Painted some old black wrinkle 273 commando valve covers from the cuda out back for my truck. Lets see, what did I do to my car today. Blew the transmission and torque converter. Took to shop 1,800 to fix it. Getting it fixed then selling it. FUCK FORD its an explorer with only 124k miles and meticulously followed service schedule. Time to get an impreza, corolla, or camry. And manual too this truck will be last automatic I EVER get.

The only non-wagon I found was a Legacy SS but it was riced out and automatic. D: Then again, we have a shitty selection of cars here. Smaller than Vancouver and very touristy, so not a lot of cars for sale here.

I ebay'd some LCAs so I can get my sway bar back on. Still gotta fab up some sway bar links iirc, I thought I had some laying around but I don't think I do now. They're pretty nice quality for ebay junk. If they had some good bushings they'd be a quality piece. Still totally worth the $55 I dished out, though. Might sink some money into Energy bushings later on and have some decent LCAs.
When it comes to ebay parts, I've had minimal issues with suspension. I've run Godspeed coilovers with no complains, they got a little rusty after a few months but I just cleaned 'em up and gave them a coat of clear and that fixed it. Ebay strut braces are just as good as more expensive brands, and I just tack weld them so they don't flex on their mating points. I never understood why they aren't solid to begin with:
Replaced fuel filter yesterday with the help of my grandpa. Yet my car STILL runs like shit

I haven't had to do anything to it, but it was on the car when I bought it so I haven't fucked with it. I don't think I've ever had a problem with any ebay part I've ordered. I've run two ebay turbos and they did fine too. Not saying it's all good stuff, there are shit pieces out there, but generally common sense will help you avoid them.
i have an ebay oil feed line but i'm afraid to use it
I've run a couple of them, you just have to be careful about tightening them down, I ended up twisting one and I was afraid it'd leak after that so I used my other one. Had no problems out of it. Don't use the returns though. The one I had leaked from the hose itself, like it was full of pinholes. It was free, but still. I ended up using two barbs and some good high pressure hose with a couple of clamps for return.
What year was it and did it see any heavy towing or off-roading?
It was a 2002 Sport Trac, never towed anything, I had actually just put a tow ball on it a week before so I could get a trailer for my bike. Only time I ever offroaded was a gravel road trail thing; wasn't even really offroading.
Got the ebay LCAs in. They're alright. Waiting on some drop springs now.

Well, I walked outside and stared at the Cobra. Said fuck-it, its too cold and walked inside. Alot done today ay?
bought 3 copies of the 1995 cobra r from the february DLC pack in forza 4 and fucked around for hours the joy i felt the joy
At least your car is in games, shortbox d150 is nonexistent in games, not even as a shitty background vehicle. Would love to play forza or GT5 with my truck, would spend hoooours.

Guess my thoughts aren't far off. We just bought a '97 with 200K on it and it seems to be running like a top, automatic and all. If it does throw a gearbox we're putting a manual in it.

The CRX might be in a few games (It's in Forza 4 and GT5 in SiR trim, which is B-series), but I can't think of any games with my EF in it. If they have Civic hatchbacks they are usually the fifth and sixth generation.
I must get Forza 4 back from my cousin. He's had it for months. :saddowns:
I finished design of the circuit for my Picasso-Wheel-to-Sony-Head-Unit control box. It works... Perfectly :D Now to just rebuild it on some veroboard as a permanent circuit... When my new reel of solder arrives. For those who care, I was using transistors to switch varying resistances to control the Sony head unit, but I am now switching arduino pins to input mode for high impedance and setting them to Output and LOW to ground them, presenting a resistance to the head unit. Eliminated 12 components by doing that. ... Hey it's car related, electrical but still car related.
No. They call them Exploders because of the firestorm tire fiasco.
Everyone I know calls them Exploders for reasons that have nothing to do with tires... [editline]25th February 2012[/editline] I want to work on my truck, thinking about getting some new spark plugs, etc. but I'm broke until payday. :(
Sanded my crossbraces, cleaned them, got rid of rust on my dog bones, painted them back, painted my crossbraces, painted my intake elbow. Wondered what do to today, so I ended up doing this to occupy myself.
No. They call them Exploders because of the firestorm tire fiasco.
That would be the "Firestone tire fiasco". And No, they call them exploders because a rather large portion of Ford's explorer had a tendency to explode their parts, such as engines, fan clutches, axles and so on.

We used to own one and i can say from experience, they are called exploders because shit is ALWAYS BREAKING. They're/were pretty shit to be honest, we didn't own it for very long before trading it in.
I'd love one of the new ones though. Assuming I had a family.
My mom has a 2004 explorer, V6, it gets shit has mileage, about 14-16. It has 160 thou km on it right now, the heated seat and sound dial has gone but other than that it serves it's purpose as a a-b vehicle. Was an EX rental vehicle so once it his 200 thou it should start exploding, then we get a diesel jeep or something cool. Also, got my valve covers on today, I love how they look. Before [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/9d00f828.jpg[/thumb] And after [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/fd698153.jpg[/thumb] After I got them on I messed up the spark plug wires somehow and me and my dad had to spend half an hour figuring it out, just so happened that it was snowing and I was doing to swap outside so we were forced to do it before I parked it back inside. [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] Going to put some MSD wires on tomorrow for shits and giggles, they are for the coronet so it would be temporary.
Need some shorty headers! :D
Well, it seems like the PS and Alternator belts in my car are loose. Alas, fixing the problems of a new used car. Heh. I'm gonna tighten them up tommorow and see if that fixes the squealing (Loud squeal for up to several seconds on a cold start.)
And I now have my wheel controls back, yay. OK, it's not the neatest board in history... Still a small software bug that causes the volume down button to bug sometimes but I can sort that later with a one-lien code change. At least my car has a gigantic void behind the radio to drop this crapload of cabling into. And although it is fused inline I may also add a further 100ma fuse just to be safe. (This thing only draws like 20-30ma)
