I fixed my headlights with one of them 3M headlight restore kits. God damn, I knew my headlights were clouded but holy crap. I should have taken a picture after I did the first one and before I did the second one so I could show just how clouded they were, but the difference is like night and day.
Bought and put in new headlight bulbs too while I was at it.
[editline]7th April 2011[/editline]
I can actually see the bulbs through my lenses now.
Installed my MAP sensor wop wooop. (thing with green plug)

With this I can read / log boost on DSMLink. Doesn't spool till 4700 without the wastegate valve seal. Awesome. When it does spool though it's like a rocket ship. TORKS
i have to redo my pump again because the fuel injection hose is not rated for submersion
needs to be SAE30R10
Going to go work on standing on a street corner to get some money to pay for my water pump.
I'll be walking the streets of downtown Sapulpa, Oklahoma if anyone is looking for a good time. Mention you're from facepunch and I'll give you a good discount.
:smug:
[QUOTE=lemon_lover;29042544]Don't know if I told you guys but a couple days ago i started to hear my turbo spool getting louder, which i knew was my blades touching the housing. well today, it started to sound rattly, even at idle. so i said "fuck turbo disintegration" and took my car off of DD duty.
I started taking the piping off and heres what i found. not pretty.
[/QUOTE]
I can't see exactly what's wrong with it. One of the blades get chipped or something?
[QUOTE=Used Car Salesman;29052010]I can't see exactly what's wrong with it. One of the blades get chipped or something?[/QUOTE]
Looks like bad seal (Or I'm guessing, for the oil in the housing there) and the blades are pretty chewed up.
[QUOTE=bradley;29052476]Looks like bad seal (Or I'm guessing, for the oil in the housing there) and the blades are pretty chewed up.[/QUOTE]
Yep, blew the seal a week or two ago, and now the blades are scraping the housing about halfway down the blade
That sucks man. What do you plan on replacing it with?
Also, Japfeiffer (guy with the blue EG civic hatch) left his keys at lunch today. We rode with a friend so when we got back he had no keys.
Well, Honda used the same key blank in the fourth gen (EF) as the fifth gen (EG) so I try the key to my hatch in his door, wiggle it a little, and CLUNK! It unlocked. Haha.
It starts his car too. When he gets out of class here in about an hour we're going to go get his keys.
I cleaned my car today, really well

I have no idea. I was just about to buy coilovers to. I could do a few things I guess. Buy a T25 for like $150 and get my coils, Get a S15 T28, or have my car off the road for a few months and piece together a turbo kit with a GT3076R or a GT3582R or something.
Get a mid size turbo, lag sucks in a daily driver
What's bigger then a t28 but not a Garret monster?
I dunno, that quick spooling T25 is perfect for the car. Sure, you could go bigger, but T25s are cheap right now and you don't want to be out of it for that long do you?
I say new T25 and coils.
[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
Got my water pump on, still overheating at mid-range RPM on the highway and in town. Did a compression test to make sure it wasn't the head gasket, all cylinders are 155 - 160 - 165 - 175 so I'm perfectly fine there. Changing the thermostat because it is the most likely thing (and it's cheap) and going to bleed the cooling system, should be good to go after that.
how much is a t28? you don't have to max out the turbo right off the bat, keep stock fueling
[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
i dunno if I blew my stock turbo i'd hate to rebuy the same one despite how cheap it is
Hmm. You have a point. But it all depends on the brand. Was the T25 a cheapo clone or was it something good? If it was a good turbo and you still managed to destroy it, then yeah maybe something a little bigger would be better.
S15 turbo. 300hp flow and spools quick as shit.
GOD FUCK SHIT!
One thing after another. THe head broke off of a spout bolt when pulling my thermostat out. Just spent an hour fighting it out with vice grips.
I'm going to punch the guy who had my car for like ~5 months. He obviously let this thing freeze up over winter by putting straight water in it. I'm so pissed. He treated this thing like crap and it shows.
[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
Got the thermostat in. About to go drive it to see if it heats up on me. Wish me luck, Facepunch.
[QUOTE=Del91;29027915]My moms car trunk hits everyone in the head all the time, and smashed my grandpas hand yesterday. In fact, the hood has the same type of lift too so it doesn't stay open either. :argh:
She's got a Chrysler Concorde. Did you order them online or can you get them from a local Auto parts shop?[/QUOTE]
I got them from Advanced Auto Parts, I figured that the time and shipping on online stuff would make it really not worth the trouble. Smaller lifts should be cheaper too; you should really look into doing it.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllllll yes!
Turns out the thermostat I pulled out was the wrong one, it was missing the tube and plate on the back that blocks one heater hose and redirects it through the thermostat when it is open. Popped my new thermostat in there courtesy of Japfeiffer, and boom - No more overheating. What happened is without that tube, hot air and water collected in the heater core and thus circulating water never really cooled down.
I'm so happy. This thing was a battle all day, but after a new water pump and thermostat she's doing great.
Time to do some body work! Anyone know where I can get a set of fenders for a '90 Civic Hatch? Just bone stock american ones, I can't afford JDM fenders with the markers (even though that would be slick as hell).
Also I need the hatch spoiler. I bent mine the other day. AH, good grief.

