how the fuck is it generic
you're supposed to be able to easily self-insert yourself in your characters shoes and white short haired men with stubbles are the definitive action-movie-game characters to achieve this goal since they're like a blank canvas
people like you remind me of people who download their favourite anime models in fallout or l4d2 because regular human characters dont represent their special snowflake interests, its autistic and embarrassing, stop it

also lol at the dislikes
people literally still jumping on the cod hate bandwagon even though this looks NOTHING like previous cod titles, and everything that does resemble previous cods has been reworked and made better resulting in a pretty solid gameplay introduction
but nope cod is not sophisticated enough for my well refined gaming taste *rates dislike* *unzips wallet to buy it anyway*

Well, considering that
blank canvas
You don't have a point, boyo. That's the definition of generic.

I honestly hope the space combat sections are kept to a minimum. As much as I know people like to bitch about CoD not drastically changing direction and killing off their audience, vehicle sections are my least favorite in ANY game and I'd rather stick to running around dudeshooting.

he's voiced by and face scanned/mocapped by Brian Bloom
aka Kane from Kane & Lynch
As bad looking as the air combat looks, I do appreciate that the plane looks like the YF-23, one of my favorite planes.
meh. while it looks okay, its still a cod campaign. its going to be extremely bland with no real life put into characters, very on the rails for 90% of it, and isnt going to be something to play more than once. infinity ward proved this with their past few games. not to mention the mp is going to be the exact same cod experience, theres never going to be vehicles or space combat with the fighters.
i fell asleep watching this. just give me the mw remaster and i'm done with cod.
I ctrl+f'd for someone else saying this, but it does resemble Killzone in that the rifle used borrows the handguard design of the ZM LR300 (also featured in STALKER). Interesting, not sure if a nod to Killzone or just a coincidence.

It was more the fact that the baddies do the exact same thing the Helghast did, as in living in another world, making threats, and then finally attacking.
The guns remind me of just about every futuristic shooter in terms of aesthetics, especially Halo for some reason... But in terms of gameplay? Killzone again.
Why? Because Killzone had those weird combos of having auto fire + underbarrel shotgun, or an smg with auto fire + more powerful single shot fire, or the semi auto + 3 round volley rocket launcher, and so on.
And it had the bugged out shotgun that let you fire 3 rounds at once if you pressed all the triggers :v:
i'll admit, i'm sucker for the sniper/assault rifle they showed off.
This honestly looks way better than Battlefield 1

The sound design is fucking fantastic

how? it looks, sounds, and feels like every other cod game with basically no improvements outside of a generic fighter jet portion.

I haven't played any COD games recently other than Black Ops 3, but the weapon noise (shooting, reloading, etc) all sound very crisp and hard-hitting.
I love how Facepunch posters love telling people to respect others opinions until its an opinion about something they dont like
Not going to lie, the guns are so ugly! Also if this is the future, why are all the cars still move on wheels instead of hovering?
Personally, as a sucker for sci-fi games (especially space opera/warfare types), this looks promising to me. Given that they've got ex-Naughty Dog people on their staff now, and how they keep stressing the narrative aspects of the game, I've got tentative hopes for the campaign being pretty good.'
Also, like someone else said earlier, I'm getting a huge Neil Blomkamp vibe from this.
[sp]and I'm happy about that[/sp]

Why don't we have flying cars or jetpacks in the year 2016?
Call of duty singleplayer campaigns are my guilty pleasure, this looks awesome.
the visual overload looks fun as hell, but I have SO many issues with the space flight battle, there was so much weird pulled-on-a-string motion going on with locking onto targets and when strafing around that cap ship at the end
Frankly it looks on rails as the ground, and in an "open" playspace like that it's just jarring as hell. Same old setpiece navigation as the previous installments, just more candy all over the place to distract.
If I didn't know for sure this game was a single rail roller coaster ride, I'd be super hyped.
Visually and sound-wise it kind of reminds me of Battlefield 2142 a bit.
Outside of that, looks like something I'll wait to see people's opinions on

It's an improvement from previous CoDs, but BF1 still has it beat on both the visual and audio front by a mile

One thing DICE does really well is the reverb on gunshots and explosions.
Battlefield has always looked and sounded better than Call of Duty. Traditionally it was because Call of Duty had 60 FPS on consoles going for it.
Now that both series get 60 FPS on consoles I think it's really transparent that no one wants to push the technology for CoD games because of how hard/expensive it would be.
did no one else laugh at the hacking sequence
That was pretty cool though, casually entering space is something I'm looking forward to.

Since Sledgehammer entered the Call of Duty dev rotation, they probably have longer development cycles than their EA counterparts. They definitely have the budget for it since CoD is still the best selling FPS franchise every year.
The thing is, DICE made a pretty smart investment with the Frostbite engine early on. It has much more room for growth than the iDtech3 derivative that Call of Duty still uses. Activison probably doesn't see the point in investing in a new engine since they're still getting plenty of money by strapping things onto the old engine.
did no one else laugh at the hacking sequence
oh no, a surprise attack from a space colony that really fucking hates us
let's hack their no-security ships and weapons to fuck their shit up in 5 seconds
Also that jet sequence reminded me way too much of Ace Combat Assault Horizon, the game that tried to cash in on the CoD popularity. Fucking lock-ons that automatically have you tailing your enemies as you just mow them down.
Is it just me or does the space sequence actually feel more like space than most space combat games?
It seems like the player is zipping around using massive manoeuvring thrusters instead of using wings in space air like in most games.
Most of the gameplay still doesn't look interesting enough to justify the 60€ price for me though.

No dude it's realistic, I'm a certified hacker and I have hacked over 500 websites, all you do is run hack.exe and you're in.
They also did this too

I haven't bought a CoD since MW2, but this might change that.

Killzone guns in general had its weapon design patterns heavily borrowed from real life weapons
Just look at this, I can see lots of existing firearm parts in each of those guns
So it's not a nod to Killzone, more like the same technique of originating from real life weaponry
