I've got a whole extra DPFI throttlebody I think. I'll check and see if the TPS is on it.
I just picked up my brand new head gasket :buddy:
dad got a friend who's willing to lend us his garage for the weekend so we can change it
it's the same place he's restoring his Suzuki :v:
Ah, yeah, I'm familiar with DPFI. I ran DPFI turbo for a while. I had a complete extra intake + throttlebody with injectors, had fresh O-rings, good TPS, IAT, IACV on it, but I just gave it away yesterday. Should have said something sooner.
 If I had only knooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwnnnnnnn....
Thank you for the thought anyway. :downs:

If you still have and are willing to part with it I would really be grateful. Were having some pretty crappy cash issues and getting parts is hard enough with out the car deciding randomly whether it wants to run right or not.
Well good luck with it. Honestly if this thread was a day faster than reality I would have probably given you the entire intake with all of that on it for whatever it costs to ship it to you. :/ I didn't have a use for it because the hatch I'm getting back in a couple days, I've recently redone the whole TB on it.
Anyways, today I worked on not getting hit by the numerous people who attempted to wreck into this car, which I would have totally raged at because it's essentially not mine anymore. I've traded my Rex for my old Civic Hatch and some cash on top. Pretty stoked. :3
Today I've bought a bunch of shit for the Jeep, made the gray part of the interior under the steering wheel black to fit the new big panel and cut some rubber mats to fit in as it had just one horribly looking one
[img_thumb]http://www.jula.no/mediaarchive/5191330/zoom/606022-jpg.jpg[/img_thumb]
They are cheesy as hell but I like them :buddy:
also drove the Jeep to dad's friend's house so we start tomorrow to replace the gasket and hopefully get done on either friday or saturday
oh god diamond plate floor mats

One last wash before I give her away.
Still not sure what day I'll be getting the hatch.

Please don't think I'm flaming at all, but...
Why in the blue FUCK would you trade that beauty of a car? That's a fucking masterpiece of a car there.
It's not as pretty as it looks in that picture, hood if matte black, not shiny or carbon. It's just wet. And the paint is a rattlecan job to cover up the patchy black underneath.
I'm trading it for my old '90 Civic hatchback, my baby. I put a lot of work into the hatch and traded it off one day after I got pissed because I had just done THREE HEAD JOBS for my friend for FUCKING FREE and then he gave me a broken radiator for my car as payment.
In turn I got a 240SX, the 240SX had no title, I ended up having to scrap it because the engine was in pieces in the back and not all complete, and then I worked my way back up to this car. Now I want my hatch back, and I have the opportunity so I'm going to try as hard as I can to get it back.
If this falls through I'll probably still trade it for a hatch, though. It's been such a royal pain having only two seats. Plus it needs a bit of rust repair and some bodywork, few dings here and there. I want something clean that I can build up now, instead of the other way around. Granted my old hatch is a bit beat up but like I said, I miss the car.
Or if someone wanted to give me a good chunk of change I'd probably get rid of it as well. *shrug*
Still waiting on this guy to get ready to trade, hoping he doesn't flake on me.
I was gonna say oil pan gasket lol. Close enough.
Almost done putting my car back together. Been working on this clutch swap all weekend and I'm exhausted. Big tip to anyone that attempts removing their transmission in the future... put all the bolt groups you take out into separate bags and label them according to what they belong to. Or put them back into the holes they went after whatever you're taking out is out. I spent an hour looking for two important bolts last night and was about to rage quit.
I'll leave you one other method for the future. I buy a big 4 x4 brick of styrofoam, and jam all the bolts into it then label groupings on the styrofoam with it. Did this for my clutch swap a couple weeks ago. I only wound up with 2 Extra bolts, which wound up being the bolts to hold the tow hook onto the subframe, which was easy enough. While you can leave bell housing bolts out, it's generally not good to lose them if that were the case.

Well, if it's for a car you love then it's ok. MY car is a 1979 Pontiac Catalina with a 301 odd block. It's my first car and I've sworn to NEVER get rid of it. I'll fight for this particular car even if it means my death.
It was my mothers car and she passed Oct 09'. She loved the car and I told her I would keep the car even if it rusted to the ground. Call me crazy, I don't care, but this car means alot to me and I'd fight the world for it over and again if came down to it.