Removed the poorly done tinting job from the driver and passenger side front windows on the Jeep and shampooed the carpet in the cargo area. Also had the idea to wipe down the rubber fittings on the outside with tire shine to get the wax off and make the windows look newer. Tomorrow I'm going to the junk yard to track down some interior pieces and then I'll get the tinting from the top of the windshield. I'm thinking of taking off the rest of the trim since some of it's missing and spraying those areas with bed liner.

It was a OEM Garrett lol
14psi, which is maxing out the turbo, in florida heat.
The thing is, to upgrade the turbo any higher than the T25, means new MAF, injectors, and a tune to control the new/bigger stuff. So if I'm going to have to get that stuff either way, why not just get a good one?
[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
The T25 was/is too small, I want a turbo power curve where it starts to spool at like 3000 to 4000rpm, and builds all the way to redline, not max boost at 3500rpm and then taper to 6500rpm and drop off before redline
[editline]8th April 2011[/editline]
but i guess im going to buy a t25, throw it on, and then piece together a setup so i can just throw it all on at one time and go get it tuned
Sounds like a good idea.
I'm really tempted to go for boost on my hatch.... But I digress. It's a costly setup to do and the IC and piping is pretty hard to fit in the tiny civic's bay. Might just look into getting a Z6/A6 block, bore it .5mm and stroke it with a D17 crank, some Vitaras (Mostly used for turbo but I like them for N/A high comp too) and maybe an Exospeed or Bisi regrind for D16 Non-VTEC, run my same head, do MPFI swap...
Eh, then again, it runs GREAT right now and I'd like to keep it that way and focus on making the outside not look like shit. Plus I need to do some exhaust work... It's got a nice bellow to it, but you can hear it from a mile away right now. Needs something to quiet it down about half of what it is now.

Mine full spools around 3800 and pulls hard to redline at 22 psi. It is awesome.
I always liked the T-25 and I estimate my car made 250whp with it. It's a fun turbo and all but really once you feel the pull of a bigger turbo the T-25 just won't do it anymore.
Well now that I got it mechanically sound I started on exterior.

Turns into:

Got some dings to fix yet, also need a set of 90-91 corners, thinking about going with clears and doing a "boser" hood. Also need to get more clips for the trim. I got the driver's side trim all back on (before it had none on it but the quarter trim)

Sorry for the cell pics, my camera is dead.
Oh yeah, got a D16Z6 for free. only needs a clutch.
Z6 with a Z6 tranny? If you don't use the block you can totally send it my way.
Been looking for a Z6 or A6 block.... I've got a D15B with D16Y7 head in my hatch and I'm looking for a D16 block so I can do H-beams, Vitaras, and the likes. Something beefy on bottom so I can do whatever at the top.
Also looking for an MPFI conversion harness and resistor box..... But that's not top priority. I'm still the fastest DPFI Civic around (Since my CRX is gone now) :smug:
Hey ROFL, you woulden't happen to still have a throttlebody laying around for a PGM-FI D15B2 would ya?
Oh yeah, shit I forgot about that. I've got two now actually, PM me some shipping info eh? you needed a MAP or TPS or?
Bradley, I just happen to have a bunch of stuff laying around now that I've got a whole Z6. I've actually got a whole Y8 block if you are looking to have it hot-tanked, honed, etc. I wouldn't use it if you didn't have it machined though.
