My brake pads were too thick to fit the caliper on (yes the piston was fully compressed). So my friend stuck it on the mill at his work (we weren't really sure how this was going to work out, but i had a free set to experiment on since tire rack sent me some banged up pads the first time).

It made a big fucking mess to say the least, but it was a big successful mess.

Unmilled new pad on the left, milled 'damaged' pad on the right (damage has been milled off so it's perfectly acceptable now.) So basically i got two sets of pads for the price of one.
When my front brakes were getting stuck on my ram we put them in our lathe and slowly took off the pad, found out it wasn't even so by the end it was good and flat, worked great.

Buy them from one of these sources next time:
Rockauto <-------- Best OEM parts catalog site, hands down.
Amazon
JC Whitney
I buy my pads locally because they get me a rare kevlar/ceramic combo that are comparable to racing pads but doesnt make noise at low temp.
it is cheaper than rockauto and the shipping
So now I have the back end of my bike apart, and I'm going to give the drive-train a good clean.

For quality pads, yes, it's cheaper to buy local. But if you're buying OEM semi-metallic replacements, RA often has them for under $5 a set, and that's not an exaggeration.
Shipping is not worth it for ANY brake component (Discs/Pads) I mean on Rockauto when you live outside the states.
4 OEM discs with 8 OEM pads was for them alone about 344$ shipped to my location.
Could get the same parts for about 180$ locally, or 150$ if went a tad cheaper on the pads.
Rockauto is great for most things though, unless they're heavy and you live crossborder.

I had a bad car day.
The nuts that held the downpipe onto the turbo worked their way off on a 20mi drive home. I had looked in the bay a day before and didn't notice anything wrong. They LOOKED to be on there tight.
I made it home slowly, it ran like shit because the 02 was getting all kinds of readings.
Then once I made it home, my dipstick had blown out and started leaking oil onto my engine.

This is why you should clean your pcv system.

Rockauto is like 2-3 days away with regular cheap ground shipping for me.
It's pretty good.
I ordered airfilter and stuff for my audi when I got it, (ordered around 7am CST) and it came the next day using basic o'l cheap shipping options.
I love rockauto for things. Because I dont have to go to the twats at o'rallys or autozone.
I'm going to start designing a new dash around one of these.

When my step-dad told me to look around for parts I like, I don't think he expected me to have such expensive tastes. :zoid:

Maybe if I wanted visible dynamat, wiring, and A/C ducting. The GTO deserves better.

Also, four inch air cutter > electric grinder.
Changed valve cover gasket on the Jeep, broke one of the bolts (230 in/lb spec, got to 200 and it just popped off)
My dad says it wont leak, not sure If I trust.
Wait a minute...
