Hell no, I didn't buy that rusting pile of shit. Haha. It runs though, can't complain, $250, has a bad EGR leak so it stumbles a bit. It is my friend Brandon's, we've been getting it running. I've been showing him the ropes. Rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust rust

If you can't handle rust, you should never ever come to Norway :v:
I can handle rust, but this car is pretty bad. It's just going to be his beat-around, his first car, until he can get something better or afford to completely replace the floorpans and quarters. And rockers. And some bits of the frame.
WHAT HAVE I DONE V3 Well today I finally fixed my dead door. (The power connection's were broke) [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/Img%20Dump/IMAG0179.jpg[/t] Now my window roll's up and down! :v: Sad part is, It roll's down when it should be rolling up. And rolls up when it should be going down. So when I use my key fob to roll up my window's THAT ONE window stays down. :suicide:
I just have to say: Just drop all the ' and you'll be right much more often than you are :D
I just have to say: Just drop all the ' and you'll be right much more often than you are :D
I'm Trying :( I got in the habit of adding them on everything like a year ago...
clutch is slipping pretty bad in 5th, usually when its under 70f dunno if dying or added power from cold air
Just finished pulling the transmission from my Jetta. Can't proceed just yet with removing clutch/flywheel to get at the timing chain since I need a triple square socket but holy shit after hours of pulling and harsh language finally getting it to drop out was the best feeling ever.
WHAT HAVE I DONE V3 Well today I finally fixed my dead door. So when I use my key fob to roll up my window's THAT ONE window stays down. :suicide:
Well, if the positive for the windows switch and the FOB are the same, as in from the same circuit, just swap the positive lines. Like: A = Positive Up B = Positive Down A = A B = B to A = B B = A In theory, it should fix the problem. But check first with a multimeter so you don't blow something.
Well... It's just weird. I already blew 2 fuses scene I "fixed" it. I'm thinking there is a larger issue some were. I'm going to order a Repair Manual n lot's o shit for it. And on the swapping the lines. I did that and it blew a fuse, all light's in that door, window switch, Door A Jam sensor, and Courtesy light's. :suicide: VAG QUALITY PART'S (lul I sayed vag)
Well shit, it sounds to me like the line is broke somewhere else also, how far have you checked the lines coming from your door? I've had to pull the whole door apart on a friends truck before and follow the wires all the way up into the dash to find all the breaks. Anyway, best of luck to ya and I hope you get your problem fixed. If you lived in my area, I'd be more then happy to help out, troubleshooting and fixing stuff is kinda my thing.

What would you guys say the hardest part of rattle-canning a whole car would be? Taping off all the different windows and lights and whatnot?
What would you guys say the hardest part of rattle-canning a whole car would be? Taping off all the different windows and lights and whatnot?
having the effort to actually do it
How many cans do you think it would take to do your average small car? I understand that being spray-paint, it's probably going to look fairly ugly, but at least it would then all be one color and not have chunks the size of your palm of clearcoat peeling off every day and surface rust spots etc.

If you want it to be shiny go over it with clear coat, but that is optional. I forget how many cans we used tho, but it shouldn't cost more than $100 for all the paint if you want to do it really good. We spent $25 and it looked alright from afar and when you got close it looked kinda shitty in spots because the primer that was on the car was shit.
What would you guys say the hardest part of rattle-canning a whole car would be? Taping off all the different windows and lights and whatnot?
Getting a perfectly even coat. Spray-painted cars are reputed for looking terrible because spray-paint cans are so bad at applying even coats. That's why they use drafting booths and electro-static paint to paint cars, it gives an even coat. If you do it will and take the time, it can look nice but the problem is getting it to look nice. Masking off isn't difficult, but it is the most time-consuming part (Well, labour-wise).
[t]http://atomic.uirpg.com/files/IMG_20111014_123719.jpg[/t] towhook get same color hood get black engine bay get but you have already seen that Sunday -- Pick up DSM 1g sidemount (Jap, weren't you supposed to buy me an intercooler? You owe me $20 C:), see about ordering new outer tie rod ends (mine are shit), clean the shit out of my rims. When I get around to it, going to see about going with a darker satin on the entire car instead of blah flat black. It's just my DD so I don't give a rat's ass what it looks like as long as the body is intact C: Also, ordered some blackout corners but they were for a sedan. Gave them to a guy I know with a sedan. Well, I gave them to his girlfriend because he wasn't there at the time. I saw him driving later and she waved at me but I don't think he saw me. :C I hope he puts them on, will look very nice on the dark maroon/burgundy that the car is.

"Buy it for me" is always the response i give to comments like that, because i can't afford it. I assume he's the same way, that or like he said it's his DD so he doesn't really care..

If he has the money to even think about that, he's got enough money to take that thing to Maaco and get some paint for it.
I dunno, but I'd want my daily driver to look the best considering that's what most people see.
He was seriously considering buying another car. If he has the money to even think about that, he's got enough money to take that thing to Maaco and get some paint for it.
Well typically the cars he buys are less than $400, just beat em up restoration projects or whatever, you could probably get a paintjob for that but it wouldn't be much better than doing it yourself really. Granted it would still look better than that, so i see where you're coming from
Man all these people made of money that can afford fucking paint You guys try running a business on pennies and paint your car out of the same paycheck :| [editline]15th October 2011[/editline]
He was seriously considering buying another car. Because I didn't have the money.

Because I had some money come in, and then it fucking disappeared because that's what happens with a business, unexpected expenses come up all the time. Especially with my dad nosing around and fucking things up in my business like he still owns the place. I still have a $600 parts bill to pay 19 days ago that should have been paid the day of. Ugh. =___= I wouldn't expect anyone who hasn't owned a shop of their own to understand, this shit is hard, especially when your father plops you in the middle of it and owes money to 20 different places under the name of your business. Shit is hard for me right now.
clutch is slipping pretty bad in 5th, usually when its under 70f dunno if dying or added power from cold air
it's dying. you will never add enough power with a cold air to make a stocker slip. I went from 250lb-ft to 420+15% lb-ft before the stocker started to slip. Trust me the cold air has nothing to do
