glass cuts in my arm, Tauruses are safe cars, they just look like poo.
