It's not a habit since I was tought british english, not the american style. I just get confused since most of the people I surround myself with speak american.

Need to vent a bit I guess..
So, last Saturday my GF and I broke up. We were together for exactly 4 years and 2 months, and even survived college together (both graduated several weeks ago).
We always were very honest with eachother. She told me most of her feelings were gone, and still likes/loves me, but as a friend.
Didn't really specify a reason as to what triggered this whole situation, she just doesn't know, needs to sort out her feelings.
Guaranteed me there wasn't anybody else or something.
She promised me she would tell me as soon she would figure things out though. Things got pretty emotional Saturday (especially on my end),
but I didn't lose my temper. Kinda sucks it had to happen in the middle of the summer, when I've got so much spare time, since my job starts in September.
So much time to think..
Today I received a text message from her mom; "I just found out the bad news. It's a real shame.. Hopefully there'll be a next time.".
I realise the best thing to do would be to start getting over her. We were always pretty great together and we both hope to be buddies one day,
seeing as we could talk about literally everything and know of eachother that we were/are trustworthy.
Though I suspect most people will shoot down that idea; are there any chances for it to be possible?
Did i mention i proposed to my girlfriend when i was down in georgia? Because i did. And she said yes.

you've just got to give it time until neither of you feels (for lack of a better word) romantically for the other, else you'll likely be doing more harm than good by trying to hang out and do 'friend things'
