moonrise kingdom
django
argo
skyfall
the next one's a toss-up
[editline]4th January 2013[/editline]
oh wait prometheus
Prometheus isn't in my top 5, but I'm pretty sure it'd be in my top 10 if I saw 10 movies in theaters this year.
I think I only saw 9.
Right now my favorite film of the year is a tie between The Avengers and Django Unchained (I'm slightly leaning towards Django at the moment, that film is Best Picture material).
After those two, I'd list them as:
Cabin In The Woods
Dredd
Skyfall
The Dark Knight Rises
Looper
21 Jump Street
still waiting on seeing before I decide on them:
The Hobbit
Les Miserables
John Dies At The End
Killing Them Softly
Lincoln
Cloud Atlas
I was looking forward to the Avengers before the first Iron Man was out. That's right 5 years.
Over those years as more and more news had come out, I had built it up in my head so much, there was no way it could surpass expectations.
I am a huge Superhero fan, and a movie featuring several big name actors as several big named superheroes seems too good to be true.
Then the day came and I finally watched it. Only to find out it was better than I had expected. In my personal opinion, the only things wrong with it could not have been helped without destroying another part of the movie.
So yepp. Avengers was my favourite movie of the year by far.
Also Cabin in the Woods was amazing.
1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Looper
3. Skyfall
4. Wreck It Ralph
5. The Hobbit
1. The Dark Knight Rises
2. Skyfall
3. (I haven't seen it yet, but I'll assume the spot for The Hobbit)
1. Argo
2. Skyfall
3. Life Of Pi
4. Killing Them Softly
5. The Dark Knight Rises
I didn't enjoy Avengers, Prometheus and The Hobbit as much as I should have or expected to.
Flight
Simple Life
Skyfall
Moonrise Kingdom
End of Watch
still have a lot more to see..
Likely to be a few more by this week tbh.
I think I have to go with The Amazing Atheist's list. Seen all of the movies, the only thing I would change is to set The Hobbit as 1st.

[QUOTE=Rusty100;39090903]am i the only one that thought the avengers was an incredibly forgettable experience??
[editline]4th January 2013[/editline]
like i probably havent thought about it a single time since i left the theatre[/QUOTE]
the avengers was kind of like getting swirl ice cream and then you realize you greatly prefer chocolate
and chocolate is iron man
1. Dark Knight Rises
2. The Hobbit
3. The Cabin in the Woods
4. Cloud Atlas
1. The Intouchables
2. Skyfall
3. Cloud atlas
Those were my favourites by quite a margin. While still good I was disappointed by Dark Knight Rises and the Hobbit, I expected more.
It would be :
Dredd
Skyfall
Cabin in the woods
haven't seen The Hobbit yet.
Looper, Django, and Cabin in the Woods are tied for first place
others include Batman, Dredd, and Seven Psychopaths
still haven't seen moonrise kingdom what the fuck me
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
avengers was cool but nothing super special

[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]

I wish I could say Prometheus was on my list of favorites but it just
les miserables
prometheus
django unchained
lincoln
[editline]12th January 2013[/editline]
i haven't seen cloud atlas but it'd probably be up there too
The Avengers and Wreck It Ralph when I will manage to see it..
I did not like The Dark Knight Rises due to the plot holes and Amazing Spider-Man just cause of the generic love scenes. (and it happens quite at the beginning which made me want to turn off the movie)
Dredd. Best movie of 2012 that nobody saw.
My fucking theater never got it. I flat out asked them if it was gonna come in, and they said no. I was really damn bummed.
Django Unchained and Looper.
#1 Dredd
A complete Surprise for me.
Dredd, Avengers and Wreck it Ralph. Didn't like TDKR, I felt it was a bit over ambitious, the writing and plot fell on its face a bit imo. The Avengers however did everything it set out to do and then some.
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Oh also Skyfall.
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Cabin in the woods was also great.
Cloud Atlas
solid movie, such a shame it suffered in the box office. maybe its ambitiousness was its downfall, i'm not really sure.
Its ability wasnt able to keep up with its ambition
Skyfall or Django Unchained.

redundant statement of the year
cloud atlas was a piece of shit - truthful statement of the year

what made you want to see it?
you hate fantasy flicks yet you willingly spend money to watch all of them.
1) The Hobbit
2) Cabin in the Woods
3) The Avengers
4) Skyfall
5) Moonrise Kingdom
My biggest disappointment was probably TDKR. It was a good film but didn't really live up to its predecessor's standard.

Cloud atlas is not a fantasy flick. I wonder how Rusty judges films because Cloud Atlas certainly is not a 'piece of shit'. Even if you don't like it's an admirable piece of work.

i dont think that's possible. nobody can admire something they hate.
