468 cubes, stacked a bearing in #8, #8 cylinder was also egged and cracked, busted the oil ring. #4 cylinder had bad skirt slap. Owner was told $14,000 was in the motor... Ran the numbers, it's a block from 1983-1987 with matching factory cast iron crank 1983-1987, both from a light duty truck. Someone knife edged the crank up and slapped some Brodix Big Brodies on it and called it a day.
Guy really got ripped off. Gave $10k for the Camaro and now he needs another motor. Tried talking him into small block but he really wants the torque of a big block in there. Oh well.
That really sucks too, because there's nothing he can do about it; No way to get the money back.
WHAT THE HELL HAVE I DONE!

Helo HE 832 170$ each. Good Year Eagle LS-2 ROF 300$ each.
Got both a set of wheel's and rubber's for 500$. Not bad. The rim's even came with a special lock bolt's.
why
Uhhh I do not know why. I needed new tires on my car so I looked around and my dad found a post in the new's paper. It was cheaper to buy that than to buy just the rubber's.
I will be selling those rim's very... very... soon.
Good.

You really don't know the right use for 's do you?
You really don't know the right use for 's do you?
Nope! I just throw them in when ever I want.
So uh, since I'm trading my CRX Si to Japfeiffer for his hatch, he's having me do a few things:
Suspension is going from:

To stock height:

(He will be using stock CRX Si wheels, my old phone dials, and I am keeping mine. They are going on the EG hatch.)
Oh, and then a few other small things:

It should be on the road by tomorrow. When he brings me some slim fans I'll be able to get it all back together. Going to run a brass rad in it for an EG, we have one (apparently they are pretty hard to get ahold of, normal EG rads are plastic.) and it'll be titled a little.
Chinese turbo, it'll hold up for the small boost he's running though. T3/T4 hybrid IWG, 8PSI, Si B000 tranny, DSM 1G BOV, etc. etc. It's a good base setup. Get a better turbo later, build up his spare Z6 block with some H beams and a guard, and he's set for life as far as boost. Only thing he needs now is to order him a PR4 and get me a ROM burner so I can street tune it for him.
Using scrap pipes I created a full exhaust for my rampage. The muffler was missing when I pulled it from out back so it's been running a straight pipe all the way to about the rear wheels. The full exhaust consists of the stock full pipe, then to some stainless steel piping, and finally to a hunk of aluminum tubing. The new exhaust goes from the rear drivers side wheel, in front of the axle, then infront of the passengers side wheel facing forward. It sounds like ass, it's a little quieter than before, but it looks awesome/funny. Out of boredom I tried some experimental fart cans which consisted of a beer can, a Gatorade bottle, a old leaf blower tube, a potato cannon, and a good old 4 inch piece of pipe.
The beer can had the bottom cut off so the exhaust had to come out the top, when I rev'd it the backfiring caused the can to crackle a lot.
The gatorade bottle didn't sound too bad, better than without it so I left it on.
The leaf blower tube was straight so it didn't do too much.
The potato cannon muffled the sound quite a bit, too big to keep it on though.
The 4 inch pipe was loud and annoying, makes sence.

I find it funny that it sounds *better* with the gatorade bottle on, so you left it on.
it's completely done! :D

Bolt-in EG rad barckets I fabbed up. Not pretty but they work.
Got the intercooler on right before we left, haven't tightened all the piping down, once I do and hook up the boost gauge I'll fire it up and see how it does being force fed. I let it idle shortly with the piping off to check for leaks, I went ahead and used a sandwich at the oil filter instead of the brass T from the sending unit because I would have had to pull the intake manifold, fuck that.
Anyways, tomorrow: Tighten down IC piping, fill it full of coolant, run it a bit to make sure it isn't going to explode, trim the front bumper... That's about it. Jap's also going to pay my dad to fix the quarters on the CRX while it's in the shop, and my dad's cutting him a pretty good deal on it.
Everything's going together pretty well. Been about 2 days of constant fiddling with it at my shop so far, between doing flats and other junk, should be all finished at least Friday. Don't want to just slap it together and say "here you go!", gotta run it a little bit before I hand him the keys. It'll be Jap's first boosted ride, he's excited.
One of my first times showing the bad side...This is not metal, it feels like glass but...Well I'm not sure exactly what it is. How can i regain the color in it? If i paint the car, this is the only thing that will be wrong with it. The windshield wipers have it as well, but those are easily paintable. Not sure what do to with this..?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/rnesm.jpg[/t]
Apparently it's metal and just has a weird finish on it. Stupid me, guess i wasn't really paying any attention when i looked at it the first time.
I haven't worked on them today, but the last thing I did do was replace the upper and lower front ball joints on both sides of my 1985 F150.
I broke two 1/2" drive rachets trying to press the right lower out. It sounded like a .308 going off when it finally popped free. New ones went in without a fuss though.

