you mean...theres cars...with....more.....cylinders?
You called it headers it is a header.
Got holes drilled in the dash bezel for some new gauges today. Still waiting on the last two gauges to come in, and I'm working on getting the wiring harness together for them.
Installed a new head unit in the MR2 and decided to take it for a drive up Pikes Peak to test it out. Ran flawlessly which is great because its a shitty place to be stranded.
My roommate asked me for help on Friday installing his brakes; naturally I told him no problem, we were just swapping his front pads/rotors and bleeding the calipers, nothing major. He says we should shoot for Sunday morning, which I'm okay with. Saturday at 1 in the morning he texts me saying his alarm is set for 8 and we could start then. I wake up at 8 and see the text and rush home, get there by around 8:15. He wasn't even awake yet, so I sat around and played Far Cry 3. This fool wakes up at fucking 10:30 and still expects me to help him, and to top it off he runs out of the house to go pick up his friend in case he needs a "helping hand". At this point I take my tools and leave because I have better things to do. I get back around 2 in the afternoon and they're just finishing up; rotors and pads are successfully installed, but he can't seem to get any pressure in the brakes. I ask him how he bled the brakes, and he goes on this long winded rant about he how did everything I said and blah blah blah (I told him to open the caliper bleeder valve, pump the brakes until no more bubbles come out, close the valve, and repeat on the other caliper). I ask him if he's SURE he opened the valve, and he again exclaims he knows what he's doing. I sigh and crawl under the car and sure enough, he DISCONNECTED THE BRAKE LINE which is literally an inch from the bleeder. I'm sorry, but this shit is kind of common sense?
About to get ready for surgery The donor engine had blown head gasket, #4 cylinder, and was beginning to creep into #3 as well. Found out a great piece of information as well. A TD-02U 1988-1991 Honda Civic/CRX Si distruibutor will bolt directly onto an F22 non-VTEC head: Could I be the first to do an OBD0 F/H swap into an EF? I don't even know. I'm compiling a knowledgebase of everything needed so that anyone wanting to do the swap will have it, as it's fairly undocumented and those who have done the swap never say anything. Pish posh! Time to make it known to the world! Plan is F22A4 block, F22 head until I can afford/find an H23 head. Parts still needed: -Mounts (Have picked them, have not bought them yet) -Flywheel (Have found a cheap stock one I'm trying to get) -Clutch (Have two B series clutches and a brand new F22 Exedy disc, will likely go with the latter) -Fuel Rail (Using 92-95 Civic EX injectors, should fit into any standard rail, still need to look) -Axles (1990 Acura Integra LS axles, should run me about $150) -Traction Bar (Going with cheapy ebay unit to save cost for now) -Cable to Hydro conversion kit ($80, already picked out, not bought) Shouldn't be too much more expensive, and since the tranny, motor, shifter and cables, and other small bits were free, the only thing I'll be out is 3-4 hundred bucks. Quite cheap, I wouldn't be able to do a B-series swap for that much, and if I did it would be a wekaer B18A1 or such, making only as much power as this F22. Plus, the H/F series is the big block of the pre-K Honda world. So I can expect massive power when I get to dumping some boost into it later, which is definitely the plan.
I love how everything is just spread across a field like no one gave a shit
I love how everything is just spread across a field like no one gave a shit
A field? That's my yard. I have a big yard.
looks like there is rocks or something in the head lol
That's dirt, from that motor being tossed on the ground. It was a core engine.
I like how you don't need a engine hoist
Well, since I'm going up from the bottom (I literally have to, the F22 is too big to drop in from the top) I'm using a transmission jack rather than an engine hoist. It's easier. When I pulled the D16 I didn't use shit. I unbolted everything and ripped that shit out with my bare hands.
40 years later [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/Img%20Dump/mybacksbusted.jpg[/t]
i couldn't find my jack stands one day and all i had to quickly do was get under the car to check what was rattling. I could have probably just found a good angle and looked under but i just took my jack and went clunk, clunk, clunk and the second i bent down to go look and poke my head under a little SWOOSH, fucking jack slide off the lift point like it was coated in oil
Never bought any jackstands, always used those things they cut to hold road railings. Got a whooping load of them, changing tires? Literally put the car on the 4 blocks. Best stands. :v:
My hands are full of blisters. Freaking Chinese engine hoist and having no directions Girlfriend gave in and bought me an engine hoist. Her excuse was "so you could build your engine and then pull mine out." For about $200 with a balancer it pays for itself imo Pace is moving slowly. Spending outpacing my paychecks. Need more parts: flywheel resurface/balance, arp flywheel bolts, arp rod bolts, crank/rod bearings, rear main seal, piston rings, timing cover seals, alternator/battery, starter, freezeplugs, oil pan gasket, brake master cylinder, clutch slave, cat gaskets aiming for longevity build
You called it headers it is a header.
but that's a silly name so just call it an exhaust manifold like most countries
but that's a silly name so just call it an exhaust manifold like most countries
But there is a difference.
rice
I just use the two names to differentiate whether or not it's stock. Exhaust manifold = stock. Header = aftermarket.
I just use the two names to differentiate whether or not it's stock. Exhaust manifold = stock. Header = aftermarket.
This is how I always thought of it. My ford has shitty restrictive cast iron exhaust manifolds on it, once I'm at that stage It's getting steel long tube headers for dat growl.
steel long tube exhaust manifold
But long tube header sounds better than long tube exhaust manifold.
but rice
y rice
I don't think you can buy a header for my car.
you can't buy rice for yo car? impossibru
A tubular steel header is a cheap, lightweight replacement for a cast iron manifold. The only way it would be rice is if someone claimed their eBay header added 15hp or something, because it won't. That's generally not the point though. 90% of Honda guys I know (respectable honda guys I know) run a cheap header because it's better than the stock manifold, cheaper to replace, and easier to dismantle if they need to get it off again. My old DC Sport 4-2-1 header came apart like hot butter when I tried unbolting it, the stock 4-1 cast iron manifold broke one stud and stripped another out (I managed to get one nut off without damage!), ruining one of the stud holes permenantly and leaving a broken stud in another. Buying a tubular header isn't rice. Making ridiculous claims on a cheap tubular header is. There are race-spec headers that have proven gains (See: Bisimoto D16, Schoenfeld Headers for the Ford Pinto engine, etc.) but are costly and by the time you invest in the header, supporting mods, and tune, you could be pushing a little bit of boost and making a lot more power.
bu-but-but N/A screamers
i just call stock exhaust manifold, aftermarket header/s. Thats pretty much how people say it around here
