[QUOTE=>VLN<;27677393]edberg, I have lost all my respect for your knowledge about cars.[/QUOTE]
oh noooooooo
i think he was thinking that you were thinking that oil filters replenish detergents which i cant think why unless you were thinking that in which case i think haha oh wow
also you could try adding heavier weight oil since the old oil thins out
or i could get my engine pulled and get all new seals
nah just kidding, i'd rather just pay like $10 for a new quart every month
what seal is leaking
[editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
if it was a crank seal or some shit i'd understand but valve covers and other miscellaneous things are easy
Well the guy i bought it from said that the only oil leak he knows of is "from the timing cover (which is also the oil pump's housing) directly underneath the head"
but the shop i go to said it's leaking "everywhere" lmao
[editline]26th January 2011[/editline]
so if thats the only one it could be fixed if i ever need a new headgasket but i dont want to go through that if it's not vital
run thicker oil?
[editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
and dont use synthetic lol
i plan on it
and
isnt synthetic oil like black hair, once you go black, you cant go back
no its the other way around
When my engine gets low I just top it off with with vegetable oil to compliment the E85.
And then my exhaust smells like popcorn.
You do realize that is an extremely bad thing to do.
Vegetable oil is no substitute to oil, especially with it being somewhat explosive.
[editline]27th January 2011[/editline]
And not being a good lubricant for you engine.
Your sarcasm meter needs an oil change.
:irony:
I meant detector, lol.
What the fuck walmart
I went in hoping to find some 0W-30 dino oil, they only had 1 0W-30 and it was synthetic.
I ended up getting 5W-30, which I guess will work for now.
Also, I spent $50 of money I had saved up (I'm saving up for spring, because we usually have financial problems then) on gas and a couple quarts of oil, so my mom gave me $100 to replace it. My mom is awesome.
Pep Boys is actually cheaper and they have all the oil you need.

Pep Boys is 80+ miles away, not driving that far for oil.

i don't understand
Today I took my v8 ford explorer to the shop cause I can't even begin to wonder how I can replace the starter, I can't even find the starter (and I know what a starter looks like) cause it's such a complicated set up, ontop of the fact that I have no clue what I'm doing.
REPAIR AHOY! 250hp INBOUND. It's been out of commission since fucking Jan. 1st.
Explorer engine bays are always packed tight but it's tucked up on either the (should be) right side of the block, just in front of the bell housing of the transmission (where the transmission bolts to the engine block).
Nice 02' by the way.

Yeah, starters usually aren't that tough, but it's completely hidden.

go buy this
i've got a 10" JBL subwoofer that my dad bought and never unboxed, and he's giving it to me. he said he had an amp for it laying around somewhere that I have yet to find, what else will I need?
also what's the best way to run wires and what not? i haven't done wiring in a car yet.
You'll need some large gauge wire to power your amp, a fuse for the amp power wire, speaker wire, remote turn on wire, rca cable. I think thats about it for wires.
As for running the wires, I run the power wire from the positive battery terminal through the firewall and under the driver side kick panel plastics, and under all the other panels to the trunk and then i run the rca cable and remote wire on the passenger side. for the amps ground you'll just grind the paint off somewhere near where you mount it and attach the ground wire there.
You'll probably need a box for it too. or make one. wiring isn't too hard, just make sure the car is off.

spent the day getting my mate's (freely acquired) 740 in the garage before the blizzard, has a flat and doesn't run. we got to the throttle body (along with removing all sorts of other little things) before calling it a night.
I'll pop in this thread every time we make progress.
What part of Ohio?
