Uhm, I'm not gagging for it and I don't think being single is 'haunting' me. I'm just saying it probably isn't a good idea to get into a long-term relationship when uni is coming up or else it'll certainly be a long-distance relationship. I just got out of one two months ago and I'm just relaxing at the moment.
Yeah it would be pretty cool to have a friends with benefits but I don't want it enough to be actively looking out to start it. If the opportunity presents itself, cool beans but I'm not upset if it doesn't. Same with a girlfriend although I'd probably make it clear I wouldn't want it to go past the start of uni.

So my girlfriend and I had our second anniversary today. Took her out to dinner at one of the fancier restaurants in town, drank wine, bought ice-cream, walks along the beach, the whole shebang. Had a lovely time, our waiters were very French and we had a conversation with them about moving to France since they moved to Australia. We ran into some old friends, and it was nice catching up, and then we went back home and had a really relaxed evening. One thing I realised, though, is that asking strangers on the internet, no matter how much detail you give them, will never really be that accurate. I remember before asking this girl out, at the spry age of 16, I was nervous so I asked the Love Advice community then. MaverickIB told me to forget it because she obviously wasn't interested.
So to all you hopefuls out there: people on the internet don't mean shit. Be flat and ask them out to a movie as more than friends. It's been two years going strong, and I don't regret going against the odds.

Maverick was a blunt bastard, he just bashed people so that they could realize their own mistakes. Which works occaisonally but not always. Every pschotherapy or psychic advice works on the basis of empathy.

when you ask someone you don't know for advice, they only know what you tell them and their advice is often going to reflect your own bias.
also, it never hurts to ask someone out if you're interested. honestly i don't see why people fret about it so much, usually people don't take offense if they find out you're interested in them. even if the person declines they'll often be flattered that you asked.

From my psychology classes, well it is not entirly that you have to show empathy and make the person feel all jolly with all kinds of gifts and (fake) devotion. Most person have to cope with their problems on their own, still they are being guided by psychologists/specialists which will help them.
Nearly all psychological treaments are based on empathy and helping out, not purly show what mistakes they made and such. A therapy has always the goal to help a person, not simply bashing him and stating all the things that he/she did wrong.

Or they decided that they can build their decisions up based upon what the internet tells them because they know the situation better than anyone else, rather than blindly follow exactly what they tell you.
