The previous owner of my 'rolla had used masking tape at one point, around the inside and outside edges of the sunroof. Degreaser + nylon brush = 2 hours of scrubbing old ass residue off. Feels good though, and that nylon brush works wonders on all of the other shit on my car.
GooGone works so much better, it gets any adhesive off of anything else. I almost feel like a wizard using the stuff because I only had the "tape on, tape off" trick available to me before. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline] Page king?
Dude, this degreaser stuff is a miracle worker though.
http://www.blackmagicshine.com/wheel-cleaner.php
Oh, black magic is some good stuff. But it's for tires right? It's not gonna hurt anything else?
Doesn't work too well as lube
Doesn't work to well as lube
the chafing.. [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
Oh, black magic is some good stuff. But it's for tires right? It's not gonna hurt anything else?
I used to get the buildup off of my wheels, and it has a "natural formula" that wont eat away anything else so
Bolted a sedan hood on the CRX today Some fitment issues and it's too long but I'm alright with it for now, at least it's not hammered shit like my other hood. Tackling my boost leak and maybe intercooler fitment tomorrow after I rebuild the top end on a '02 Geo Tracker for a customer.
http://www.blackmagicshine.com/wheel-cleaner.php
Be sure to apply it to the ENTIRE tire. And turn traction control off. And drive while its raining.
Spray onto cool, dry wheels. Allow to set for 1-2 minutes. Hose off with cool water. Wipe away remaining brake dust and grime. Heavy deposits may require agitation with a brush and/or second application.

Are we reading the same thing?
He just wants to kill you, that's all
oh oh
well today i started my 81 Toyota 4x4 pickup like i do every day. hop in shove gas pedal to floor to set my chock on my 32/36 weber carb. it started like normal, and went to high idle after a few seconds. i got out and plundered around for about a minute. got in and went to tap gas to kick it off high idle and nothing the pedal was to the floor. popped the hood and got out to see my throttle cable sittign under my carb it had slipped through the retaining screw on the plate of the carb. glad it wasnt a broken cable. after 15 minutes ( oh yea i manually blipped the throttle and then shut the truck off) a 9mm deep well socket, a allen wrench and a flat head screw driver disaster avoided. oh
Used a 3M headlight resto kit on my brothers grand am. Wish we had taken before and after pics because it turned out AMAZING!
I need a car to work on. My dad gave me my old .22LR rifle about a week ago. I haven't had a chance to shoot it, but I've already cleared a bench in the messy ass garage, bought a cleaning kit, took it apart, lubed it, refinished it, smoothed the action, and free-floated the barrel. Someone send me an old Alfa Romeo.
Does anyone have any experience replacing an entire exhaust system from headers to tail pipe?
Put a new slave cylinder on my hatch. Drove without a clutch for a week. Shit was terrible.
Used a 3M headlight resto kit on my brothers grand am. Wish we had taken before and after pics because it turned out AMAZING!
So the kit's actually worth the 20 or so bucks?
I would spend the extra 10 bucks for the next kit up which includes the painters tape, put a few layers extra on and has polish as well. Just make sure you dont push too hard and have a good grip on the drill. A big tip my friend gave me was use all the pads (3 of the 500 grain, 2 of the 800 grain, and the polish one per lens) and KEEP THE LENSE WET. If you can have a friend run a hose over it while you do it.
Some nice old toothpaste works, too. Can get a little bit messy but my tooth-pasted head and tail lights look just as good as any $20-30 resto kit does. [editline]4th December 2011[/editline] Look at me and my poor ol self :P But seriously, if you're short on change and just need to de-fog them it works wonders. Not a jip by any means.
any kind of mildly abrasive substance works really
Changed pads and rotors all round. feels good to have brakes that work again. realised after taking off the first wheel i needed an adaptor for a tool, so i had to drive dads car down to the shops. god that thing is weird to drive. brakes dont work, steering has no feeling, autobox is sillier then mine. its a 2007 hyundai santa fe, and with 90k kms, feels worse then my 20 year old BMW with 200k kms.
BMW vs Hyundai...is there really any need to argue the quality difference.
So the kit's actually worth the 20 or so bucks?
Yeah, I used a 16$ RainX Cleankit and it turned my Grand Prix's headlights from yellow to smooth as hell brand spanking new looking
My 3 year old almost empty $1 tube of toothpaste had the same effect on mine, went from a muggy dull yellow to a crystal clear smooth color. Just saying, those kits are kinda a waste of money if you ask me.
so what you guys are saying is that I need to rub toothpaste on my lights
for a long time. It isnt just a rub on wipe off thing.
so what you guys are saying is that I need to rub toothpaste on my lights
You don't need to. I'm just saying you don't need to fork out 20 bucks for the same effect a dollar tube of toothpaste will get you. If you don't want to put forth the effort to rub it into the headlights for 10 minutes each then by all means, use the RainX stuff, might be a bit easier i guess.
so instead of playing video games when I get bored, i'm starting to either brush my teeth or wash my car. this is good. and I need a new carb, time to get a weber.
Wired up my fog lights, found out the bulbs were bad. :suicide:
