I put the correct rotor's for my car on the rear.
And I had a spare set of rear pad's so I thought I would just throw those on and call it a day.
1st off the Rear Passenger Side.
I took the wheel off and the caliper, Took the rotor off. Put the new pad's on and started to put the caliper on. Well the caliper would not fit around the bigger pad's, So I took me a F clamp and retracted the caliper. Still would not fit around the new pad's. So I got me a rubber mallet and beat the crap out of it. It finally went on but I could not turn the rotor, But I did not care and I tossed the tire on.
Now I attempted the Rear Driver Side.
Got the caliper off and put the new rotor and pad's on, Would not fit. Did the same thing got out my F clamp and retracted it. Still did not fit but I wasn't even close, possibly 1mm of space I needed but did not have. So I bled the line, and got out my F clamp and it still did not retract.
So after working on the passenger side for 4hr's and thin playing with the driver side for 3+ hr's I got mad and put the old pad's on top the new rotor's and every thing went on perfectly.
I went for a test drive...
5miles down the road I smelled something burning.
Got to the house round trip 6 miles. Went to see what was smelling bad and My passenger side rear rotor was burning ass [b]RED[/b]. Oops. I waited for it too cool down tossed the old pad's on there and called it a day.
Now I have a rainbow colored rear passenger rotor :v:
Yeeeeeees I've got a working car again :D
and for only 70,- which is like $12 we switched out the brushes in the starter which for some reason was a Mitsubishi starter and now it works better than ever :>
so instead of using about $1000 on a new starter I got it working fine for $12
also adjusted the idle since it was running at 500
got a old chevy straight-six for $50 needs work but oh man is it cool its a 250-S will post pictures as soon as i get money for a camera looks like piss but oh man i cant wait to get it fixed maybe ill build a buggy frame for it or something (or it'll just sit in the garage with the other engines)
Figured it would be more relevant here.
[QUOTE=justin1992;33373682]The only thing i would be worried about is my engine shitting out on me. I dream of the day i can take it to the local track though. mmm..Someday. I'll put it on my bucket list or whatever.
[editline]21st November 2011[/editline]
So I've been searching this forum for 20 minutes and i can't find the post to quote, so hopefully some of you remember. Anyways, i came in here a month or two ago and posted about how i was driving down the road and heard an extremely loud banging, and clanking as if something fell off my car and bounced around before shooting out the back, i pulled into a carls Jr parking lot to take a look and i didn't see anything missing.
So here i am, again a month or two later, and my steering has been acting wierd. Like a part was missing. Under any sort of medium-heavy braking the steering would jerk really hard in one direction, and then jerk back the other way during acceleration. Decided to take a look today, and this is what i found:
Drivers side:

Passenger:

Sorry if the pictures are obscenely large, but basically...Well i think the pictures tell the whole story. So i threw a new bolt in there (With a fucking lock washer, something these japs apparently don't know how to use) and drove it around for 30 minutes, no fucking problems at ALL. I guess this sort of goes in the DIY thread but...No biggy. So yeah. I guess i should probably check the other ones but...I'm planning on getting the rear camber fixed and getting it all aligned in the next couple weeks so it should be fine. None of them looked like were backing out anyways so.
[editline]fff[/editline]
That's the lower control arm you're looking at, btw.[/QUOTE]
Those are some good looking ball joints and sway bar bushings.
I'm sitting here waiting on a call to go pick up my new civic. Apparently, it runs and drives. I thought I'd be towing it home.
I'm guessing sarcasm?
Can't afford any new parts right now unfortunately, the bolt i put in there was out of a spare parts bin from my K10 so...Any little amount of spare change that comes in goes to my college fund in January.
If it is sarcasm, I don't have any problems with loose steering and such that the bushings would cause, so they must not be as bad as you think, not yet anyways
[editline]21st November 2011[/editline]
You gotta figure, i had only one corner of the car jacked up, maybe it twisted everything, made it look worse than it actually is...They'll all be checked out when we go to get it aligned...Eventually.
Well in that case...Nevermind i guess
Like I've said before, i have no idea what this car has been through; What's new, what isn't, what maintenance has been done etc.
Well suspension, other than a bit of dust, looks well taken care of.
Well, and the missing bolt. Heh. But you got that fixed.
Turns out I'll be going to get my Civic tomorrow, resident AAer Japfeiffer will be taking me over there to grab it.
All 4.

I used to have mine on one as well, but i bought this and now i use it instead:

I like to put it in my back pocket, with the words facing out, so I'm always getting people asking me what the fuck a rotary engine is supposed to be. I tell em i drive an RX-7 and they're all like "Aaahhh, i see"
I wanted to get a rotary keychain, something...maybe like this, but they were a bit more expensive than what i wanted to spend so:

someone recommended that I should drop a rotary in my widdol ae86.
death.

:)
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Although that "short shifter" still looks remarkably long...Eh, maybe it's the way the picture was taken. Maybe comparing it to something? I've got a soda can next to me, might put it into perspective. Then again i don't know what you drive, that might be short for you..I thought the shifter in the rx-7 was a short throw when i test drove it, even stock it's really short. Still has a long travel/throw distance though. Thinking about making/buying a short throw myself. A bit too expensive for me though.
Well, when I drew that up it's kind of the opposite for how that particular short shifter works -- It's for a Civic. On ours, the bottom bit is longer for a shorter throw. It all depends how the linkage hooks up, really.
This pic explains it rather well:

Mine is a short throw. Very Very short. SO short, it only goes in a line.
derp, this was yesterday but I had no internet all last night:

fine ass pussymoBEEL
Visited Dakota County Tech College recently, their auto repair/detail classes have a GM specific class, and a garage full of 2009-newer model year GM cars for that class alone, including a corvette. Though sadly none of them are allowed to be driven.
Herp derp I need some bolts for my bumper

hopefully I can pass smog now faeiofn fuck
I think you got some cranberry sauce on the end of that wire.
that's how it was when I pulled it, so my poor little 4ac was probably misfiring, thus resulting in my hydrocarbon failure during smog.
It's funny, I just pulled and rebuild the plug wires on my new Civic today, and they looked the same but they were stuck in the head. After getting them out I used some new D15 plug wires with the old D16 rubber/plastic hardware to make essentially a new set. Worked like a charm.
I then checked my mechanical timing because when I drove it to my house it felt super sluggish... Turns out the cam was advanced 2 teeth (10 degrees). And then when I got to turning it over after redoing the timing, it was mysteriously out of gas. Hmm.
My timing and alternator were advanced, had to set them both back when I got a new belt so I can pass smog.
Man this 4ac sucks dicks.
[editline]25th November 2011[/editline]
why isn't my avatar changing I think ryan dunn is mad at me
Alternator was advanced you say?
I... Don't think you quite understand how an alternator works!
Also, 4AGE head on that bitch.
Apparently it was rotated or something, that's what the mechanic told me, plz help i d k how 2 car
