Damn near, lol. I'm contemplating where to put it on my Wagon. May hang it from the tow hook, I'm going to matte black the wagon and tint the windows black soon.
I put shift bushings in my bro's '93 Civic EJ2, also mounted the EX wing on his trunk. The bitch pin still has a lot of slop so there's tons of sideways play in the shifter. :/
Saturday I'm swapping heads with him, I'll be going back to a D15B1/2/7 style head, where he'll be getting my D16Y7 head. He likes the look of it better *shrug* personally I don't care, I had the Y7 head for the bump in compression, but my bottom end is old (200k+ on it) so I'll use the D15B7 head until my bottom end goes BANG and then slap in my D16Z6.
Anyone here weld? I want to learn to weld since I'm going to need that skill for what I want to do in life. Also so I can build a tube front for my coupe. I think I need to learn TIG for stainless steel and aluminum? Basically for chassis work, like roll cages and tubs, and exhaust work like manifolds and such
TIG is good for aluminum, you can MIG stainless though. I can weld pretty decently, it's not pretty but it holds. I learned with stick, after that MIG was easy.
I'm a pretty decent welder. For anything structural, you'll probably just want to mig it. Tig machines are spensive, and Tig is more show than anything.

I believe that would be ARC you're referring to. My dad has an ARC welder he used to build a 1,600 pound (empty) trailer for hauling all manner of shit. I don't know what "TIG" welding is, but I find I'm decent with MIG (wire feed). I'm to scared to use the ARC, as its power is 220v which can turn me into a crispy critter.

I've read the opposite?
why do you say that?

Yeah, Arc welding is what I meant. It's generally referred to as "stick welding" (because you use sticks) where TIG is generally referred to as "gas welding" since it uses tungsten gas and w/e.
Also, TIG can be structural, I just don't feel it's as strong of a weld as MIG or stick, since those leave a very thick amount of metal behind where TIG is sort of meh. If I had a TIG welder, I'd definately use it for everything though. Probably the easiest one to master, but the most expensive one to buy.
Generally, if you're building a tube front end, use stainless steel and a MIG welder. Stay away from aluminum for structural bits, that stuff will wad up into paper mache if you ever bump into someone again. Worse so than the stock steel sheet metal. I'd say go with stainless steel angle and box up the front end, then drill holes to bolt everything up after you've mocked it up.
If you want something really tough, use 0.095" thick gas pipe. That stuff isn't too heavy and it's tough as nails, but it'll rust easy unless you coat that shit in undercoating or plastikote. It's the same stuff we use to build full-car rollcages from. Not a loop and downbars, mind you, this is pretty much making the entire car out of the stuff and then riveting sheet metal on. Worked great on the dirt track, I don't think we've ever even had a roll cage bend on us. I remember my sister's old Neon she had, it had a similar cage that my dad built, and the car took a hard impact to the left rear. The body ripped away from the cage, but the cage and chassis remained intact, and this being a unibody car that was a pretty hard hit.
Ah, anyways, I'm rambling. When we used the 0.095" thick gas pipe (I think it was 1.5" diameter? Maybe 1.75" but definately not 2") we would either mig or arc it, either worked great. I don't reccomend arc weld on stainless, it really messes with the integrity of the metal and weakens it more than it should be weakened.
Just my $0.02 on all of this.
Ah there we go. I have no RPM gauge but it sounds like 1.5k rpm and that is just waaay too high :v:
Brotip, tachometers are ass-easy to install.

welding aluminium is so hard
guys what is all this stuff in my floor

what does it do all i know is da one thing has a spinny thing in it an it all is so heavy aslo wut are the hosed for i'm not sure is this car related i don't even know
(It's a Big 16G, if you wanted to know. I think it'll do better than a T3 for a small setup.)
I've read the opposite?

Because TIG is a bastard to do, and its all about finesse. generally done on manifolds and intercooler piping and such. I wouldn't put tigging an entire frame together on anyone.
Oh yeah, BRADLEYYYYYYY, turbo questions about oil stuff.
I'm running a mitsu T25 with the circle flange thingy. Only thing I'm missing is an oil feed. Any idea if I need a restrictor, and any preference on how to feed it? I was thinking a filter sandwich plate, but I'm not sure if I need to use a restrictor on this turbo.
The turbo I'm running is similar (Big 16G is the same flange as the T25, both Mitsubishi turbos) and I use a restrictor. In fact, there's never a time when I wouldn't reccomend running one. 60-70PSI of oil pressure can't be good for the seals, I'm sure they aren't rated for that.
I'm running my feed off of the oil filter, sandwiching that bitch. I'm using a glow shift sandwich, they're relatively cheap and it seems to be of good quality.

I'm going to try and grab Jap's VX manifold when he takes it off, and make an adapter plate to run this 16G on it. He's wanting to keep A/C so he wants to get a log. I don't HAVE A/C so I don't give a shit. If all goes well, I should be mildly boosted within a week or two, at between 8-11 PSI (maybe 12? Mixed signals on the big 16G's IWG)
I still need an intercooler. I need to find someone with a DSM side mount and steal that fucker.
check if there is already a restrictor on the turbo, mine has one so I removed it from the line
Yeah, that. But, IIRC, all MHI turbochargers were line-restricted.
I guess it's something greddy put in, I don't think normal 18g's have it

Our Work truck fleet, all higher model Hemis. Fun to drive, and i don't have to pay for gas!
Just serviced the Lude and gave the back brakes a once over, each caliper was completley seized up... Makes sense as to why the handbrake wasn't working. 3 hours later and a fuckload of seized bolts, she's on top form again.
Putting the DX exhaust on Jap's VX hatchback, the VX manifold has a pre-cat built in. Also doing some fitting for a Mitsubishi Big 16G, which after a lot of contemplation, I think I can make it fit with the VX style manifold without removing his A/C.