$22 worth of wax.

Money well spent imo.

How many uses you think you can get with something like that? Is it a pretty big tub/bottle or is it fairly small
Quite a bit. You only have to apply a really thin layer. I must have at least 15 more uses
If you don't mind spending some $$$, Look up ZAINO. Shit looks great and beads water for like 6 months. I have 9 coats currently on my car.
That ultimate paste wax is what I use. Absolutely worth the money. It looks better than any other wax I've ever used.
I devised a plan to troll tailgaiters near my house
Step 1: put on the wrong turn signal and move over to the right so they cant pass on shoulder
>mad begins
step 2: Brake fucking forever as fuck
step 3: Dead stop at house intersection thing
step 4: Change turn signals, turn into driveway
Possible step 5: break faices with tyre iron
????????
profit
My favourite actual wax (Zaino is a synthetic Polymer so it reacts differently, and doesnt wear as fast, and cant be washed off without a really strong degreasing soap) is AutoGlym's HD wax. They have a great line of products in general actually.
Worked on a 96 Ford Probe SE today, was a nightmare and it's not over. Tomorrow is the day for the finishing touches such as oil and filter change. See the reason for the work, was a head gasket replacement. I'll try to remember some pics tomorrow.
The work has included:
Head gasket
Permatex sealant
thermostat install and gasket (there wasn't one)
Intake gasket
Oil and filter change (not done, tomorrow)
1hr and 30 min battle with the timing and it's belt. (The skin on my hands hate me, cuts/scrapes everywhere)
Exhaust to intake pipe thingum. (WTF is it for, EPA or somethin'?)
Hood.
Oh the crap I put myself through for a lady friend... :/
Replaced my driver's side header in the '87 Fifth Ave today after the old one rusted through and started leaking. What an incredible pain in the ass, had to undo both motor mounts and jack the motor over a few inches to get enough clearance, and header bolts are a nightmare to line up. Finally, when it was all bolted up, I found that the new header was about 1/2 an inch too short to mate to the rest of the exhaust system. So I rigged it with some longer bolts and drove across town to the exhaust shop with essentially an open header on a 318.
Yeah, I think I pissed a few people off on the way.
Happily, everything is much quieter, and I think it seals a little better than the old one. Headers are such a pain in the ass, but I think they're worth it for the performance difference over manifolds, and the general amusement at the fact that nobody else can believe you're crazy enough to run them on a daily driver.
Finished my old car and got it to Japfeiffer:

(Got the bumper back on and blacked out the IC too)
Took delivery of my new car:

wut?
Also, I didn't work on shit today. Well, I painted my friend's EJ2 in my shop. It's white now. Oh, and I got INTERRUPTED a fucking TON by JAPFEIFFER who can't handle miniscule problems on his own car.

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, YOU ARE GETTING A NEW ECU TOMORROW. AND CARRY SOME GOD DAMN TOOLS AND TWO JUGS OF WATER. Who on this fucking planet pieces a turbo kit together, bolts it on a car, and then drives away with no fucking tools or spare hoses and shit in case something breaks? Use some common fucking sense bro.
Anyways, putting a new thermostat in it tomorrow. IF YOU READ THIS BEFORE I CATCH YOU, IF THERE IS A LOWER TEMP THERMOSTAT GET IT. Then we're going to put a brand new hose on it (heater hose from the head). And then I'm going to slap my PM6 in it and drive it to OKC to get a PR4, then drive it back and put the PR4 in, or try the PR4 out and see how it does on the way back.
Regardless, I'll be working out some kinks tomorrow. And then maybe he won't fucking destroy it for at least more than a fucking day. afjnlgkjnlgkak
