Apparently thermalarc is butthurt at me about something, don't know how witnessing an accident is dumb but whatever. I was actually kinda awe-struck, i just sat there like...Seriously? What the hell was he thinking? He chocked his wheels immediately after he pulled forward so my boss thought maybe his brakes failed but i myself think it was just another typical New Mexico driver, backing up without looking or something. Pretty stupid but what can you do. I was too far away to make out any words but i could hear the owner yelling like crazy.
-moved to general discussion, i always forget what thread i am in-
I like how a rating mean erryone is butthurt hurr durr
don't know if anyone remembers the pictures I posted WAY back of my EF (before I painted it) next to this 280ZX my friend had I bought that 280ZX today. L28E/auto, he wants to keep his wheels for a trailer. Best $150 I ever spent.
Manual swap in your plans at all?
Well I've no paperwork on the car so the motor/trans is a donor for a swap in something else. If I can get the paperwork, then I'll probably clean it up and sell this shit. Unless I end up liking it. Or putting something else in it. I don't know.
The 280z was the least favorable of the series... mostly due to their weight and suspension. They're still really cool cars though, and for $150? Fuck, can't complain.
You mean 280ZX? The 280Z is still S30 chassis. And yeah, the 280ZX was widely regarded as the worst of the Z cars. If I could get a title on it I'd probably still yank the L28E out of it. I have a '73 250 4 bolt main and a 3 speed Saginaw I'd love to drop in it.
Yeah, the zx. Is the l28 EFI or is it carb'd?
L28E -- EFI. MPFI to be exact. I took it home tonight, brought a battery and some gas with me and it fired right up like it always has, drove it to my house which was 2 miles down the road. To be honest I REALLY liked driving it, and if I can get the paperwork figured out on it I'd probably keep it. Got a vacuum leak right now because the pipe for the EGR from the exhaust manifold to the intake plenum is rotted out, so I'm going to take a couple of caps and just block off the EGR since we don't have emissions testing here. My dad told me if I don't keep it we're stuffing the L28E in my '64 Chevelle El Camino. Something I thought my dad would never be on board with. Haha.
What a fuck, whenever i put my right indicator on it was flashing stupidly fast, i had a look outside and the front right signal wasn't lighting up. So i reserved a new bulb and opened the bonnet to see where i would fit it, looked fairly easy but it was jammed in tight and i couldn't loosen it. I also looked at the fuses but that didn't help as they just had numbers on them and needed the owners manual i guess. Anyway i closed the bonnet and set off to get my bulb. About to turn right and... it fucking works again. Glad it decided to work again BEFORE i paid for the bulb.
They flash fast to let you know its about to burn out/is out afaik [editline]28th January 2012[/editline] my cars left signal was out i flipped it over and it worked again :v
As every one know's The sun hates almost everything in a car. Well today I was tired of looking at dull ass wood grain shit.Took off all the wood grain (Except a piece around the arm rest I did not want to pull the whole dash apart), varnished 1 piece to see what it looked like. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/Img%20Dump/IMG_20120128_182546.jpg[/t] That's just 1 coat. Now to do it all. Tomorrow.
Got myself two 13b engines (You can see them in the General Discussion) and am thinking of tearing into one of them tomorrow. Hopefully it's just an oil control ring like the guy said and not a blown fucking apex...we'll see.
Pulled the starter off my truck. Took longer than it should have because it turns out after I let my brother, my dad, and my grandpa borrow my tools, I'm missing 5 sockets, an extension for a rachet, and 4 crescent wrenches. The size I needed to pull the wires off the starter were among the missing. It didn't help it gets dark so quick too. Gonna put the new starter in tomorrow, change the gasket between my TB and my Air cleaner tomorrow, maybe put in new Brake pads(might not, dunno how bad my rotors are) and put some silicone gasket around my leaky back slider window.
Just finished tearing it apart: [t]http://i42.tinypic.com/esnozk.jpg[/t] [t]http://i44.tinypic.com/jijjf4.jpg[/t] [t]http://i41.tinypic.com/2gvpoaf.jpg[/t] [t]http://i43.tinypic.com/2rc390z.jpg[/t] Dad is taking the parts to work tomorrow to clean them up and then we can see what kind of damages we're dealing with, if any.
Fixed all my electrical problems on my volvo, new wires and other shit that took a huge amount of time to replace and put in. My back hurts like fuck but it was all worth it!
I spent 7 hours taking my tint off my back window.. It left a ton of glue residue that took forever to clean up.
I replaced the Transmission fluid and the rear transmission seal today. I am quite glad to have a dad that knows lots about trucks.
Just finishing my wire tuck on my CRX, still got some stuff to do to it to finish it though. I bought one of these From the car wash the other day and rubbed it all over the inside of my car, and it looks super nice. I made the mistake of wiping it on my steering wheel and gear selector though, so they were a bit greasy for a day. It wasn't too much of a mistake though, because it still looks good from it, but isn't greasy anymore.
You will have to keep putting that on your dash and anything else or it is pretty much guaranteed to crack. Just so you know.
