I fixed my broken snowmobile! After a long while of troubleshooting I found the gaskets between the cylinders and crankcase were both broken.
Nu surprise there since you're driving an "Arctic", those are infamous for leaving a trail of parts behind them as they go :v:

I am mocking up the F22 in the Civic. It looks fucking huge compared to the D16 (As it should, I'm having to cut and re-build part of the frame to miss the motor and tranny). was talking about electrical ground on the block
was talking about electrical ground on the block
Who care's about the ground... [sp]0/10 not 0 gauge wire[/sp]
It's a lighter gauge wire in stock form. At one time I had ground issues (When I dropped that D16Z6 I built into it), so I changed it for a thicker gauge wire I had laying around. Free ground cable, couldn't complain about the color although it matches nothing in the bay. Tomorrow I'm trimming the frame the rest of the way, cleaning and painting the bay, cleaning the parts I have laying around, mounting it (HOPEFULLY permenantly, we'll see though), and figuring out what I'm going to do with the alternator since it currently would sit about where my driver's side headlight is with the tensioner and all bolted up. I doubt I'll get that all done tomorrow, so I'll likely have to finish up tuesday. Monday I'm going to the salvage to find me a better alternator bracket, flywheel, fuel rail, and to pick up the axles I've already pulled.
was teasing, bro
I know :v: doesn't mean it's not silly looking though.
I know :v: doesn't mean it's not silly looking though.
Hey Bradly, you know tons/everything about Honda engines, I'm getting a Honda Accord with a V6 really soon. Do you know of anything on those engines that could be a recurring problem or just a pita?

lots of people have problems with the automatic transmissions
lots of people have problems with the automatic transmissions
Any specifics? Sorry to bug, I just don't want a money pit/hassle/ulcers.
Auto transmissions for the C series have always been awful, they have bad problems with wearing out the wet clutches. If I got an Accord it would never be a V6-powered model -- if you want a reliable one, go with the F22 (Or F23 if later, K24 if even later than that). If I had to sum up the C27 in one word, I'd use "Meh". The J-series was far better, but still not as reliable, lightweight, and easy to repair as the F22.
Huh. Applying an extension to a socket attached to a torque wrench does not necessarily mean you have to change torque calculations as long as it is in a 90-degree angle and does not lengthen the wrench head. It is like extending the fastener so calculation adjustments are not necessary. It would only be necessary when your pivot is either a) lengthened or b) shortened. Extending the fastener so it can reach your wrench does not necessitate calculations. You learn something everyday

People here simply DO NOT sell cars for fair prices, always trying to get top dollar for crunched up cans of shit rolled into the shape of a car. At least at this point I have the money to get shit fixed if it needs it so I'm not hella worried, but if it's going to be a money pit I'm gonna just flip it and try to get back what I spent. There's really not alot I can't fix with some time and effort, so I'm gonna hold a sunny disposition about it. Also, IF I can find an F22 with a tranny that'll fit along with all the necessary electrical I'll get it as a last resort but if it's gonna cost more then a grand fuck that, it's not that worth it. I need it to work solid, not make land speed records. Unless you can work some kinda combination Google/*Honda-Fu and find something for a good price in the Tampa area. *Honda-Fu because Honda Guru is you.

In a V8 or whatever it's quite simple, as the engine and tranny is facing another direction, but I don't see you do it when the engine is sideways?

Jap pretty much summed it up. Since the engine is mounted sideways, the "differential" is just gear driven directly from the transmission, and CV shafts connect to that and then the wheels. Really simple.

Maybe you could talk them down a bit? [editline]16th December 2012[/editline]
The gear lever controls the transmission through a hydraulic line or mechanical linkage though, right?
On a manual, the linkage is generally cables, though on some older cars it is a series of bars. My Civic's original shifter linkage was two large bars, one that twistes and went in and out, the other stabilized it. Now it has two cables, one for lateral movement, and one to put it into each gear. Clutch is generally cable or hydraulic.
After a month of sitting doing nothing, I finally received the new starter motor for my beamer. Didn't take long to pull the old one out, and sure enough it was completely rooted. For some background info (since I haven't posted here in ages); I went and pulled the whole intake manifold and replaced a boatload of gaskets, along with throwing in some new fuel injectors. First time I tried to fire it up, the car would crank but not turn over, then I noticed one of the injectors had a leaking topside O-ring, so I fixed that, went to start it again and BANG, it seized. From that point on turning the key just gave a loud CLICK, or if you were under the car you could hear it as a metal on metal BANG. I figured the starter motor was toast as the solenoid was engaging, and set about ordering a new one. Took forever to get the EXACT part but I got it a week ago and finally set to work. Good news : It was the starter motor that shit itself, the flywheel is intact and fine, and everything else looks tidy. Bad news : The new starter I spent a bundle on does not fit. The coons sent me a damn LHD starter while my car's RHD! ARRRGGH. Oh well, time to blow MORE money on ANOTHER starter to get the right one. Anyway, here's some pics for you all; Starting work, those aint my legs FYI; Here's the old starter, I have no idea what went wrong but that's some impressive damage; Another shot, you can see how the pinion is bent out of shape, no doubt that's what shattered the casing; And here's the wrong starter I was sent (old one's on the right); Now I've got a new (used) one on the way, should have it in a few days, and the Germans are going to refund me for the other one when I send it back. The worst part about all of this is that because of this starter failure, I never got to see if all the work I did actually WORKED. So even when I do replace the starter, I have no idea if it's going to fire up this time or even work properly. I had problems in the past with a different set of the same injectors so I hope these aren't dodgy too. Time will tell. /rant Ps. Here she sits after a month of neglect :( Once she's up and running, I'm throwing on new tail lights and completing the lighted interior / exterior door handle mods, so keep an eye out for that! That's the one yeah. Wait until those lighting mods are done, then it'll be proper VIP. I would go on eBay right now and order the full widescreen / MK4 nav retrofit kit, but until it's running again I'm not spending another cent on it. Better safe than sorry right... *edit* I'll be replacing the tail lights with some Celis style tails, just like this;
