For whatever reason you ditched the avatar I'm just happy you did and don't mean ill towards you that you used them
I'm just happy that it'll be easier to browse the forum in public
Does it show on new forums, who rated what?
If not, then that should change.
At the moment it only shows the amount rated, not who has.
Pretty sure its going to be added in like how it is currently with displaying users but its all down to Garry to decide, maybe just leaving it at number values might work out better as people wont witch hunt each other.
Make the new forum grey with white text, so it's easier on the eyes.
Native Dark mode would be nice.
I'm gonna miss the sexy avatars.
Though, it'd be interesting to see how the forum reacts if all avatars were disabled.

Just turned off avatars, and holy shit who are you people.
Honestly if you have a problem with people having "inappropriate" avatars while browsing Facepunch in public, going into the general settings and turning off 'show avatars' is quick and easy to do.
So I'm going to state I'm sorry.
My avatar choices on here have always been hitting the line, because I honestly get a laugh out of it and its just a thing I've done on here, and have been for years. But I've never had people react this hard to it before (other than that one time in GMF, but that was done to specifically rile those guys up and make fun of them, GMF was a right shithole back then), with it being one I used previously I didn't think anything of it and thought it'd be fine to go with but clearly not. I guess I've became quite desensitized to the matter as well as I tend to not care about this stuff, often overlook it and think nothing of it.
Anyway because of this we'll look into clearing up whats ok and whats not at some stage, I'm not the only person who has used those style of avatars on here and if you guys want them removing then fair enough we'll consider it.
As for the post between me and Snickerdoodle about it presenting discomfort, I didn't mean it in any serious terms, I was honestly goofing around by saying "Perfect" and to me their post was in a joking manner as well.
I'll stop using "explicit" cropped stuff because clearly it pisses everyone that much off, that this went from went from usual "haha" shenanigans to "ok I actually pissed them off this time, oops".
I guess I'm still too used to just being some random who does dumb shit without a real care in the world, because at that time there was basically no repercussions to care about, while now being someone who should be expected to act as an authority figure per say, I guess I'm expected to know better or something along the lines of that.
Images are serious fucking business apparently.
Anyway, about that new forum, there hasn't been much discussion about what you'd like to see as of late (even though most of it has been cleared up I guess).
I take real issue to this apology because it really isn't when you end it in "Images are serious fucking business apparently." and then try and snag it off with a "what's the deal with aeroplane food guys???"
The issue is the equality between Mods and users (aside from Garry). If I upload a photo of 12 oz with a penis, I'll be banned and if a mod does it, they should be punished either in avatar removal or some other way of consequence
Your laid back approach is fine, speaking your mind is fine, violating the same rules we adhere to isn't.
I browse FP in public and I was one of the users who charged against NSFW/Lewd avatars. My main argument against them is the fact it could bring me into a situation where I was looking at "questionable content". I don't adblock avatars because I know the mods do a good job at policing what is right and wrong and I don't care about anime avatars.
You got to stop riling up people, I hear constantly mods and even golds need to set a standard for newbies, your "just trolling guys" approach doesn't respect that at all.

Why? Why you gotta have bouncing titty animated girls as your avatar in the first place? Why do I have to police my own situation, how come you can't just not be a fucking creep and upload a dumb NSFW avatar
This argument is dumb because by this principle, I should have a gorey avatar, maybe the bodies of those who have fell during mass shootings. Don't worry tho, if you don't like it just turn it off in the settings or adblock me
No.

I'm having a really hard time figuring out why people are having such a big shit over avatars. Are you fucking 12 or something? Does a picture of drawn female face with her tongue out bother you so much that you need to freak out about it? I get it when it's a pair of barely covered tits bouncing but then again why is it such a big deal? I really don't understand cause it's such a tiny image and when your on mobile it's even smaller + you can zoom in on the text side of the post very easily.
I really think this is mostly just people taking a small issue and exploding if because it's reagy and kiwi and a lot of people just like to shit on them every chance they get.
Imagine caring about avatars

Idk bout you fam but the "zoom in and ignore" thing will not work on my phone considering facepunch is fairly optimised on mobiles

Got no beef with either Kiwi or Reagy I was just voicing that I think his apology was slack
Imagine caring about avatars
I put about thirty minutes into Ta16's [del]Title[/del] avatar, thanks
I really don't understand cause it's such a tiny image and when your on mobile it's even smaller + you can zoom in on the text side of the post very easily.
Reagy's avatar wasnt a tiny image, it was fucking huge with bouncing tits taking up 3/4 of the gif. You could see the avatar from across the room
So like ur title and tudds avatar.
So like ur title and tudds avatar.
last time I checked my title wasn't a pair of bouncing titties

