Worked all day so little progress was made. I think I like my BOV to have that metal look. Other option is to paint it flat black or get a Greddy Type-S.
lol you crushed it
im gonna do that tomorrow :v
[editline]2nd April 2011[/editline]
btw how much boost on the 20g?
I got it like that. Holds moar bewst.
Expect it to take at least 3x the amount of time you think it's going to take.
Going to start up on stock boost then work my tune up from there. The Buschur 20G is most efficient at 28lbs people say, so that's my goal.
All this talk of turboing.
I tuned up my Lawnmower. I even had to go to two different stores because Napa didn't have the spark plug for my Mower. :smug:
[editline]2nd April 2011[/editline]
And I drove my Grandpa around all day...He had a stroke 3 months ago, so he kinda stumbles over words and is a little slow. But he got to supervise me working on the Lawnmower so whatever.
Pulling my tools out of my CRX and waiting for the guy to call and bring my Hatch and some cash. :3

Bradley, you turbod your DPFI shit, right? You should tell me what you had to do to get it to run like that, how much boost, etc.
I don't want to drop $200 on a fucking ECU when I can wait and nab one off craigslist for $20 eventually.
But I want boost NOW.
5PSI, check valve on your MAP, and tap the intake for vacuum, don't run it off of the FPR or you'll run lean, and the only other places to run it (MAP and uh... I forget what the other is, on the TB) will either not run at all or like shit.
It's safe up to 8PSI, 5-6 is kinda weak. I wouldn't go up to 10 because it's a bit much for the regular old check valve, and it might throw off the MAP.
I regulated using wastegate spring, instead of a boost controller. Had a MBC for backup but never turned it down (turn it down from 5PSI? Why?) so you might be alright using a 12PSI spring and MBC.
It runs alright but expect weird idling, and maybe some CELs but they're harmless. Mine was for not having a MAP check valve at first (MAP code) and my O2 sensor (I didn't have one).
Everyone on D-series.org told me that it would explode if I tried to run turbo on DPFI, but I know what I'm doing. They're worse than Honda-Tech sometimes, which is funny because I once thought the opposite. It ran great though, never failed to start, like a top. The only problem I ever had was a cracked stainless manifold, so I switched to solid mounts and a cast minfold. Worked out alright for many thousands of miles and still running today, just traded it to a guy for my old EF hatch.
Anyways good luck, if you need anything else just ask. It's actually easier than running it on MPFI, since MPFI is tuned port injection and DPFI is closer to turbocharging a carbureted vehicle, since it's a constant-flow system. You really don't have to worry about anything up to ~10PSI or more, the main injector is sufficient and then the backup injector will quench if it is running too lean, and the backup injector hardly fires on N/A DPFI, so it can pick up quite a bit of slack. Just make sure you have a good one-wire O2 sensor and it should be alright.
Good luck bro. People told me it wasn't worth it to turbo a DPFI car but you'll definately feel the difference in power at the 4k+ mark. My high comp D16Y7/D15 build was nothing compared to the stock turbo'd D15B2.
Yeah, I've actually got a Y8 head I may throw on at some point too. I just wanted to hear your input on running it, I think I'll go ahead and follow in your foot steps for a while. My T25s have 7psi springs in them IIRC, but I think I'll turn that down a bit until I'm sure it will run alright. I'll probably throw in a wideband so I can watch it too.
Also, We can be EF buddys now =D
Awesome ;D I'm totally down for being EF buddies.
I park my hatch in my friend's (Japfeiffer) yard, he drives an EG and I drive an EF.
feelsgoodman.jpg
I'm so anxious to drive it, but it won't be updated on tags til Monday. Can't wait D:
Attempted adding some window tint with my brother to his car. Shit's a fucking DISASTER and we wasted 40 bucks plus about 5 hours on the whole project. :argh:
Never do tint yourself, unless you are a pro. It is impossible to do well without messing it up.
Well we had both helped a mutual friend out before and it was a simple process of apply the tint, cut, and squeegee the air out. The stuff we bought this time was an absolute disaster. We both have no interest in ever doing tint again.

Nice CRX DX with D16Z6, Jackson Racing Supercharger at 8PSI, built. It was clean as hell.
Japfeiffer raced him coming outta the drags but his stock civic hatch had no chance.
Can't deny that it was fun as hell though.
ALSO, I ran into an old car I had.
I bought this car a long time ago with this fugly flames paintjob, it's a EJ2, Civic Coupe DX. I paid $350 for it and had to slap another head on it. It was easy. Then I traded it for my CRX I had, which I swear to god they painted with the same paint:

Once I get the Catalina, I want to find out what my 0-60 time is. Might be bad for the engine though being it needs an overhaul. Last time I drove it it still had some scoot left in there.

Actually, there were alot of nice cars there. I just went to take pics of Hondas, not many people run imports out there because it's domestic territory.
The white CRX and the EF hatch were in the low 15s, the black CRX (No pic, sorry) was in the mid-15s, and there was an EK hatch there that would have been in the 14s if he could fucking shift. The EG was also in the 15s I believe.
Now that I think about it I think they were all D-series. Besides the tegs. Walked up to the EF hatch in the pits and they were tuning, pretty sure it was a Z6 but never got a good look under the hood.
I was hoping to see some DSMs but there was only one Dodge Stealth and he didn't run his car :(
As usual, 90% of the guys there were in foxbody and the uh... fox-4 platform, what is the nickname for that? I forget. But yeah, tons of those. They are like cockroaches on open drag nights like this.

Lolno. We started at 12 and he was working till 4am. And he's still not done :p
It took me a few hours to put mine on. And then I had to buy a new oil line. So really what took a full day could have been a few hours if I had a one-and-a-half inch longer oil line in the first place.
But hondas have like perfect exhaust manifold placement for turbos, longitudinal engines are a pain, and i dont even know where the turbo is on boxer engines

Well, true. Having the manifold right at the front of the car with nothing around it is quite nice.

That's how it mostly is here too, but there's still a bit of imports. There's also a decent DSM crowd around. When I went to the track with my N/A some guy in a GS-T chased me down and there was also a fwd 4g63 swapped colt.

I exaggerated a bit but you know what I meant. My turbo is taking fucking forever because every step along the way turns into a catastrophic failure and needs to be redone with a trip to the store for parts / bolts / etc. So ready to be done with this so I can just drive it again. It's 80F today and all the nice cars are out while mine is apart in the garage. Depressing.
Gave the car a wash today, went to take my floor mats up to wash them, and saw the carpeting by the door sills were soaking wet. So I unscrewed both visors, and partially removed the headliner to check out the sunroof drains. No wonder it's been leaking whenever it rains, both tubes had slipped off the drain nipples and everything was leaking right into the car. Glad I got that fixed though.

And then my car breaks on the drive so we're doing like 55 on the highway back to the house to finish the damn thing
I guess I had a tiny bit more luck than that. Got my car all back together though! One tiny problem... the wastegate is open at idle and makes my car sound open downpipe. Boosts somewhat fine though and hit 18 lbs. Went from 24 lbs/min at 14psi on the T-25 to 31.7 lbs/min on 18psi on the 20G. Pretty nice. Oh yeah I also misshifted back into 2nd. I need to stop doing that. Luckily I never let my clutch all the way out.
