My engine sounds like this (when cold) with piston slap and so far has 3000+ miles on it. I think you will be fine
Bahaha, called around. Full rebuild is gonna cost me in the ballpark of $2-4000. Yeah right! I can do it for less than $1000. The most expensive thing being the four pistons/bearings. If anything I'll probably put this together and drive it until I can get a twin cam KA24DE. I called an engineering/rebuild firm and the guy just lolled that I was trying to fix up a KA24E. Assholes. (I guess they would; they build GTR's for Formula D). "A what? An S13? Uhhh.....yeah......we don't do that....." What I'm worried about is that my girlfriend's S13 would have a more worn block than mine.
Ls1 swap, 420 blaze it, phaggot.

Just put it back together and save up for that. Also I was wrong about it being an RB25DETT

That would get rid of your piston slap blues in a jiffy, also it is a relatively new engine so I don't see the aftermarket for that car fading out any time soon.

That's a lot of fabricating albeit being street legal. Right now I'm just going to put this engine back together. It might burn a bit of oil but it will be ok
It's an S13, I don't think he needs to worry about a lack of Aftermarket support.
It's an S13, I don't think he needs to worry about a lack of Aftermarket support.
I know, but from what I can tell he's having some diffuculties thus far. Just look at the car I'm trying to buy, an 86, itss over 5 years older than his and it probably has a similar volume aftermarket.
Only because he's got the base model motor, that usually just gets tossed out. The Dual cam maybe, but even then people usually go for the SR20...Kinda wish I'd bought that SE-R last year. :(
Just spitballing but maybe you could do a VQ swap
Yuck

do a tarbo silvertop 4age in the s13, go, do it.
Yeah, but emissions laws wont let him do a sr20 swap... :(
Well, then the answer is to move out of California.
have any of you seen this? http://www.mat.fi/n_index.php?nav=gallery_view&gallery=project1929fordmodel-a&g=13 complete restoration of a 1929 model. with a twist.... look through the album before watching vid trust me.
Yeah, but emissions laws wont let him do a sr20 swap... :(
CA18/CA20 (his car being a 89-90 -- becos SOHC, only two years -- means an 89-90 Stanza CA18/CA20 will drop in and match/exceed year as to conform with some state laws that disallow older engines to be swapped into newer cars) using a 200SX trans or similar CA unit, a Z24 would bolt right in with his current tranny (Z series and KA share the same bellhousing pattern, is 80-100 pounds lighter than the KA24E, and was used in the pickups until 1990! Tons of aftermarket support for the Z series, moreso than the K series -- 510 guys ran the shit out of these back in the day), if your state allows older engine swaps an L28ET would be neat (I've seen it done before in one, seems like not too big of a deal and they make plenty of power and come factory turbocharged) There are a few choices out there. Just have to try is all. SR20 is overrated really.

Unrelated but I'll be checking that cherokee out on friday, hopefully they arnt too firm on the price because im thinking of below 6k when they have it listed for $6300
$6300 for a fucking Cherokee? Does it cook and clean too?
$6300 for a fucking Cherokee? Does it cook and clean too?
here they can cost up to like $20 000 :v:
[img_thumb]http://www.imgur.com/GheID.jpeg[/img_thumb] GOT NEW TIRES!!
bbyz 1st oil change mmm
$6300 for a fucking Cherokee? Does it cook and clean too?
It's really nice compared to the other pieces of shit for sale around me, really low mileage, one owner, regularly serviced, only 5000-6000 km put on each year, always garaged, loaded but no leather (not a fan of leather to begin with), all black, good tires, I'm happy with paying a little more for probably the cleanest Cherokee in Alberta bar maybe 3-5 others, I'll be able to get quite a bit of use out of it and parts are stupid cheap so what goes will be easy to maintain. The price isnt too bad considering 3500-4000 gets you a beat on one with 220-260 thou km and anything more expensive is some guys offroad project that has likely been beat to shit. I'm thinking $5800 would be a good price but I'll push for $5700. It's only been sitting in the garage for a month since they got a new vehicle, strictly a city jeep where its daily commute is around 20km, we'll see how it turns out when I go to look at it, I REALLY need a vehicle though, not being able to drive is a massive pain, when im not driving/getting driven it makes me miss my ram a lot, twas a fun truck. Kind of going through with what DP might be having, selling his first vehicle and all, not a fun experience.
100,000 miles (160k km) on a '98 Cherokee for $6300. I still don't see how that's a good deal. That would book out for $2000 less no doubt. In the condition it's in, even. KBB: NADA: I still think it's a bad deal. Keep in mind that NADA's Clean Retail and KBB's Excellent Condition do in fact mean CLEAN and EXCELLENT, which is what the Jeep is. There isn't a higher retail option.

Hell, try to convince dealers that a 00-01 Automatic LS isn't worth 9k. It's really just pure and absolute bullshit. I know that you're supposed to knock dealers down on prices but I can't see any dealer halving it ever. Used car prices have increased in the last few years, I haven't seen a damn used car(hondas at least) priced anywhere near an amount I would even think about paying for them. I would hold out on buying a car in this market as long as possible and then try to jump on something which is finally worth the money, there's no way you can just go out and hope to find a car currently.
It seems the change is completely different here: Here's it's a buyer's market, and cars have droppped quite a lot in price, especially those not that popular.

Dealerships rarely sell at book value. They're out to make as much money as they can, and that's how they do it. To be honest, you have to consider that it will be made out in payments so knocking them down a couple thousand and paying it out is the only option some people have. As far as craigslist, you can always find a good deal there if you're willing to do the work. Just browsing once or twice and giving up isn't going to net you anything unless you're really fucking lucky.
why is your avatar so gay
I often wonder this. I hate that fucking avatar. It's entirely inappropriate. I don't even like LMFAO either, but that's unrelated. It's just the sight of the avatar that makes me cringe.
Insecure folks :c
