So yeah, we played Lego Star Wars. She was using the controller. After a few failed tries to jump over a pit she threw the controller at me, angrily. Tried to tell her how to do it. She said it's too complicated for her and she would never be as good as me. Then she bursted into tears.
Later she said she'll give another try next time, but I already have a feeling that my dream of having a girlfriend I can play games with is shattered. Or maybe I've chosen a wrong game...

There is an episode of Extra Credits called "Sharing our Medium", give it a watch, it has some really good hints about doing just what you want to do.
i find the whole "i want a gf i can play games with :)" thing weird
also when i think about it there's so few splitscreen games these days. it's pretty much lego or fighting games and that's your lot, with a few exceptions
when I'm playing video games anyone around me becomes an utter anathema. I fear that repeatedly bringing the object of my affections into that human-loathing-radius would eventually have lingering effects

My girlfriend loves to play vidya. I let her beat me at every game and act pretty terrible at them, but before she catches on I win some and gloat my ass off. I usually talk like I'm good at whatever game and then let her win.
