Cops get a lot of money busting people under age. They care more about how many fines they can slap on you rather than your safety. I fucking hated the USA. If I was in danger I would never call the cops. My lawyer told me if the cops show up anywhere they are arresting someone so they didn't waste their time.
Always wondered why no one likes the police in USA. Guess I know why now. (if you are telling the truth.)

Never will I get that sound out of my head. Ever.
Ton of technicalities in the UK, although from the age of 5 up to 18, you are allowed to consume alcohol at home as far as I know. Between 8-15, there's another ton you could get into. 18 and over and you're free to buy and drink a beer or two.
Any age can drink beer with a parent, but it's 21 to purchase.
Laws in the US are dependent upon county rules usually, there's places you can't drink at all. They're called dry counties.
18, but 16 with a meal and an adult over 18 (Doesn't matter if they're a parent/guardian), so a 17 year old can have a drink with a meal with their slightly older friends.
:scotland:
Brazil here, 18 purchase and 18 drink. I've been drinking beer.
Illegal in my county. Oh,Well 5 minute drive solves that.
19 in most provinces. Alberta and Quebec have it 18.
16 in italy.
but everyone starts to drink at 13, and going to the disco at 14 years, where you get a free cocktail for free...
In Norway, 18 for alcohol and 20 for liquor.
Never mind as on wiki it says that you can drink at any age buying might be 17-18
Personally i don't like any kind of alcohol.
Middle East here
No general drinking age. Need a license to buy though.
Even though I am American we all pretty much drink when our parents think its ok.
18 in Manitoba.
Am I the only one that thinks alcohol tastes horrible?
As far as I know, you're only allowed to drink at the bar when you're 18 here in Sweden. And you gotta be 20 to buy strong stuff. (5.2% alcohol or above)
21. I don't really care. I don't plan on drinking that often when I'm old enough. I hear alcoholic drinks taste like shit.
18 in Manitoba.
Am I the only one that thinks alcohol tastes horrible?
No you're right.
It tastes fucking horrible.
I bought beer in Greece when I was 12 lol.
Buying age is 16.
I live in California, I don't know if the legal drinking age would be different in any other state, but here in CA you have to be 18, I believe, to be able to buy alcoholic beverages.
In the UK:
Any age, if under a doctor's orders (mainly for methanol poisoning)
5+ to drink in your parent's house, under parental supervision
14+ to enter a public house unattended, but you can't buy alcohol. Landlords can also set an age limit over that, if they wish
16+ to have one drink (a pint of beer/cider or a small glass of wine) with a meal, with an adult over 18 in a restaurant, however the owner can again decide not to serve you
18+ to purchase alcohol, or to drink it unsupervised on a licensed premises or in private property.
However, it can be kinda slap-dash. I used to get served at 16-17 at the local working men's club and a random pub a few miles away and, for reasons I can't fathom, on trains :v:
on a related note. the fact that so many people here try to drink underage is great. for me atleast. my mum works for strathclyde police, and her colleagues often bring back alchohol they've confiscated off of underage drinkers. they're meant to "dispose" of it down the sink at the station or on the road where it's confiscated, but it somehow, magically ends up going to the homes of the officers and civilians in the office.
a couple of weeks ago, i got a full, sealed bottle of jack daniels and a dozen beers. courtesy of some kids in the park
That depends. If they find kids drinking at 14/15, then I couldn't care much less where it ends up, taking it out of the hands of dumb shits like that is just dandy.
I just moved to China from America. For the Chinese I believe it is 18 but if you are American and white they don't care what age you are.
America's age limit is awful. Of course everyone got alcohol every single night they wanted to when underage. But I think it's ridiculous how we can do everything else in the entire country at 18 except drink. We can sign our life away in war, buy cigarettes, go to strip clubs, go gambling but just not drink.
In my opinion, I feel like they will never change the law because of how much money it brings to the courts. My town had people constantly getting MIP's.
In my county we can't even smoke at 18.
Hello Facepunch. Today in my english class, we had a discussion about drinking, drugs, sex and other things. Facepunch is a huge site, and there's users from all over the world here. And I am interested in knowing when you are allowed to drink alcohol in your country, and how you feel about it. If you do it anyways, and what happens if you get caught.
I live in Denmark, and you are allowed to buy alcohol here when you are 16. If you are at a bar, restaurant or disco, you must be 18 to get served alcohol. There is no drinking age, so you can drink all you want if you can get someone to buy it for you. If you sell alcohol to a person below the age of 16 and get caught, you will get a fine.
How do I feel about this? Currently I'm fine about it, but they are considering raising the buying age to 18 years. I do belive that this is a VERY bad idea, as no one below 18 would care, and go buy it anyways. There are also many store owners who will just sell it to you without giving a single shit. Also, I think that keeping the drinking age low, will prevent more people for going over to drugs. Maybe I'm wrong, and if you think I am, please state it so we can get some good discussions out of it. (as Facepunch is very famous for.)
Hm, What about age limits on stronger alcohols? I mean, a 16 year old shouldn't be buying absinthe anyways, but a few beers won't kill them. That'd be an interesting system.
I live in California, I don't know if the legal drinking age would be different in any other state, but here in CA you have to be 18, I believe, to be able to buy alcoholic beverages.
Nope it's 21.
Always wondered why no one likes the police in USA. Guess I know why now. (if you are telling the truth.)
Definitely not true, at least where I live.
Allowed to drink is 19. Once you're 19 you can do anything ever.
19 to buy, not sure what age before you can drink though. Canada
Im assuming that you live in bc, because 19 is the highest drinking age in canada. Its 16 aslong as your drinking in your own residence.
