so i bled Bug #2's brakes today.. turns out brake line running from master cylinder to the rear brakes has a tiny little pin hole in it overall the line looks pretty shitty so i just went down and bought like 6 1/2 feet of new brake line, took out the old brake line and started routing the new one. once that new line is in and the brakes get re-bled, i'll move on the patching up the big battery sized hole that used to be the battery tray behind the passenger seat then paint the floor pans (flat black looks WAY better than shitty surface rust..) oh and i changed the pea shooter exhaust tips.. only cost like $30 for the new tips and they look 1000x better than the old rusty crusty tips that i pulled out. i rather like the sound of the stock exhaust, i think if/when i change it i'm just going to move up to an "upgraded" stock style exhaust instead of a quiet pack suitcase muffler
So sometime here in the near future, I'm prolly gonna be doing a 350 build. Just something simple as it is going to be my DD, The Catalina. The trans is going to be swapped out for something newer and not 3 speed because tis old and has 112k miles on it. So what would the resident car gurus recommend in parts as I'm not familiar with brands... yet. Also, no brain type stuff if possible.
I paid for my engine today, It won't be done for a while, but I can't wait to see the motor in the car agian. I think Im going to spend my Saturday taking the Mustang off the stands and detailing it, that is after the small photoshoot I have..
[t]http://puu.sh/1iz83[/t] Windy and cold as fuck so I didn't get to do much, but the lights are yellow!
but it's not french!
Pressure tested my car today but I found no leaks. This is the most aggravating thing >.<
toyota had a great deal on oil filters so i bought 3 for 12 bucks. Then autozone had a great deal so i have a bag of scotts shop wipes, hand soap for oil, a small funnel, a pan, an extra oil filter (got my friends trucks model because i dont need that many and i dont stp filters), and 5 qts of mobil 1 5000 mile oil for 21 dollars. Time to change my oil.
Well... I installed a set of 38lb injectors and they work perfectly, except once I installed them I remembered they were low impedance and I use high impedance injectors. Whoo
grab a resistor box from a Honda, they are ridiculously cheap and that's all you need to use low impedance injectors. An Accord (90-93) box will work best, plentiful and cheap.
The volvos have resistor packs I can snag, it's just a pain in the ass.
Trans shop said something was clearly burnt up in the 727 and they just finished pulling it out of the car. I hope they had fun getting it out past the headers. Roasted clutches in a newly rebuilt transmission after 10 minutes of driving around the block. Real nice, guys, I can see I gave my money to the right people.
The aamco by my parents house is pretty damn good. I dont mean to stand over the mechanics shoulder but they tell you exactly what they are going to do and if they deviated what they did as well as not charging for bullshit. Diamond in the rough I guess.
Diamond in the rough I guess.
Must be the only one in the country that has a good manager.
bearings are bad in my alternator, making the most embarrassing squeaking sound "yo you got a bad pulley or somethin?" "nah its just my supercharger" ordered new bearings and a speedometer gear so i can stop using the fucking gps to see how fast i'm going and an oem motorcraft oil filter c:
Looks like i need a new battery,damned.
Used to leave my old trucks lights on all the time, jumper cables were my best friend. Now my truck beeps at me if I leave them on and it is the best thing in the world. Stupid enough to have locked my keys in my car once or twice, once while running. Also, thought my battery was dead once because it wouldnt turn over. I had it in R not P. This was back when the gear notification light was out so I didnt know.
Well ive checked some papers on the history of the car and it looks like the battery is almost 10 years in use lol.I has not been replaced since it left the factory.Looks like an OEM battery too. This can't be right ?Or can it?
Yep, I had my last battery last 9 years.
So took some pics of the damaged control arm bushings on my audi. Driver Side. Top Left. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/Canon%20T3i/Control%20Arm%20Issues/driver/IMG_1774.JPG[/t] Top Right. everything's fucked REPLACE EVERYTHING
I finished wiring the CRX's OBD0-OBD1 harness and felt... *sigh*... "VTEC yo!" for the first time. I also put speedometer cable in. And put a little gas in it. And finished polishing it then my dad sprayed cleaner all over it and ruined my polish... FOR FUCK'S SAKE, UGH. So I'll have to do that all again. Otherwise it's been good so far. Transmission makes all sorts of WHIRRRs and clink clink clinks, but is smooth driving aside from 4th gear's synchro. I'll be popping the other LS tranny I have in it once I get some axle seals and a new half shaft, and then likely ordering bearings for this one and using the GSR LSD diff unit I've got in it.
I can't really take any Honda seriously because of the "VTEC" effect.
Left these at the machine shop today. They treated me very rudely I don't know if I like them messing with my parts now
I can't really take any Honda seriously because of the "VTEC" effect.
First Honda I've owned (seriously owned, as in treated as my own car) that has had VTEC. And I've had a lot. I don't like VTEC. I don't WANT it. But it's there so it's staying. I may end up building a cheap LS long block to drop it in and boost, the GSR motor is clean so I don't really want to tear into it or tear it up. I'm just a notec guy. First thing I have to do is pay off the car, I still owe Jap for it. I'm making him payments here and there starting Friday.
had may 3i 's first oil change appt today but didnt go.. got about 6 inches of snow and the dealer is 50 miles away. dealer wants 59.99 for an oil change 5 qt 0w-20 synthetic. local shop wants 65.99..... i may do it my self need to price this magic oil.

You could probably get a pretty penny for it and buy at least a few LS longblocks from someone who wants to restore a DB2 with a real B17. Does that have the GSR cable transmission which came with the motor too?
The GSR tranny exploded, I swapped in a budget LS tranny for Jap. I have an LS tranny I will be putting new synchros in and using the GSR diff as it's still good and a factory LSD unit. I plan on keeping the B17, it's a fresh motor and will last a long time. I may clean it up and drop it in the Civic later, who knows. Maybe I'll boost it. But first thing is getting Jap his money, I want this thing to be paid off before I spend any money on it. My friend Clent who I used to roll E70 corollas with (I had a sedan, he had a coupe) bought the Celica and is making payments which I will basically be handing straight to Jap. On top of that I basically owe Jap $500 for the car, which I'll be making in the next couple weeks. So the deal is basically done, just waiting on money to collect. But yeah basically, after it's paid off I'm building a tranny for it as the current one is a bit mushy, and I also need to buy a cheap traction bar so I can mount the radiator right. Then I might use my aluminum 3 core rad out of the Civic for now because it's much nicer. Bah, it's all time basically.
Blasted the whole underside of the dart. Going to get 2/3 more bags for all the hard to sand places. [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] Also built a computer with help from brad and my other friend. It has a Biostar H77 motherboard, 8gb g.skill ram, Hd 7950 GPU, 750w power supply , and a intel i5 3330K. It's pretty fast, way better than the POS I had before.
Might get to do my trans pan drop and filter change as well as my friends. He has been complaining about a low growl in the mornings coming from below him and I looked up a vid of a cold start trans. Same problem. 98 4Runner 5VZ and 00 Taco 2RZ. I am just doing mine as preventative maintenance. For his, would there already be damage done if it sounds like this? It only does it for a little bit when warming up. [editline]31st October 2012[/editline] and i know that is not near the same vehicle as the one im talking about but we dont get up around the same time so I cant get a recording
