Just that album. Is it not Progressive Deathcore?
okay
The album Blood Mountain by Mastodon is the only Deathcore thing I can stand. And it's really not very good.
Did you just call Mastodon deathcore? :milk:
I enjoy The Black Dahlia Murder sometimes.
Did you just call Mastodon deathcore? :milk:
just that album :colbert: I said that in the post. Wait no I didn't Oh well
because I said it's deathcore or because I said it's not very good or is there some other thing in there that I missed.
Mastodon is not deathcore. Blood Mountain is a good album. I was assuming there was probably something else wrong with that statement that I wasn't seeing.
I was just pretty sure I remembered seeing Blood Mountain labelled as Progressive Deathcore :v: But yeah, I know that Mastodon as a whole aren't deathcore.
I really can't even begin to see how Blood Mountain is Deathcore in any sense.
I enjoy The Black Dahlia Murder sometimes.
i dont see how this band is deathcore. they use blast beats and are always fast, dont overuse breakdowns, and they dont suck. also mastodon is in no way deathcore. it's not death metal, and it only has a little bit of hardcore, but not the shitty hardcore i mean the good kind. if anything theyre sludge metal, except the new album.

Personally I don't like them regardless of what genre they are.
Here is some more good shit. This thread should be about death metal and deathcore, since we all seem to like both genres equally.

And I don't judge them on their image of what genre they may be. I just don't find them interesting. [editline]09:22PM[/editline]
Here is some more good shit. So it's better off keeping them separate. I'm sure you have seen what happens when someone brings up deathcore in a death metal thread.
who told you mastodon was deathcore
how could you even THINK mastodon is deathcore?
The album Blood Mountain by Mastodon is the only Deathcore thing I can stand. And it's really not very good.
Blood Mountain isn't deathcore wtf
Isn't Blood Mountain widely considered sludge? That's what I've always seen Blood Mountain referred to as, at any rate. No idea if its correct, though; sludge is one of the few genres of metal I actually know very little about. :ohdear:
It's the vocals and blast beats and boring samey riffs that put me off deathcore, I prefer metalcore TBH.
It's the vocals and blast beats and boring samey riffs that put me off deathcore, I prefer metalcore TBH.
The bulk of metalcore is much like that too. It's just a matter of taste, metalcore has a lot of stale riffs.
Fuck, have any of you techdeath heads actually thought that some people listen to deathcore maybe because it isn't so damn technical? I'm not bashing techdeath in any way, but people on both sides of this argument need to stop generalizing.
Yeah man thats what melodic death metal is for [editline]08:14PM[/editline]
The album Blood Mountain by Mastodon is the only Deathcore thing I can stand.
The bulk of metalcore is much like that too. It's just a matter of taste, metalcore has a lot of stale riffs.
Well I dunno, maybe I've only listened to bad deathcore and good metalcore. I'll just say a lot more of my music library is metalcore.
Well I dunno, maybe I've only listened to bad deathcore and good metalcore. I'll just say a lot more of my music library is metalcore.
What metalcore bands do you like?
What metalcore bands do you like?
For Deathcore, about all i like is some Carnifex, All Shall Perish and a song or two by Winds of Plague, Benighted (but i think they're Deathgrind) Older In Flames and Soilwork are Melodeath, similar i guess Metalcore is August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Silent Descent, Bury Your Dead (they're terrible, but catchy), All That Remains was a favorite of mine before they were in guitar hero, now it's like Two Weeks and Six are the only songs they ever made, no love for Chiron, Not Alone or their older stuff
I've yet to hear metalcore that surpasses killswitch engage's first album in terms of quality
I've yet to hear metalcore that surpasses killswitch engage's first album in terms of quality
That's because Jesse Leach was one of the few metalcore vocalists who could hold a candle to real vocalists. Though, Phil Labonte, Randy from LoG, and the guy from Silent Citizen/Spineshank(Bad bands, but he's a good vocalist) are all fairly decent.
Too bad he blew out his vocal cords the first time they went on tour, i don't like KSE's new vocalist.
Howards shit. I hate him. His voice sounds like ass compared to Leach.
Here's a list of every good deathcore song and band:
.
I like The Black Dahlia Murder, Suicide Silence, Whitechapel, All Shall Perish, Job For A Cowboy (their first album was deathcore) and The Red Chord.
