How about you just let us type the reason ourselves? Even better (although i can see that being abused :v:), it would also be helpful to know if mods actually see the reason or care about it for that matter

It doesn't matter what reason you use. The mods know what's bannable and what isn't, end users don't.
I think it should just be 1 button that says "Report Post"
Alright but when you report a post and it's content seems fine but it turns out the problem is it's the wrong section (my problem initially) i can see where it would be confusing.

I don't think so - The only post that would be in the wrong section is an OP, and whoever is moderating can see the breadcrumb bar at the top so they know what section its currently in.

Whirlpool forums have a simple "report to mods" button, and it works fine as far as I can tell

To be honest the report button needs alot more options. the 4 (i think) that're there right now don't really cut it
there doesn't even need to be 4. just make the button send a general report instead of something specific

All a post needs is 2 reports, 2 unique people.
As long as the post gets reported twice, a mod will see it
The mod is smart enough to work out that a post is trolling, you don't need to tell them that
We're pushing for less options, not more.

it could work but its probably superfluous considering most people don't know the rules in the first place and they'd just stick "this dude is gay" in the box

Random forum question: What forum was recently deleted? Over 3/4 of my postcount is gone (I had over 1k, and was mildly interested in attaining Gold Member status)
A lot of old stuff was just achieved/deleted. Took your post count with it :twisted:

Last year all posts before July 2009 were culled to make the database faster.
Last week Garry deleted the Lifestyle forum, which caused irregularities in post counts.
A re-count was run, but it will obviously only count posts made since July 2009.
