I figure just getting a kit and doing the whole thing would be best since the tensioner and guide rails are probably disintegrating as well. The engine is a 2.8 VR6.
It's a set of gear drives that replaces the typical timing chain on a V8 engine. [editline]24th September 2011[/editline] I love the sound they make, sounds almost like a supercharger:
So Japfeiffer came out in the CRX, replaced hoses and a thermostat, got it back together. Boost leak from reducer going to compressor housing so it's not boosting (or if it is, very little). Anyways, we decide to take it on our 2 hour drive to OKC to pick up an ECU, and on the way there it does great but it warms up a bit, 190-200 or so. So on the way back we stop at a cool soda shop, get some drinks, and then pop the hood off and throw it in the back. Not getting enough air to the rad, going to have to drop the rad down. Then we managed to get it up to ~103 on no boost just accelerating from 65 in 5th gear on the turnpike. Was fun. We slowed down after that because he was already in a terrible driving position (we had to scoot the seats forward to fit the hood in the back). Good work. I need to find out if my grandma would allow me to use her garage so I could do some work... I have no garage ;( I'm sure she wouldn't mind... my grandfather passed away so I'm sure she'd be glad to see the garage actually get some use.
Thanks man, spent hours prepping it. The paint Justin brought was terrible, like it had been frozen or something, didn't want to shoot right. So we went with some other white that was identical shade (Arctic White) and shot it anyways. Turned out great for what it is. [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] Also, don't know if automerge will work, but:
Upgraded my transmission mount among others, feels like a new car, clutch is way more responsive and gearshifts are much snappier, controls no longer feel like that of a huge numb truck which stock wrx's tend to do also lightbar is back

how the pleasure or breaking one of these in my toy
..what?
I've been seeing a lot of jumbled messes for posts the last few hours here in the AA forum...I was going to say there must be a ~bad-typing-virus~ going around or something but when i think about it, I'm pretty sure they all came from him.
or he's posting from a phone [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] nvm chrome
or he's posting from a phone [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] nvm chrome
yeah i need to learn to reread what i type...
oh now I see what you're saying that shit ain't fun, man
it was bound to burst considering how swelled up it is
fixed the throw out bearing srs this time i forgot to grease the joints the previous two times ._.
Finished matte'ing out my Civic because I got tired of my hatch above the lights being gold still. It actually looks a hundred times better. If it was straight, I wouldn't mind leaving it this way. And then I went to Borellus' house and we cruised around in his CRX getting some duck feed and budgeting things for our new business!
So, I figured this thread would be a good place to ask, any suggestions on things to do to my Chevy S10? (1996). I have to buff out a few dents and touch up the paint, but I have no idea about anything other than that. I'll probaly also bleed my brakes soon and put some new fluid in.
A general service? couldnt hurt
I try and do that everytime I get a new vehicle. Master Brake Cylinder, Oil, Tranny Fluid, etc etc.
You shouldn't just do it when you buy the vehicle, you should do it every x amount of miles depending on the vehicle (if you didn't already know, kinda common sense around the DIY world though) Mine is every 3k miles, but i need to add a quart of oil every 800-1000 miles or so. Rotaries love oil :3 [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Infact just yesterday i went out and bought a quart and a new oil filler cap and topped it off. Old cap was missing the gasket to seal it so even with it cranked with a wrench it still leaked with overflow or w/e. No more, now.

Because it was missing the gasket to seal it and if i hand tightened it oil spilt out everywhere on my engine block? I'd rather ruin a 4 dollar shit-cap than have hot engine oil spewing out everywhere. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Not like i did it very hard either, just tightened it enough to try and seal it as best i could, and it still wasn't enough to keep it sealed.
Changed oil on Dad's Taurus today, nothing major.
Throughly cleaned the hood and roof on the Jeep today and switched out the screws holding the roof rack trim in place with screws that had bigger heads and put on some goo-ish sealing stuff so now the roof shouldn't leak any more water :v: Tomorrow I'll hose the shit out of it and check if water gets in anywhere and if it doesn't I'll put in the headlining that me and dad put new fabric on a few days ago. Then I'll put in the rest of the interior. progress at last
I "reattached" the temperature knob. I put the quotes since I just placed it back on it even though the little plastic thing sheared off and the cord broke, so it's just a visual knob now.
Is mgear the only one with a manual transmission who doesn't cockwave all day about it
Is mgear the only one with a manual transmission who doesn't cockwave all day about it
I got two manuals and one auto :v:
-snip- It is manual, misunderstood. Still not his car though :D not yet anyways. [editline]28th September 2011[/editline] Fucker tricked me, it is an automatic after-all. You sly fox you.
So today I put a new intake manifold on the EG hatch and finished the DSM td05/Honda HF manifold adapter. Should be able to fit and keep AC, if not I'll yank it apart and try again. Also, guys, I'm thinking about starting an import shop, or a tuning website, chipping ECUs and shit for cheap. Good idea? Bad idea? Let me know what you guys think.
