If you are interested in being more than friends with this girl and don't ask, you might always regret it. Whenever I'm interested in somebody I definitely pursue it, but I definitely have to know that I can see something more in the relationship.
Otherwise its not worth the possible awkwardness which will only happen if its a serious or long time friend.
