CHRIST this sounds horrible. I...don't think I can say anything more...
I've noticed Ebola threads tend to emulate the infection patterns of real Ebola; randomly pops up, infects a ton of people, then just mysteriously disappears to re-surface in a couple months.
There IS one good about Ebola, though. It's not very easy to catch. It only survives in bodily fluids. Vomit, blood, urine, etc..
I was in Grade 5 when I first found out about this. I will tell you; I almost shat my pants.
But what I quoted above are the keywords. This isn't something you will catch if you follow basic hygenic rules... and avoid going to public washrooms.
yeah dude I read The Hot Zone last year and now I'm fuckin scared.
That was a great book, are Marburg and Ebola the same thing?
That was a great book, are Marburg and Ebola the same thing?
No.
But wow, this thread got me thinking how much this would suck and sort of scared me. And I started to get a headache "behind my eyes".
I am scare aswell.
I think what he was trying to say was that there are few people currently infected with it.
By the way, Darth Vader is Luke's father and Soylent Green is people.
That's exactly what I meant. Yeah it still exists in humans, but few have it so there's no mass infections right now.
That was a great book, are Marburg and Ebola the same thing?
They're definitely not "the same", but they are both members of the Filoviridae family. So in taxonomic terms, they have about the same similarity as a house cat and an ocelot. It's strange to compare viruses with animals though.
Quite freaky indeed.
While were on the talk of viruses wasn't there one that could easily kill all the humans on earth if there was a epidemic. It could survive in space and was pretty much indestructible or something like that.
or maybe it was the Ebola virus and i just remember it wrong.
Andromeda Strain?

Okay, NOW that's horrible. This was probably what 'Cabin Fever' was based on. Does this even eat flesh too then?

It doesn't eat flesh, it just makes your skin slide off in large chunks.
You see, your Epidermis is connected to your Dermis, which is connected to Subcutaneous tissue, which is connected to muscle tissue, which is connected to bone, Ebola destroys the connections, although the only spectacular results are when it destroys the connections of the Epidermis to the dermis.
We're talking about a disease that makes your large intestine almost indistinguishable from your liver by the time they do an autopsy, with the only difference being location and possibly color.

[sarcasm]Thanks for the above image. [/sarcasm
I saw a program in my Bio class about Ebola. I nearly shit my pants when I saw the pictures.

They would show pictures of ebola victims in a school class? Are they even allowed to do that?

They show pictures of violent car crashes trying to scare kids to wear their seatbelts, I don't see why they couldn't do this.
They also show decapitations and other terrible blunt trauma in forensic science.

Actually that's a good point, although nothing's as bad as the crappy sex ed videos these days.

In my case it randomly started with 2 fugly kids in a heart shaped bed with zebra striped bedding, possibly from the 80's
Fuck me, pretty bad stuff. Anus Party.
Apparently it can only survive airborne for 40 seconds, but this was in Jeremy Clarkson's book mind you.
Gross bro
wait, I already did not want to get Ebola, now I do NOT want to get it?
wow...
Jesus, am I the only one who learned about this in 9th grade Biology? Oh wait that's right no other Facepunchers are in high school yet, my mistake.
Lol, someone who thinks they are smarter than most of facepunch. Isn't that uncommon.
BRAVO! Mmm It's just like any other virus/germ/disease did you know if you left the flu untreated you can die from that as well? ;O
Guys, there's no point in being scared. I stopped worrying about it a long time ago. Unless it mutates into something transmissible through the air (or you're really unlucky at an airport), there's virtually no chance you'll ever encounter this in your lifetime.
I sure ebola is rare, theres not much change of you catching it.

mediatag it. Oh my god.. Mediatag it.
The fact that we have an Ebola strain named after a town only a few miles from me is disconcerting.
Fuck you Reston
