(99 grand am SE1) replaced the spark plugs and PCV valve. unfucked the wiring job the last owner did for the foglights and started to replace the injectors and started what will basically amount to a top end rebuild
Oh my god. You have Chinese HIDs in your crx eh ?
Yes, what of it? They came with the car. A lot of the front wiring harness is hacked up, I had to rewire and zip-tie in that fan (EG fan, so it doesn't mount right) and I still don't have the wiring pigtails for my bumper lights. Or a core support.
It's an ongoing project.

Sick as fuck, Ferosso.
As always.
383 is on the engine stand, while taking the rings out that sat in each cylinder one broke, so I have to buy a new ring for it. Engine is bored .030 over so it's a 388 which isnt a big gain, I'm pretty sure its stock stroke too. Going to clean the shit out of it tomorrow, its all painted and good to go, it's just sat for a while. I should have everything to build it although my dad said we might be missing a few things but I guess I could order them on the side.
Man I can't image how you guys do half this stuff without half the things I have. My large crane and car lift are a godsend, I also have every machine to do pretty much anything.
Last night I fished up my roof mounted lights and I just now finished reattaching my muffler

the last Honda motor I pulled, I yanked the head off of it and then unbolted the block from the tranny and picked it up out of the car myself. Everything is aluminum and pretty light, and a motor sans coolant and oil is really not that heavy at all.
I remember going to the salvage where we bought Jap's old JDM D15B, it was a brand new motor someone dropped in a car and then wrecked the car. We bought the motor from the salvage for $300, and then went to pick it up, the owner's son was there and picked the entire engine (sans manifolds, but with head/rocker cover intact) and set it in the bed of my truck on a tire. Was pretty crazy, it takes me and Jap to pick a complete D-series motor up.

Oh, today I am taking a break from working on the Cutlass. I'm so close to having it running/driving.
I got me an ooooold Winchester 22 rifle and I'm cleaning it up, about to go shoot it.
Finally fixed my Amp and CD Changer.
Now when my sub woofer woof's the amp rattles on the mount so it sound's like the bumper is falling off.
And The CD Changer is... well there. The mount does not fit on my avant, was meant for a sedan. And on top of that the fucking adapter I told the dude to include is gone. FML. (Some one prev stole the cd changer out of the car before I got it and cut the wire that goes from the cd changer to the head unit.)
boost leaking soo badly my car stop accelerating @ 9psi
gotta fix that

Where did you get these from? I've been looking for a set like this for my EP2 Civic, this is the style I'm after:

Also, cheap coilovers or some decent lowering springs?
P.S: jealous of all you guys big workshops to tinker with your car in :c
my dad built this in our tiny garage though, MK indy kit car with a brand new rover 1.8 Turbo K series engine in it :o (which he got for free because they didn't need them at work)
0-60 is about 5.5 seconds, driving around with the blow off valve all like pshooo sshhooooooooo gofrgegregtegte

our garage is fairly big, but after you account the 2 lathes 2 milling machines a shaping machine and a workbench, it isnt that big
our garage is fairly big, but after you account the 2 lathes 2 milling machines a shaping machine and a workbench, it isnt that big
Rub in the jealousy even further :(
I wish our garage was a little bigger
it's a two car garage, but we have a lawn trailer and car in it, so there isn't much room left
Well hopefully we are getting a rented garage soon to put the car in, so there will be more room for building the engines up :D
have giant garage
too bad it was built in the assteen hundreds so the dimensions are for cars the size of Model T fords.
:v:
My dad and me may build a 3 bay garage with one of those undercar service gulley things.
I have a MASSIVE garage, eventually even more massive(we are extending it). houses 3-4 cars, has a upstairs level complete with a drumkit, 2 couches, parts storage, and a minifridge. Has a bird bath, and on the other side if that is a crapper with another sink. Has engine building room and in-between it and the crapper is like a sit down and think or watch tv area.
I have no garage -.- I wish we had 1.. So i could work on my car when its raining
I own an auto shop.
Except my dad operates the whole thing.
It's just in my name.
Also, we're about to build a completely new building.
there's even more shit in there now, engine assembly area, air compressor, pile of KA24 parts from my friend

We have a little tiny 3/4 car garage that empty cannot fit a car, and with all of our tools and parts, you just barely have a little isle to squeeze through sideways.

Should have kept the stock air filter.

Pics soon of a Daimler V8 build from scratch, doing it with my dad oooh fun
replaced the drive belt and idler pulley on the ls400. idler pulley bearings seized, causing the drive belt to do a burnout on it until it snapped.

Yeah i know, it's just the return hose for the smog, recirculates unused blahblahblah. Don't need it unless I'm trying to pass emissions, and i need to put the stock exhaust back on to do that anyways. Regardless, I'm getting some hose monday to splice it back into the intake, like it originally would.
And why should i have kept the stock air filter? Because it looks pretty? Sorry bud, i don't go to car shows. The only person that ever looks under that hood is moi. The way it's setup now I'm seeing an increase of at least 10 HP, if not more. I'm not going to get rid of a more powerful, smoother running setup just because the previous looks better. If i give some of those parts a coat of black paint and wash the engine bay it will probably look just as good as any one of your guys' ricer cars anyways so i don't see the big deal.
You should definately find someone with a tubing bender and get a couple of silicon couplers down the road, less baffles will create better flow and you'll get even more benefit. And then you can just drill a hole for your smog/PCV and get some fittings with hose nipples on them to screw in to the holes (get a tap for the size fitting you get on the nipple).
It's not hard to make a CAI if you've got some tubing and a bender. If you want, use regular muffler tubing, it's cheap and thin and is pretty thermally stable. Just make sure you coat the inside and out in a high temp enamel, like the spray can stuff. It works wonders, it really does, smooths the surface of the pipe and stops rust. Coat it and let it sit for a day and then install it, simple as pie.
Good luck bro. Ignore cNova, he drives a Fiat.
Painted the text on my engine cover red for fun:
Used masking tape and cut around the letters:

Then painted it:

Sweet D17 brah. Bastard child D motors, but the coolest looking ones.

are you gonna say that for me too because I drive a hyundai :(

D16, actually :v
but yeah, :(
Also, whats with the funny/friendly rating?
They don't have a D16 in the EP Civic, unless you live in Asia.
You had best check your engine stamp again. No dizzy, coilpacks, OBD2b with a cam sensor, D17 head obv. because of manifolds (D15/D16/D13 etc. have the same flange patterns, D17 doesn't, same with ZC/DOHC D16), and then it being covered with the VTEC and not VTEC-E plastic tells me it's a D17A2. Although it could easily be a D17A6 (VTEC-E) with a swapped valve cover... cover.
Pic of engine stamp please. Tell me you know where it is, otherwise how would you even think it was a D16?
Funny rating I don't know, friendly was me because I'm the local Honda guy. I have owned EGs/EFs, currently have a EF hatch and EE9 'Rex, the Rex being my daily until winter. Of course, I have other vehicles, but I mainly play with Honda because it's easy.

Trust me, it's a D16, for starters it has it's 1.6 badge on the back of the car, and yes I have seen the engine stamp, it's on the front and to the left of the block. It's a D16V1, it's not the most common D series engine and it doesn't even seem to be on the list of D series engines on wikipedia :o

I blurred out the serial number (or whatever it is) because I've heard too much about forgeries on documents and nasty nasty people :tinfoil:
