they leaked their album with a picture zach hill's penis on it and got a shitload of attention and hype for what was otherwise a poorly-received record. how can you not see the amount of PR and money they gained from that stunt? like seriously, artists leaking (or streaming) their records is standard business practice nowadays. no hate; love death grips, just speakin facts

the only real issue i have with this band is that they are clearly marketing over music, or even more specifically that their fans seem more enthralled with the "idea" of death grips, the story of mc ride, videos of death grips and gifs and all that fucking bullshit (and MEMES) and the IDEA that death grips is in ANY way breaking any ground than in the content of the music itself. it's pitchfork music media 101, sell the people a story, not a song. I place far more blame into the fans that buy into this type of bullshit and thusly encourage it than i do the bands that partake in it. frankly, they don't have a choice.
