You gotta have pretty deep pockets if you detuned that guitar to B flat using standard strings. Make sure you retune that or know how to properly calibrate that guitar or else you'll be playing with a neck bent all the way back at you, and god help you put that truss rod back into place. I recommend you begin with things that aren't on really low tunings, include at least a couple interesting lines so it doesn't seem you're doing a riff through the whole song, and, gee, maybe get a version without a vocal track.
I don't commonly tune so low, but I'm often tuned to CGCFAD or sometimes another step down. I've had my guitar for 3+ years now and there is nothing wrong with it..yet. I'm not "beginning" at guitar. Did you assume that because it's an easy song? I haven't been honing my skills lately because I don't have much free time for guitar anymore, but I never proclaimed this was a challenging song. This whole "I recommend you begin with things that aren't low tuning" ..? Gee, thanks. I'm not exactly "new" to guitar, though. To be honest you seem like someone that's opposed to anything heavy and you probably don't understand much about metal. You probably regard breakdowns of any sort as "uninteresting", too. But hey, that's just how you came off in my eyes.
No, I'm saying that only a small minority likes this kind of shit. And hell the minority is even smaller on facepunch. There's no point posting this shit here. I'm not ignorant, but I am a douche.
You're an ignorant douche.
How do people even enjoy this kind of music ? :| I'm not threadshitting or anything, I mean if you enjoy it go for it man but there are just some things I'll never understand.

You gotta listen to the good stuff. Like this.
Sheeeeit, Dropped A#? What are these kids doing these days... Lord, lowest our 'metal' band has ever dropped is Eb, lawls. Good job though, video seemed pretty spot on. I'm not much of a fan on the music itself, but it seems you proved some worth in there!
The lyrics of that song are stupid. [editline]04:21AM[/editline] Also OP, you should have posted this in the Music section. You would get better feedback about your work, and a shit ton less about what genre it is. Good job on the cover.
Yeah, music section would have less shitposters, but I'm sort of after views instead. I wasn't expecting many quality criticism posts on facepunch anyhow. And I dunno if they even use seven strings or what, Drop A# is getting low. The only other band I know of that tunes 6-string guitars that low are In Flames (which are a hell of a lot better). Sadly, a bunch of bands tune so low because it's become the norm. :( And I've never looked at the lyrics, but I can assume that they blow some major ass. This was one of those songs I listened to a few times, enjoyed, covered, and then stopped listening to. If I'm gonna post another cover I'll try to pick a song that can appeal to more people. Like maybe some Thrice? You should cover some Russian Circles. [editline]12:46AM[/editline] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s92DwkAjVqk&feature=related

No, actually, low tunings do not denote skill at all. To me it's just kind of a shortcutm, baritone guitars never made any sense to me, that's what the bass is there for anyway. I actually was recommending you to do songs on a higher tuning so you were able to do faster, melodic lines easier with your string gauge. I mean, you're trying to show off skill here, aren't you? Not saying you don't have it, infact, I greatly encourage you to do your own song, or do something really wild and raw, surprise us. Well, as for the last comment, I'm not a fan of metalcore, I'm more of a, uh, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Nevermore, King Crimson, Tool kinda guy. I do listen and play my fair share of metal, though you are right, I don't get much of the metal that is out nowadays. And yeah, I do find breakdowns boring, the whole song should be kickass, not just concrete points.

Meshuggah Do it.
Protest the Hero? Definitely, I already know a few of their songs (mind you, they are fucking hard, so it would take some time to practice them to the point worthy of a cover) Meshuggah? Might be harder, they tune really low. I would need a seven string, or possibly an eight string..I'm fairly certain they use both, depending on the album of course.
You should cover some Russian Circles. [editline]12:46AM[/editline] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s92DwkAjVqk&feature=related
That was really, really good. I'll have to look into this band. Sorry I came off a bit short tempered, guess I'm used to being attacked in this thread ;( I'm not so much trying to show off my skill, I'm trying to show off my video quality. I dunno if you've looked around much on youtube, but 99% of guitar covers are recorded through crappy cell-phone quality cameras, where the noise gets all distorted..I spent a bit of money making sure I stood out from those covers. And I guess we both listen to different types of metal, so its hard to compare apples to oranges. But those bands fit in close to some of the bands I listen to, so you might be impressed with the next video =)
wow deep lyrics "ARFHDIGHAIfAUEHIGHIAFPKOKGAIARGHARGhARHIGTHISMUSICSUX" this music changed my life
because all music has to have intellectual and life changing content
because all music has to have intellectual and life changing content
I think he's making fun of the idiots that actually think this kind of music DID change their lives.
"AHSHAGAGUJLXSHASDGSGBNSDSJGSGBBJGSJBGSGJSDGDBSSGDSFG" *Guitar playing like shit in background*
That would be because his guitar is horribly out of tune.
How can you even like this kind of music at the very least? How? It sounds like tremendous earrape. It's just noise, it's not real music. I don't hear any real rhythm going on. Basically, get the fuck out of here with your shitty music.
I might not like this music at all, But if that's what he likes, it's his right. It's people like you that are not welcome here, not him. Regarding the guitar, that's pretty decent playing from what I heard, but try reducing your treble.
because all music has to have intellectual and life changing content
Although most bands don't have serious lyrics, BMTH lyrics are pretty fucking horrendous.
That would be because his guitar is horribly out of tune.
Hey now, it's not THAT bad. I'd like to see you tune so low with gauges not meant for it ;) It was in tune when I started recording, but one/some of them must have gone slightly out of tune when I started. Most covers are out of tune, actually. But because they record with shitty cell-phone quality cameras that distorts the sound, you can't really tell, as its just a giant mess of audio. At least you can really hear whether it is or not with mine.

[editline]03:35PM[/editline] And before you go on a hissy fit here OP, let me state my point. Criticism is the only way to improve. As an example, if no one told you your guitar was out of tune/you ignored criticism/people praised you even though it was out of tune, you would be playing constantly out of tune and never improving on your performance. People like you need to learn this AS WELL as learn that "Well I'd like to see you try" is not a valid counter-argument. I don't have to be a chef to say the food is shit. I don't have to develop video games to know the game sucks etc. Welcome the criticism and stop the excuses or you're never going to go anywhere.
I liked it, and you did a great cover on digital bath. Props man :D

It wasn't "horribly out of tune" like he said, which is what I'm arguing. Yeah, I'm going to respond to a point I don't agree with. I'm not some egotistical guy that doesn't listen to feedback - but that doesn't mean I can't argue against someones opinion if I feel its necessary. I think your jumping down my throat a bit, I don't respond to every piece of negative criticism like this, only points that I strongly disagree with/responding to trolls.
sounds like trash
For once, I agree with you.
Decent cover however i can't really say much since i really hate bmth xD no offense are anything
I actually think that it's quite good :v:
thanks for the replies, I realized when I posted this that only a few people would actually like it. That's sorta why I posted it..one way or another, it got the video TONS of views. Mostly due to people bumping the thread telling me how much they hate the song :] I've mentioned it a few times but my next cover will be a song that would appeal to much more people. It won't just be full of screaming and stuff. So keep an eye out for it..i'll be making a thread =)
