Bob Dylan is great, although I don't enjoy listening to him so much. I found this scottish guy from about the same era who sounds so much like the young Bob;

Felt like it was relevant, anyone heard him before? Got any info about him, like, was he influenced by Dylan?
For all guitarists (Troubadours), myself included, Dylan is somewhat of a god.
http://dylanchords.info/ is a great site with more or less all his songs included (in various forms).
Personally my favourite has got to be I want you or Señor (Tales of Yankee power).

Donovan is like the poor man's Bob Dylan, at least that's what Americans generally thought of him; a copycat (take what I say with a grain of salt, this is my personal assessment).
I like him though. There's this neat video of him playing to Dylan in the documentary Dont Look Back.

Great Musician!
Surprised there isn't more discussion on Dylan really. I think he's an incredible musician. Must admit, I don't really listen to much of his stuff past 1970, and my favourite album is probably The Times they are a-changin.
I find it hard to listen to lots of his recent stuff as his voice is so shot.

Your second statement answers your being surprised.
In my opinion.
His voice is different, but his expression is sometimes a lot more whole than ever before. After a few months of listening to his recent albums, I have completely absorbed the fact that his voice is a LOT different.
And I appreciate this. I don't think anybody in this thread has yet to do that :saddowns:

You're probably right man. I should really work my way through the rest of his discography, I have a feeling I'm probably missing out on a lot of good music.
I tend to lean more towards solo acoustic performances, which is probably why I enjoy his early work so much.
We have to remember that Dylan is now almost 70. And we can't be ignoring him in his last years because we loved his older stuff.
How do you think he would feel if you told him his music isn't great because his voice isn't "there".
Listening to "Things Have Changed". I would say that one song surpasses most of the songs he has done since the 70s.
His genius is still there, remember that.
Very true.
I don't doubt his genius is still there, it certainly is.
I listened to 'Things Have Changed' and thought it was really good, odd music video though..

I saw him live at Bumbershoot last month. It was the single greatest day of my young life and I will never wash these eyes again.

It was sort of placed into the movie that its used in, quite a weird way I thought. He won an oscar for it :v:

One of a kind.
Just got Witmark Demos in the mail, I love this stuff.
Must get that son of a gun. Heard some of it.
