So in the end I swapped the TUX-020 tuners between my old and new Sony decks and just before lunch finished installing the new unit.
I am now totally reassured that the older Xplode units are 100% interchangeable both externally and internally. I never expected to be transplanting soldered components and expecting that to work.

Already took it for a test drive. It always impresses me how even on the roughest of roads the minidisc will not skip a beat.
$730 for any kind of manifold job is ridiculous.
If I was to guess, it was exhaust manifolds on a V6, and the price comes from the labor involved in getting to the back bank.
I wouldn't charge that much, I know what he drives. Ridiculous price for the service he's getting.
I hate how expensive other shops are, and then people want to complain about my prices....
Sigh.
I agree it's a bit much, but it's not hard to see where the price came from.
My shop doesn't go cheap ass shit, they out part all other shops in the county

Some guy told my dad his price was too high for flooring
I've never seen my dad so close to knocking someone out.
Your dads prices are too high for flooring.
Tell him I said that.
Do it.
Not always. I'm running a side dump like that on my F150, but it only gets noisy if there's a lot of load or RPMs at play. At idle it's quiet enough that you can whisper over it.
The catalytic converter muffles quite a bit of racket. A mild enough engine can get away with just a cat and still slip under noise laws.
It may not make it loud as fuck, but shortening the exhaust at all is going to generate at least a bit more noise than having it it full length...Regardless of muffler/cat setup.

Where'd I say it wouldn't?

The way you worded it suggested you thought it wouldn't make a difference at all.

I didn't specifically say it didn't get any louder than it was before I did the side dump, therefore I didn't mean it didn't get any louder. I simply said it was still quiet enough to skirt noise laws, and that at idle it was quiet enough to easily whisper over. I meant exactly what I typed.
Going down the freeway it's absolutely impossible to have a phone call, you can't hear them and they can't hear you over it.
So we're pretty much back to where we were the first time i posted; shortening the exhaust by any amount, even if you don't modify any of the core exhaust components such as the cats and mufflers, will make it AT LEAST a BIT louder, if not a LOT louder, depending on how short you go with it.
I love living in Oregon, outside of Portland here as long as you aren't a jackass with your exhaust, dragging it on the ground or shooting flames out of it the police and state don't give a single fuck. I unbolted my axleback on my car and it sounds better than pretty much any other 4 cylinder around here, the backfiring and popping it makes is pure music.

mine went a lot fucken louder. i think ill keep it aside from the drone it does sound nice at highway speeds and the decel noise is smexy
I hate the back firing and piping sounds on a v8, I want a nice, clean, uniformal sound. Rrrrrr snap crack pop, blech.
I also hate the lawnmower put put put sound louder trucks make at low rpms when driving by with a firery passion but when it opens up it sounds glorious.

Well done.
I'm liking the sony car audio gear, It feels solid and are priced well. It doesn't sound bad either.
well my side trim (99 grand am se) on drivers side front fell off and trying to decide if i wanna put it back on or just pull the rest of it off fill the bumper trim smooth and borrow my friends paint booth for a couple days. I'd just put it back on but the trim is ugly as shit it looks better without it

...My god. I wouldn't trust you idiots to work on a push mower without crushing yourselves, let alone a car.
Jacks and stacks of bricks are not suitable supports, and when a car falls on either of you I'm just going to laugh and say I told you so. Get some jackstands and put them to use, they're not expensive. A pair of high quality 2.5 ton jackstands is only fifty bucks. My broke ass can afford four of 'em, you guys have no excuse not to have at least two.
Why are you so hostile?

I understand why bradley didn't use jack stands. Not working under the car, no big deal.
But if you're under the car, for christ's sake use jack stands not a stack of bricks. Nobody should die because their car fell on them.
You're trying to flip the audi right hell strike?
Today i began sawing the exhaust off the jeep
nyeheheheheh