I don't have any issues with anime avatars, just sexualised cartoons.
Imagine caring about avatars
Imagine having so little to add to the actual discussion, that you have to go and make fun of people on one side because not caring yourself is apparently too hard.
Looks like the decade-long avatar debate has returned once again, classic Facepunch material right here.
We also, like two or three years ago, used to be flooded with avatars of super sexualised furries and loli's with what was very clearly cum on their face but it was cropped just enough so you couldn't be sure
Didn't we have a vote to ban freak 'tars at one point? Or was that just the weird porn thread

IIRC Weird porn was banned outright after this thread https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1431319
1,176 - Yes
1,317 - No
I think the avatar issue was ruled that lewd/NSFW were banned (incl. cum) but anime and furry avatars were fine
What I want to know about all the porn threads back in the day is why people thought that FP was a good place to post porn of any kind in the first place instead of going, I don't know, anywhere else.
Didn't the porn threads attract multiple pedophiles looking to groom the young teens who were posting in them, or am I thinking of different threads?
What I want to know about all the porn threads back in the day is why people thought that FP was a good place to post porn of any kind in the first place instead of going, I don't know, anywhere else.
Convenience, sharing taste with people you know, community. Bonding with your fellow Facepunchers.
Imagine caring about avatars
i recognize that avatar
rip
If you only browse FP alone in your own room then I can see why you wouldn't care about avatars, but some people live in hostels, dorms, shared apartments etc. and don't want a website that is supposed to be mostly SFW looking like it's filled with anime porn ads
What I want to know about all the porn threads back in the day is why people thought that FP was a good place to post porn of any kind in the first place instead of going, I don't know, anywhere else.
The amazing ultra-vehicle for porn that is the modern internet was still being put together, so people were still socially sharing porn.
On-topic, let's talk about,
Why even care about avatars?
Shame on you, hypocrite, and anyone who uses this as a defense of any type of avatar at all. You make a liar of yourself when you defend any avatar with this nonsense, because you put forth the effort, that is, you show you care, when you say this.
Short of somebody who has no avatar at all, there is no one who has the right to say this when you have at some point, consciously picked an image and set it as such that it is automatically attached to your posts for the indefinite future.
Then we come to the next horseman of the 'tarpocolypse.
Just ad block it, lol
followed shortly by his brother,
Just disable avatar viewing all together
If that's your solution to it, then you are just as bad as the first. At that point, why even have rules about avatars at all?
Would you openly accept and embrace tits just floating wildly though the forum? Wolfboys with cummies plastered all over their faces telling you why Trump's latest policy isn't that bad in Polidicks? Swimsuit wearing lolis, cropped at about-so-high chatting casually about videogames? ISIS beheading gifs commenting on the latest JonTron video threads?
I mean, hey, you can just ad block it away or disable avatars!
Again I say, shame on you, hypocrite. Because you do care, and if some enterprising gold came along and made their avatar a .gif of the sicknastiest reverse cowgirl on either side of Texas, you wouldn't bat an eye at the ban that came with it.
The fundamental issue is that Reagy, after ascending to Modhood, has systematically abused their power, and that abuse of power has been defended with a lackadaisical and circular, "who cares." Likewise, people were 'unhappy' when Tudd, then Jemima, brought the green tide of froggers with them. But, "who cares."
This forum does not have to strictly be "family friendly." Nobody here is jockeying for corporate sponsorships, last I checked. This forum does not have to be "serious business." It's a righteous laugh when a mod occasionally breaks a rule or shirt-fronts the community for a giggle. It's a problem when it is constant, it is a problem when the rules are beyond unclear, and it is a problem when enforcement comes down to favoritism and "jokes," where only a handful of people are laughing.
I am all for a freer internet. I am all for there being less rules and more options. However, if you're going to have rules at all, they have to apply fairly, equally and clearly.
When Craptesket or Hezzy or Postal drops a wild sickcrazy shitpost in the middle of a huge discussion, everyone has a laugh. Then they don't do it again for like a month.
Imagine if every conversation in Polidicks was Big Dumb American coming in and saying,
lel trump babbbbies so mad, lelelelel try to defend this JUSTIFY THIS TUDD
every day, over and over again. Imagine if anyone who brought it up or criticized it was answered with,
It's just the internet, lol, nerd. why even fucking care? go buy a newspaper if you care about the news
but that's not how we handle it. We expect the mods, apart from the occasional exercise of their superlative freedom that comes with power, to be held to at least the same standards that any regular John Q. Internet is held to.
Which ultimately has not been the pattern.

You should take some posting tips from Crazy Ivan
Is it just me or did facepunch develop this weird attitude over the past few years where a lot of people act like they're too cool to care about things?
You should take some posting tips from Crazy Ivan
Srry I didn't realize that I need to write a small essay for you to properly grasp the idea that complaining about people complaining about something is utterly idiotic and makes you a hypocrite.

Fake contrarians and puritans.
Gotta look cool and act like you've never been 13/dumb/horny