It's best to have a really cheap first car to love for the rest of your life, because if it has decent value you'll want to use it to trade up. Like me.
I think one of my motor mounts is busted. My car violently vibrates at idle when I'm at a stoplight/sign. So I usually just put it in neutral which stops it. I wonder what it could possibly be.

That does sound like motor mount, next time you get the chance try to lift either side of your engine and if it moves to what seems excessive get a closer view of them to make an assessment.

I was thinking about doing something like that. I know the sparkplug wires are older and used, but the spark plugs are new. My only other conclusions are either the IAC/Fuel System is clogged/dirty, spark plug wires might be arcing, or the idle speed is too low.

There might be something there, but if it's shaking really bad while its in gear it just might be a motor mount, it really sounds like it to me.

you're awesome man, i sometimes think, someday all those nice old cars are going to be gone because no one will be around to care for them.
When im older if im not broke as shit i wanna buy lodsa old cars and make sure they never know the fate of cars like the chevelle i saw the other day, no hood, no engine, no tires, no doors, rusted to shit.
It's best to have a really cheap first car to love for the rest of your life, because if it has decent value you'll want to use it to trade up. Like me.
My first car was an '88 Dodge Colt I've slowly been transforming into an '88 Lancer, only thing I haven't been able to get ahold of is the Mitsubishi grille emblem. It's destined for a 4G63 swap once I get the right motor. N/A, but it's better than the 70~hp 4G15 that came with it.
As with Scientwist, I've sworn to never get rid of it. Although to be honest if the price was right anything I own is for sale. I can't afford to hold on to things like that, it's too hard to live right now.
The other reason I can't get rid of the car is I'm very broke and the job market for me is very limited. The car is currently up state, but not to long from now it's gonna be brought back down for some much needed maintaining.
I worked on crying myself to sleep because I can't get what is pretty much 80% of my dream car only because of distance.

Sounds like me and my truck.
'79 Chevy K20 with the 350cid, 350 turbo transmission, np203 t-case, D44 front axle and GM 14-bolt rear.
My gramp bought it right from the dealer in '79. My dad bought it off him in ~'02. Now it's been passed down to me.
We've had a lot of financial problems over the years, and my truck has come close to being put up for sale. But I keep fighting to keep it, even though I can't afford to drive it.
These past few days I have been going over it and fixing rust. Right now it needs a new bed and a drivers side door. The running gear and the rest of the cab is in perfect condition.
Here are some pictures taken over the past few days:

Where do you live? If it means that much to you I WILL COME AND DRIVE YOU DOWN THERE.
......MAYBE.
This is the Catalinas heart, it may look like hell in there but having a rat rod for a cousin is a blessing. :v:

Heres and exerpt taken from Wikipedia:
As Pontiac V8s were completely banned from the State of California beginning in 1977 due to the inability to meet the state's more stringent emission control standards, Catalinas (and Bonnevilles) sold in California were equipped with engines from other GM divisions through 1981. Those included the Buick 231 V6 and an assortment of V8s including the Chevrolet 305, Oldsmobile 307, Buick and Olds 350s, and Olds 403 V8.
The Catalina was discontinued after the 1981 model year along with the more luxurious Bonneville as Pontiac sought to abandon the full-sized car market as part of GM's continued downsizing program. The 1982 Bonneville was introduced as a mid-size car. When production of the Catalina nameplate ended in 1981, over 3.8 million Catalinas had been sold since 1959.
A wild intercooler appears.

Have you seen a srt4?
why are we all tarboing? I just put gas in my Pathfinder so I can park my wagon and tear it apart.
also fuck you edberg, I'll go buy that 72mm Turbonetics
Have you seen a srt4?
Yes, I have.
Also I'm getting rid of my tarbo'd Rex, so I'll be N/A again :( Not sure if I'm going to turbo the hatch or not, might try and find a D16A6 or D16Z6 block first, it's already got on hell of a top end. First thing I need to do is pull the 4-speed out of it, throw it in the dirt, and put a 5-speed tranny in it. I have an HF 5-speed laying around just for the occasion.
