Haha, well German isn't very much of a romance language so to an outsider we don't sound all that romantic. Even our complimentary words can still be guttural or unappealing to hear. Like I did with the Rettungsschwimmer, just be direct and they will appreciate it. Lay on the compliments.
Also "super sexy" (w/ German Pronunciation) is incredibly entertaining to say.

German is not a very pretty sounding language, in the opinion of this uncivilized American swine.
I was an exchange student in Germany during high school, I spent a month living with an exchange family in Ludwigsburg. I like that country quite a bit. I fell in love and had my heart broken and then fell in love with somebody else, and then eventually settled for her friend instead. Romance.

If it's english then it's going to be pretty hard, but if you know spanish or german then it'll make it much easier

i speak some french (grew up in a french country) and know basic latin and italian. at this point it's fairly easy for me to grasp new languages, though admittedly i'm a little scared about learning to write/read a non-romance language.
i also actually lived in russia for a few years (the same years my bf was there, oddly enough) so at one point i did learn basic russian, i just don't remember most of it.
If you learned the basics then I'm sure you can learn it enough to be fluent in it
Learning to write is probably going to be much harder than learning to speak, though. I've known Russian all my life and I still have issues when writing in Russian :v:

I find the Swedish language to be a very crude one, whilst English have a lot of variations of words.
