Does it really matter in the end how many "good" or "bad" genes there are. We all die in the end and cease to exist anyway.
Gene's are the closest thing to Immortality we have, and that assumption is somewhat pessimistic, since you are making the future of Humanity a tad bit brighter by contributing "good" genes into the Gene Pool.
Not when a condom is used ;)
Or better yet, the pill.
My opinion is that it's up to the people how many children they have.
Not forcing them, more like a suggestion, if they don't want to have 3 children, by all means don't, I'm just saying that having a small positive growth rate is better then no growth rate at all.
Or better yet, the pill.
The Pill isn't what it's cracked up to be, what with it's environmental implications (made Hermaphroditic Fish and whatnot.) Sure it's all relative, but saying "what's the use in having children?" Is sort of like saying, "What's the use in having Life Insurance?"
The Pill isn't what it's cracked up to be, what with it's environmental implications (made Hermaphroditic Fish and whatnot.)
You're not supposed to give it to fish.
You're not supposed to give it to fish.
Here's how it works: 1. Woman takes Pill, which contains large amounts of Hormones, usually more then she can absorb. 2. Woman takes a piss, which releases the small amount of excess hormones. 3. Hormones find their way into the rivers and streams. That's the gist of it, but they HAVE found fish which, due to hormones in the water, have hermaphroditic qualities.

Responsibility? An invented idea; right up there with "deserve" and "morality" I don't owe anybody anything.
If you didn't create the life in the first place you wouldn't need to insure it :P
If you can support a child and are married, why the fuck not have a child? I understand the problem is the age group I'm arguing to, but really?
The Pill isn't what it's cracked up to be, what with it's environmental implications (made Hermaphroditic Fish and whatnot.)
I've heard all this before, like guys are slowly becoming more feminine, and the average distance between men's scrotum and anus is slowly shrinking (as female bits are located considerably closer to the anus than guy bits) but I'm not worried. The benefits outweigh the costs of hermaphrodite fish. 1) The pill is the most effective way short of straight up abstinence (and that is just something that nobody wants to do) of preventing pregnancy, and 2) the ladies love being on the pill because it makes their menstrual cycle much more regular and predictable.
If you can support a child and are married, why the fuck not have a child? They hit your wallet hard, they shit everywhere, annoy the crap out of you, etc. You could be spending the money that you would have spent on a child on yourself and your partner.
So?
We're drinking that shit.
If you can support a child and are married, why the fuck not have a child? I understand the problem is the age group I'm arguing to, but really?
Because they take up a fuck ton of free time.
We're drinking that shit.
We drink hermaphrodite fish?
Because they take up a fuck ton of free time.
That's what your college/early to mid 20's are for.
I'm looking at the long-term consequences of doing the things we're doing.
Don't drink the water then. Buy bottled water. Poland Springs tastes better then tap.
I agree with the OP that adopting children from Africa or other places alike would be for a greater cause than to reproduce with someone you love.
We drink hermaphrodite fish?
The water the Hermaphroditic fish are in, granted it's purified, but that doesn't take out the hormones. [editline]12:47PM[/editline]
Don't drink the water then. Buy bottled water. Poland Springs tastes better then tap.
They've found Bottled Water is identical to tap water.
Look at it this way, people who tend to be intelligent want to have less kids, which means their GOOD genes are less apparent in the Gene Pool, while the crap gene's of idiots (who tend to have a lot of children) are largely dominant in the Gene Pool. You aren't doing your civic duty, unless you have good genes and have at least 3 kids.
A lot of 'crap' genes can turn out to be 'good' genes in some cases. Personally, IMO, we should adopt those who are suffering rather than to reproduce and worsen their experience.
So? What's a disadvantage of getting feminine hormones?
Changes over time, specifically with embryonic growth.
Changes over time, specifically with embryonic growth.
Meh, don't care.
I only drink Poland Springs bottled water. Tastes very different then my tap water.
Well, that's New Jersey, not like it's too hard to make something taste better then the tap water there.
If you can support a child and are married, why the fuck not have a child? I understand the problem is the age group I'm arguing to, but really?
Why not adopt a child who is suffering and give him/her a wonderful life?
