if the entirety of the forum can see that BDA deserves mod i'm quite positive the mod team sees it too.
Minecraft section only mods couldnt hurt. Maybe they can only make bans on concrete rules. They can't ban for "dumb" or "trolling" but they can ban for spam, warez, breaking the rules in the list.

If we watch the ticker, you should get a good idea of the intensity of discussions taking place. Moderators just got about 10 posts in 10 minutes which is a blistering fast pace for how it normally goes.

This is one reason I wanted gold, it was meant there would be one less place people could say my name and I wouldn't be able to see what the post was.
I get nervous if I see my name in the Moderator forum.

they post the who's online list and then use a random number generator to pick out one user to be a mod
did I say random number generator? i meant throw a bar dart at their screen and see who it lands on
