Uhhhhh That's red right?
Trans draining right now, going back out soon to wipe, plug, and fill.

i was about to say if that was your trans fluid then your transmission would be horrible and draining the fluid would destroy it.

It's a manual, it's not supposed to be red. Conk's a dumb-dumb brain.
The new stuff is piss yellow.
And is mixed with the sludgy old stuff somewhat.

my cobra and GT uses ATF in the manual trans lol

Yeah, some Borg trannies are like that. They're strange.
My Honda uses 5w30 motor oil.
Oh jesus
Decided to switch out some of my powersteering fluid.
I took out a sample of it the other day using a turkey baster (lol) and it had a slight red tint to it, thought it wasn't bad enough to change. Today I found half a quart of ATF, figured might as well change the fluid in the reservoir.
Drained the reservoir, all of it was very dark compared to the new fluid and smelled quite a bit worse. It also had some floaty stuff in it and small bubbles, wtf is up with that?
Poured half a quart of new atf in, turned lock to lock 20ish times, filled it up again, drove 20 miles, checked level, it was right on. Seamed to help a little. Once I get a bit of time, I'll buy more atf and change all the fluid in the rack. Might buy me a little more time before having to replace it.
Pff, power steering.

muscle servo is the way to go
So, changed the oil with the expensive Redline and Purolator filter on GF's 240. Smooth as silk. Was scary at first because I filled it up right, but had to let the engine run for a bit to circulate the oil. Chain was rattling everywhere. Topped off again and it was all gravy.
There really is a difference between dino and synthetic; Redline being a really good oil that doesn't shear as easily. For about $70 for 4 quarts, $80 counting Purolator filter, it better be smooth as silk....

So I found this:

And now, I'm doing this:

I was really hoping it was just something stupid and now I fear that theres going to be a monster of a problem underneath those heads. Fuck. Well at least I know what I'm doing, save torque specs.
Can anyone recommend a great repair book, haynes is the devil and I don't think Chilton (former god of repair manuals) even exist anymore.
haynes and chilton are same company now.
Haynes because I compared it to the real Nissan FSM and they use the exact diagrams save for the exact torque.
Get a PDF of your FSM; way better
I'd like to do the PDF thing, cept toting my laptop around the car whilst working on it has proven harder then I'd like it to be, so I'm just gonna run to my local vatozone and pick one up.
I wouldn't want my laptop full of oil and dirt

Like I said, Haynes doesn't have the specifics; they don't have wiring diagrams or torque specs. I would know, I sell the things
It's either ease of comfort or accuracy of information. Nothing beats factory specs on the FSM.

I have my old laptop that I tossed onto a cart in the garage to use as a reference machine. If it gets covered in shit, who cares. It is actually extremely nice to have out in the garage. The last thing you want to do is remember you need to look something up and walk through your house to your computer to google it and turn around after finding it to see a trail of oil foot prints throughout the house.

If I can find an FSM localy, I'll get it. No need to make my life harder by not having N-T-K* information.

Good point, but thankfully the floors are getting redone soon so a stain here or there won't matter at this time. :v:
Hey twist, what's that in, anyways? I don't remember you getting any new old hawnders.
[editline]29th January 2013[/editline]
Oh that's right, you did end up getting that accord, right?

I sure did. Good old Accord V6 C27A4...
With blown head gaskets and junkyard heads, theres numbers written on both heads that get put there when ya buy em'.
So now I'm in the process of getting it all tore down and cleaned up. But LITERATELY 8 mins ago from this post I SPLIT a black steel impact socket trying to get the bolt that holds the harmonic balancer/main crank pulley off.
I spit that shit, I split it like Tommy lee split Pam Anderson's vertical smile on they're wedding night.
It seems I summon in-human strength when working on cars.
Now I gotta get a socket set an replace my dads 3/4 inch impact socket, wonderful
How are you coming up with BHG? I saw nothing unusual from your pics. Did you run a leakdown test, or a standard compression test? Were your plugs being fouled with coolant?
Sweet smell from exhaust and white smoke, excessive water from tail pipe, water under valve cover

And the biggest issue was constant overheating in exactly 15 mins from start whilst only idling.
I blame the prior owners, they probably didn't do the job right/got warped heads from the junkyard.
Today... I looked at the snowbunnie and vacuumed out all the water that gotten into it.
There was about 5" of water in the floor pans. :suicide:
Got all that out and put a bigger tarp over it. Gonna play fuck you fuel shit Ima get you running in a few days.
Also water got into the uncovered gas tank. ;_;
I see no water there. That milky reside is likely from (commonly occurring) condensation. Honda's oil returns are positioned so that oil and water don't mix upon BHG conditions, so water being under there would be some freak miracle anyways.
Other symptoms sound correct though. Good luck with it.
Hm. There's apparently some condensation that appears under the boot mat in my Mini.
That normal?

whoopsie
No worries man, that's an easy fix. Just don't get bent out of shape over it.
So I changed my downstream sensor today on the accord. Kinda chilly out so the CAT cooled down pretty fast was still hot when I was working on it but my gloves made it feel like nothing. I literally wrenched the o2 sensor once then twisted it out with my hands. Fiddled for 5 minutes trying to get the o2 sensor to unhook from the connector to the computer.
Now the issue at hand I found out when I took out the old o2 sensor (Why it was throwing the code on it, not cause it was dead but because the black wire had become unconnected to where it should have been). So I dropped in the bosch one I got from the auto store. I was told by other mechanics that they don't work and you need OEM Honda ones and I'm going to clear the code and have it back in 5 minutes. (These "mechanics" they called themselves were people just interrupting car talk between us employees at the store)
Welp dropped the new one in got it in nice and tight and the cable was acutally 18 inches longer then the other one (The older one was just cutting it close to connecting with it, that strech probably broke the cable on the old one.)
Turned the key got presented with check engine but my idle was a steady 750rpm. No matter how much i rev'd the engine to random RPM's it acutally would go back to 750rpm and stay there and idle there. Before hand you'd turn the key and get a random RPM from 600 to 1200 and it would change constantly cause the old o2 sensor was throwing bad info.
Went to my shop cause I don't have the code reader and they cleared it for me drove around for hours on end and it never came back, Ready for inspection bro
Story is, o2 sensors need to be replaced can solve alot of issues between odd RPM's idling or issues with acceleration. People who say your car runs fine without them are wrong, It'll run just not right.

The O2 on GF's car had no ceramic element on the tip at all; it burned off right until the threads. The wire was also twisted and frayed. Replaced with a new one, car runs perfect and decent mileage.
I built dis at work.

Do subs in the boot like that sound any good from the cabin? Can't imagine it being that good, just something to boast about.
