web dev has 2 week old threads on the first page so it's not very active at all, just report the posts or pm a mod or something. just because there's a few dudes making a mess doesn't mean you need a dedicated mod
Why did my post count go down?
Every section says they need a dedicated moderator, yet no one seems to want to report any posts.
I've never seen the reports number more than four or five at once since I started up again.
How does reporting work anyways? I think I once heard someone (VNL I think?) saying that they only show up if two people report the same post. Is it of any use to report every post when someone's thread shitting or will one do?
Why did my post count go down?
This question again?
If two people+ report a post, it shows up at the top of the page for admins to handle the situation.
Well I assume it was 0 at one time, then it proceeded to 1, and then perhaps to 2 as well
I actually skipped 10,000, that was a strange day
If two people+ report a post, it shows up at the top of the page for admins to handle the situation.
so what happens if everyone starts reporting the fuck out of everything
We also have the option to ignore users who make false reports. And besides, if you just start reporting EVERYTHING odds are you'll just be banned by the first mod who notices.

So just one person reporting a post actually does do anything? I always understood it as it takes 2 reports for anything to happen at all.
We need a dedicated Web Dev mod
I'd like to assign people to specific sections and make sure they're focusing their efforts on doing a good job in their communities but somehow everyone ended up with global powers

how did that happen, all global mods is a terrible idea
how did that happen, all global mods is a terrible idea
Every previous mod obtained global mod powers around when Craptasket and those other peeps became recruits.

I think overall I did prefer having sectional mods, but global moderators aren't a bad thing by any means. While sectional mods might pay closer attention to specific areas of the forum, ensuring every area is properly managed, giving them global powers gives them the option of correcting issues on the fly as they see fit.
Is there talk of switching back to sectional mods?
There is a summary on almost every page of this thread, because on every single page somebody requests a quick summary because they can't be bothered to read.

But not on this page. :V:

What the hell happened to Finnish subforum?
What the hell happened to Finnish subforum?
Garry nuked all custom forums and all posts pre-2009.
Good chance a Finnish chat thread is in the new section: http://www.facepunch.com/forums/387-Chat-Threads
Garry is asshole. Finnish subforum was the only reason that kept me here. Well, I suppose i'll just make banme thread.
Garry is asshole. Finnish subforum was the only reason that kept me here. Well, I suppose i'll just make banme thread.
Don't do it, I know you might be pissed that all your post got nuked, no more subforum, etc. etc. but there IS a Finnish chat thread: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1059466-Dippu-Dippuu-v11-Finnish-General-Chat
So use that and don't get yourself perma'd.
And you made it anyway, oh well. :/
fp mourns the loss of another valued member

Keep everyone with the privileges to moderate every forum but more restrict their focus. If they see a banme or something that is obviously shit then they take action, but things that are not so concrete like what constitutes a shit thread or behaviour that is deemed inappropriate are left to each section moderator. Would give more consistency in the direction a section takes while the hard rules are still enforced as normal.
Some people take this too seriously.
What forums have been removed, yesterday i had 204 posts, today i got 45? What happened?
Why do people make banme threads anyway?
Can't simply not browsing to Facepunch suffice?

Some people like to be noticed on their way out, as in their ban me is a protest.. as many did in last weekends update
Others like to try snag other users into getting banned (temporarily) as well..
Some people don't have the will power to stay away..

Lets just keep to it that looks deceive.

Could we get a "Wrong section" option under report post? The others just don't feel right.

Report them for a different reason, like Spam. It's just as good.

This is true. The rating reason isn't taken into account as far as I know.
This is true. The rating reason isn't taken into account as far as I know.
If that's true, then that's good to hear.
There's been plenty of occasions where I haven't reported posts that were potentially rule violating, simply because I didn't know if it should be categorized as Spam, Warez or Flaming/trolling.
Maybe remove those choices, so there's only Report this Post and Don't report this Post. instead.
Keeping things simple and easy to understand is always good, especially in cases like that.

To an extent. There needs to be two reports of the same type.
Personally I think that's stupid, there should be the two just like you said.
