Hopefully you like your soild motor mounts, I'm not overly happy with my inserts and really kick myself over not going with Hardrace mounts which I had been eyeing as well.
Well, I haven't actually gotten them yet; they were out of stock so I have to wait for their new supply to come in. I've decided to get them later. Better than having sponge mounts like what I have right now...
Hooray for hardest urethane mounts possible on B17 swap with bad CV shaft Shit beats my brains out going down the highway, really need to get another CV shaft.

Better than having sponge mounts like what I have right now...
My motor was moving around enough to smack things which were near the firewall like my amp fuse AFAIK. I asked a buddy of mine if he thought my mounts were bad and he grabbed my intake manifold pulled real hard and my motor moved around a decent bit to us pulling on it which I would think is a lot less force than under normal driving at the least. I just made an impulse decision a couple days later to have the local import garage to have some inserts put in which everyone online seemed to suggest. Started it up and was surprised as hell when what felt like every movement of the motor was directly transferred through the firewall into the car. Even with the "softest" inserts with a good 5k on them anything below 2k rpms is a rather unbearable bog which shakes the car. Sure soon as you're above 2.5ish you just get about the harmonic noise transferred through the car equivalent of a loud fart pipe or no muffler but down low it just sucks. I have to say though that the reduction in wheel hop and the way the car just hooks compared to the shit ass mounts before the inserts is amazing and whenever you're actually driving the car rather than riding in the car they are rather nice. However, I don't believe that it was an acceptable tradeoff when Hardrace/Honda OEM mounts would most likely perform just as well new without ruining what was once considered a cheap sporty luxury car or something. The same buddy who showed me my mounts were shot said my mounts were shot when I did a clutch almost year back. I was really pissed off over how nothing wanted to come apart right and just getting the transmission to slide in, axles to come out or tophats to line up became multi-day ordeals which ended in weeks of discouragement over a license suspension. Oh and I hated the chattery POS Exedy Stage 2 3 puck which I put in after all that to top it off. Instead my buddy knew someone who ran a shop who wanted to get rid of a GSR tranny he got with a swap for cheap and offered to put it in with a brand new ACT 6 puck sprung for just the price of the parts as well as buy the Exedy from me. I just didn't care and wanted my motor to not fall out and just did whatever in the cheapest, fastest and easiest way which I was convinced was going to be fine. I highly regret not just sucking it up, buying some nice mounts which would have come with all 5 as well and being entirely happy with them for less than twice the price. I'm not sure how a real solid mount might compare and how well my experience would transfer to a 240. I would possibly think it might suck even more since the driver might even be vibrated at all times due to the transmission being behind the firewall where as my pedals just vibrate for the most part when maintaining a speed. Post really shouldn't have been that long but you're kinda coming across some of the same stuff I did, meh. Upon some research those Cusco mounts look harsh as hell compared to the Nismo/Megan/Hardrace(/OEM?) style, two small tubes with some bolts through them insulated by some urethane and some plates and mounting bits welded on.
So wait.... stiff ass mounts = brain damage? I know there needs to SOME kinda movement because of vibration but I figured it would be negligible.
vibration causes all kinds of unfunny stuff like back pains

I like the Cusco's because from what I've read on the reviews from other 240 guys on Zilvia, those mounts last forever. However the OEM style mounts like Nismo wear-out overtime and revert to stock positioning. I like the idea of speedy response with the engine bolted securely. But I am uneasy about the vibration issue. (But my motor vibrated quite a significant amount already with the blown mounts). You get that feeling after you drive like you've just been using a jackhammer. There are other mounts available like poly types that are custom-made. But for the money and trouble, the solid mounts look ok. I need to give em a try to really make a concrete fact-based opinion
vibration causes all kinds of unfunny stuff like back pains
That avatar does that already

Jap selling me a bum car Everything falling apart on it Time to rake up $70 for a new CV shaft since this one fucking came apart on me

I can't see the overall benefit of no movement of the motor compared to an inch or so of torquing around and the dampening of all of the vibrations in our low hp cars. If anything I'm thinking with more of the shock being transferred to our cheap and worn axles/drivelines/transmissions/suspension that it's much more prone to expose weak points. The Hardrace motor mounts are even a little cheaper than the Cuscos, not really sure how well Hardrace has established themselves in the Nissan world but their "Harden Rubber" stuff is pretty regarded as cheaper direct upgrades with pretty much no compromise. With poly suspension bushings compared to an OEM quality rubber you have to inspect them occasionally as they are prone to completely deteriorating and generally don't even last half of the lifetime which the original OEM's would. I'm not sure how much better pure poly motor mounts would fair over suspension bushings which are highly abused by the elements and road surface. However, there's been quite a few turbo'd Integras which have been going OEM on their motor mounts for a more enjoyable DD instead of jumping on the poly insert/solid mount train. I've been doing a lot of researching up on people's opinions of their Hardrace mounts and apparently they still vibrate like a "60a poly mount", Megan and Hardrace seem to offer some of the same parts too so their motor mounts are probably the same. I found only good things said about the Beck/Arnley mounts as well as the Honda OEM ones so I'll probably go with those when I get around to changing my oil pan seal/deleting my cat and replacing my o2 sensor.

Just what was wrong with it in the beginning. The CV shaft and half-shaft. That was pretty much it.

Seeing as the one on there was already a Exedy Stage One. Replacing it with an OEM kit wouldn't hurt but still
Wood flooring? Dude, did you cart your engine into your room or something, or do you just have a badass garage?
The Jeep is almost done. - Drop Reworked engine - Attached and bolted to the Trans - Removed and Replaced Differential Pinion - Replaced Alternator Soon.
-snip- photobucket trainwreck, have to go to school, fix later
List of Things to Do: Clean Carbs Replace Fork Seals Replace Valve Cover Gasket Adjust Throttle Cable Fix the Exhaust Fuckup from Previous Owner Replace Battery - hope to god its not the regulator/dampener/alternator
Fuck yes, first start up of the newly worked engine went well. I'm going for a beer now.
Replaced; Coil pack Spark plugs Exhaust piping Poked a hole threw my second cat, cleaned most of my electrical connections. Went from 24mpg to 28.7mpg
Replaced; Coil pack Spark plugs Exhaust piping Poked a hole threw my second cat, cleaned most of my electrical connections. Went from 24mpg to 28.7mpg
I gained .9mpg from deleting my second cat.
I gained....about 2 days worth of driving replacing my cat with a new high flow cat and and new straight through muffler.
that feel when your unhooking a battery cable and you touch metal with the tool your using.
that feel when your unhooking a battery cable and you touch metal with the tool your using.
That feel when your messing with your fuel distribution and your 1/2" wrench touches the positive terminal. ;_;
that feel when you can't feel anymore cause you did the above
it's ok. it take a lot more to blow the am2 fuse and fuck up your battery
Balancing & rotating 40" tires, dropped one on my toe ;-; [editline]30th November 2012[/editline] rip toe

Tried to line up my door a bit better. Before; Front lined up right Back top was in 1/2" too far Back bottom was out 1/2" too far After; Front top out maybe 1/5 to 1/4" Front bottom in maybe 1/5" Rear bottom out 1/5 to 1/4" Rear top out 1/5 to 1/4" Obviously something is bent, so it's impossible to properly line up. I had to modify the hinges a lot just to find this 'happy medium' fitment. I was able to line up either the front or back, but never anywhere near having both lined up. If I'm doing something wrong, someone let me know? From my logic, since opposite corners are in, that means something is actually bent somewhere. When I line up the top left and bottom right, the top right and bottom left are sticking out. When I line up the top right and bottom left, the opposites are sunk in.
