Particularly since most women don't orgasm at all during sex XD
uhh, no. that is a huge (incorrect) generalisation to just throw out there. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] not all women orgasm *every* time they have sex, but you can't say that "most women don't orgasm at all during sex", that's just incorrect
so i finally told my dad i want to try seeing a cognitive behavioral therapist for my anxiety because i become physically ill from stress (which is also the reason i dropped out of high school to begin with, because i got migraines when i was a teen). as SOON as i threw in the fact that a large part of it was social anxiety he basically told me "you don't need a doctor figure things out yourself!" i'm really tired of people who have never taken a psychology class acting like it's a bullshit field.

weird experience last night my ex's current boyfriend popped up on facebook, asking if i have her home number. i was polite of course - he's a really nice guy - but told him i didn't. he asked how long i'd be online for because he might need my help. at this point i guess i had to pry because it was getting weird. apparently she may have done "something stupid". she has a history, or at least she did when we were together, of making a massive deal of things and going for the attention and saying she'd do stuff or say stuff or whatever and never do it so, as bad as it may sound, i wasn't really worried anyways in the end she didn't do whatever she was going to do (surprise!) but then the weird part of the story was that the boyfriend started asking me what she was like when we were together and then bitched about her dramatics. i always gathered there's was no way to be with that girl and not think she was ridiculous, unless you were as mental as her or just totally whipped, but i didn't ever expect him to talk to me about it anyone else had strange meetings with ex's currents?
anyone else had strange meetings with ex's currents?
Nope, but nothing my ex does surprises me anymore. She is an attention whore, has a set of social disorders and has a penchant for abusive and no good boyfriends who treat her like nothing (except me , surprise surprise). All her FB posts I just shake my head at. Now she is going back to 'being bi' and becoming more lesbian because men are evil players. It was her own fault anyway, she just doesn't learn anything from the relationships and keeps up the cycle. I'm tempted to remove her just to save myself the stupidity of her posts, but then I realize that's immature and mean so I just scroll past. Not my problem anymore.
i used to be in the same boat. this is probably bad advice, but you know what helped me? cigarettes.
i've been trying a few different things to calm down when it hits, but it tends to affect me in ways i don't know how to control. for the first month or so i was in college, i was getting maybe 3 hours of sleep a night and felt dizzy and like i was going to throw up every single day. i've also tried coping with the social aspect of it with the same approaches that i used getting over another phobia i had, but everything just seems to amplify it instead of helping. it's become really apparent to me in my college classes; whenever i say anything at all i immediately feel incredibly embarrassed about it regardless of what i actually said, and i tend to have issues talking because i panic whenever i draw attention to myself.
why did you have to drop out? not nitpicking just curious. i get migraines sometimes and my mum had them really bad when she was a teen but i can't imagine them being bad enough to have to leave school for good. i would have thought there's a prescription or something you could take to get rid of them?
i got them pretty bad, the nausea in particular. it was next to impossible to function when i got them. i tried a few different kinds of medication but nothing seemed to help - i still have no idea why. i ended up missing a large part of my freshman year of high school because of how frequent they were, so in 10th grade i withdrew. when i was around 17-18 my migraines mostly stopped. i got a ged when i was 17 and i'm currently in community college.
whenever i say anything at all i immediately feel incredibly embarrassed about it regardless of what i actually said, and i tend to have issues talking because i panic whenever i draw attention to myself.
you certainly have very bad social anxiety. do you need your dad's permission to see a therapist?
you certainly have very bad social anxiety. do you need your dad's permission to see a therapist?
i emailed my mom asking if she could explain it to him since i think she's a bit more understanding about the whole situation. as long as she's okay with it (which i'm sure she is), i'll probably just look for a therapist on my own.
Why do you need your parents permission? Seriously, if it bothers you that much and you think the solution is therapy why not give it a go? Regardless of your parents thoughts on the subject.
in the real world people's parents get upset and people are socially conditioned to not want to upset their parents and get shouted at. also therapy costs money. people aren't skynet. they can't just turn off social conformity with a button
i used to be in the same boat. this is probably bad advice, but you know what helped me? cigarettes.
smoking cigarettes really helped you with your anxiety? I have real bad anxiety, but over the past 4 years I've learnt to just tell my brain to shut the fuck up and (mostly) deal with it. it's really bad because I'll be holding a normal conversation, making people laugh, but in my head I'll be feeling so fucking stressed and I'll feel like utter shit. I have to willfully stop my hands from shaking, and afterwards, when everyone is gone and it's just me, I just feel like crap and I have real bad shakes. I'll never personally take up smoking (mainly because I spent most of my childhood having to deal with my sisters terrible ass-breath in the morning [morning breath + smoking breath = god fucking damn please stop talking]) but I do smoke occasionally and it'd be interesting to know if it really does help with anxiety.
i'm still financially dependent on my parents. not only that but i generally have a good relationship with them and prefer not to do things they disapprove of. hopefully my dad will eventually realize that this impacts my performance in school. having unsolved social and health issues isn't going to help me get into grad school down the line. You're right, I'm currently talking to a psychiatrist and he's helping me out :) but I've been too worried about taking anything he's given me so I'm going again tomorrow and telling him about how I'm anxious about actually taking the meds.
what meds has he given you?
Ah, thanks for that. -snip- woops
He's given me Cipralex, I've asked so many times in the depression topic if anyone has had any experience with it, but no one has replied. Like Xanax and Cipralex, they both help panic attacks, depression and anxiety, but I'll ask the psychiatrist if there's something purely for anxiety. I just hope I don't end up zombified or whatever, cause that's what most anxiety meds are, right? They're usually sedatives or something.
i think you should ask in drug discussion, as there are a lot of people in there which have anxiety issues.

[editline]2nd August 2012[/editline] i hope i'm not derailing too much!

Will give it a try, thanks. [editline]2nd August 2012[/editline]
it's a stimulant but has sedative effects at higher doses. you'd be better off looking for medication.
of course. i don't smoke anymore. it's not worth the health risk
of course. i don't smoke anymore. it's not worth the health risk
i can understand why you would, though. a lot of people end up self medicating for those sorts of issues when they aren't able to receive treatment. props to you for being able to quit!
of course. i don't smoke anymore. it's not worth the health risk
your avatar picture, I can't not look at her eyebrows. Every time I see it I have to wait for the eyebrow movement, it's crazy man. I miss your old pyro avatar, at least that one wasn't so hypnotic.
