He didn't de-mod him because he was going to "damage" the forums but because of what Hezzy did after wards that made him think that he can't trust him any more.

I happen to have been here for quite a long time, and have come to enjoy posting here. This is a chance for us to change the forum for the better. I love (most of) facepunch, and I think it would be much better if we all sat down and decided what would be best for the forum.

You don't become a mod by applying.
This whole debacle gave me an insight into how leadership as a whole works.
I thought before that anyone in power had some unlearnable "feeling" when finding subordinates, and otherwise had a huge list of criteria to limit the candidates.
More and more I'm finding out that finding subordinates is less choosing and more guessing
