Getting ready to go scope out a '97 Saturn SL2 tomorrow that's up for sale and asking $750. The clutch needs replaced, which basically makes it a $1,000 car. At 128k I dunno if it's working screwing with, but it definitely fits my budget and desire for a 25 mpg in-town commuter.
Got my sunroof closed after a day on my CRX, covered 8 holes in sunroof with metal duct tape so it stops leaking as bad.
weirdly spotted, what give? edit: is that a mega crack going down the middle?
That's from the clutch wearing on it, here's the abused stock pressure plate and flywheel from my car. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5601782/IMG_20111113_181529.jpg[/img_thumb]
yes I know its from the clutch wearing on it, but normally it take a shitload of slip and heat to leave those kind of spot. I went at the drag strip 2 days in a row with almost no grabbing in my clutch and it slipped all the way to its pressureplate heaven, it didn't even look remotly close to those
I actually had touched it with my oily hands! Haha. It's not spotted at all. An attempt to wipe the grease off with a rag just made it worse! I'll clean it up with some WD-40 before it goes on. Paint was wet at the time.
I think i need an upgrade next time i get a new clutch...Which i assume would be sometime soon to be honest. I can't get any fucking power down without lolmassiveclutchslippage unless I'm at a dead stop and just pop the clutch, then it grabs fine. It spins the tires across the intersection, but at least it grabs. Anything out of first is just massive clutch slip, i have to back off the throttle, let everything catch up and grab, THEN go. Quite annoying, i wish it'd just spin tires in second, it'd still be picking up more speed than just slipping everywhere... On a side note it was raining on the way to work thismorning so i had some fun madtytedrifting around almost every corner. Everyone was watching me like "The fuck is this idiot thinking!?" Was pretty fun though. I'm really starting to get the feel for the car the more i do it, i can really correct for oversteer easily without even thinking about it, and in the end, not over correct, but pull out of it perfect. I did it the other day when it was dry and sunny and i really surprised myself, this is all new to me.
Debating $40 for Exedy Daikin OEM disk or $30 more for a cheap 6 puck... I'm thinking I'll like the 6 puck more but not sure if it's worth the extra $30. Then again complaining about a clutch that is under $100 is kind of silly -- last clutch I bought was an Autozone one for $110. THey really fuck you on pricing.

Still have to clean the oil pan up before it goes back on, then get my head gasket and torque that thing down. Also still working on stripping paint from valve cover, crank pulley (as you can see) and then just generally cleaning the intake up because it's in terrible shape. It's been mostly time tearing things apart, cleaning them, and putting them together. Also, fuck I need an engine stand. [editline]10th February 2012[/editline] Engine building music: Just happened to play on radio when I was out there.
Ditto on needing an engine stand, I have all this cool mopar stuff and I can't build it because I don't have a free engine stand, dad is using the only one. We had another a while back but my dads cousin took it for god knows why and we haven't bothered to grab it since then. Can't tell if you painted your block in that picture or just hosed it off.
It's painted, obviously. They didn't come black, and no way I'd put an engine that was as nasty as it was in my car. Looks pretty snazzy, I really want to rebuild and repaint my trucks engine because it looks like a big brown turd; the only shiny thing on it are the spark plugs. I don't think I have shown a picture of the power plant in my truck yet (it's wicked clean), now I have something to do tomorrow. If I were to read what I type online outloud it sounds really awkward, don't know how to put it but I think Im pretty blunt or down to the point.
[t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/DSC00303.JPG[/t] Might be doing this in a few days. Only reason I want to do it is because I'm going to be getting a new hood, and there is a crap ton of hail damage on the top. I kinda like it any one else?
Id say either black with red BECAS RAYSCAR and stripes or reverse colors fucking spray paint it for the love of god
Went buy the guy's house who owned my CRX before so I can get the paperwork sorted out. Talked to his mom. Expecting a text from him tonight/tomorrow
Had to re-read that a time or two. Thought you were out buying up property like some kind of Honda Mogul.
I managed to decipher the french instructions for removing the bottom of the Dash and got the wire run from the cigarette lighter socket. While I was in that area I noticed the ash tray had a light that comes on when the headlights are turned on. I decided to exploit this and run a second wire from it to the illumination control for the radio. My radio's screen now dims when the headlights are on, neat :D Shame I still can't get the wheel controls to work, I have emailed autoleads to see if they can help. I think I have a faulty interface box since all the connections are correct and the voltages and resistances all check out.
You could have asked for help with the translation and stuff, we're a pretty bunch here of native french speakers.
Would the Dialect between French Canadian and regular French be too different?
Would the Dialect between French Canadian and regular French be too different?
A Frenchman may have a hard time understanding a french canadian, but a french canadian will most surely understand a frenchman
True, coming from Québec, I don't really have difficulties understanding french from other places. But on the other hands, french people from other places have difficulties understanding us :v:
Hooray my check engine light went on! Oh wait, booooooo. . .
Might be nothing much. Mine gets on, I get rid of it, comes back a good bunch later. Just a faulty o2 sensor, bad voltage or something, P0137 I think. But then again, not worth the trouble, yet. Go get your checked, see what it is, fix if it's bad.
Mine's been on since I bought it. Last I checked the codes it was a Coolant Temperature Sensor or something...not looking forward to tearing into the coolant system.
new window for the audi came today, it was surprisingly easy to put in. apparently on audis the inner and outer doors split in half lengthwise and allow me to kinda position the window and sandwich it between the two pieces. cleaned up the rest of the broken glass and the whole thing took about a half hour. got new floaters for the rear brakes (old ones were bent) and put those in. all that's left is interior and paint.
I decided, at 7 at night, to tear into the motor. Finally got the flywheel bolt off using a jumbo home-made socket that you can see at the end of the video, but couldn't get the flywheel itself off. So i tore into the front, after about 20 minutes FINALLY got the water pump assembly off (One rusted ass bolt was holding the fucker on TIGHT) and then after that was all downhill. Got the oil pump, counterweight, crank sensor and all that jazz off. At this point the flywheel is all that's left, after that it's even MORE downhill, i can lay it back on the 5 gallon bucket and just layer it off in about 5 minutes. Anyways: [t]http://i43.tinypic.com/xgcvtv.jpg[/t] May still be uploading/processing.
First time I Sea Foamed anything. 100% of the can went into the vaccume line. Ooops Went infront of Wal-Mart and let her rip. Ive never seen a vehicle smoke soooooo badly. Co-Workers laughing there ass off. After that I went onto the Interstate for some late night Fun. ~120 >Passes my exit > What ever ill get the next one > Exit's and turn's around > Goes flying down the on ramp. > Look's down onramp and the fucker is curved. I aimed for the middle Only thing that happened was I cut the grass. found a shim snapped it in half Chewed the end off of it Used it to patch the space between my rear slider glass panels on my truck, no more snow in there now :)
Went to pull a part, '91 Civic STD there (My Civic is a STD trim too) Got a good tail light that I need to change one piece on, and a passenger mirror blockoff (I have one on my car but never hurts to have an extra, they're hard to come by), and a rear view mirror for the CRX. Then Jap is shifting the car around and says "This is weird, it almost feels like a short shifter." It was a fucking short shifter. $44 for the lot. Decent haul. Was hoping to get me some fenders but they were beat. :(
Your car is an STD? You may want to get that checked out.
