the opposite of ratings is people posting "I agree" and holy shit is that annoying
I disagree
I agree

I disagree
That is funny
Ban anime.
The best way to a dystopian dystopian future for facepunch is to remove ratings and expect people not to start flaming other.
I was just thinking that. They are such an eyesore.
I'm afraid to browse the forums publicly. Those perverted drawings clearly aimed at young children with its use of simple color palettes, they catch your eye the same way cat's barf does. One day I won't be able to change the tab quick enough. One day, someone will label me a fucking weaboo loser.
It could happen to you to. Act now.
Can't tell if meant to be a joke but reminds me of that anti-smoking commercial that claimed that the flavored cigarettes were meant to attract kids :v:
Ban anime.
You into self harm?

I like to live dangerously.
I also don't put ice cubes in my water. Livin on the line man!
This forum feels pretty dated even compared to some SMF 1.2 forums i've visited. Let's chop off a bit of the rules and let the community decide what type of authoritarian future they want for this forum.

This kid doesn't know anything tbh
this forum feels dated compared to everything ever
I always kind of figured a lot of people use internet forums simply so they could say things they wouldnt otherwise say.
If you draw attention to your own internet persona, I feel that would make me more self-conscious about the kind of things I post or the kind of threads I browse which is exactly the reason I would be here in the first place.
I think you grossly overestimate how much people care about what you're doing on your phone if it isn't blatantly weird and overestimate even more how many people can even discern what you're doing

tbh people caring about what someone is doing on their phone is even weirder than having anime avatars
I don't think I've met a single person who cares about that 'space'

Maybe you should lurk for a while and learn about the community

I've been lurking. We still need an authoritarian dictatorship for these forums. :ok_hand:

I meant for more than a week.
Unless you're a gimmick alt, then just go ahead.
The only time I really care about ratings is when I get maybe like 5 agrees after saying something that really goes against the popular opinion. It's nice to know that you're not the only person who holds that view.
I've been lurking on and off for a few months. I'm not new to the forums at all, the first time I really visited this was for a gmod related issue 3 years ago.
It's off-topic though. I'm not a gimmick alt.

I vote we go the way of big money - whoever donates the largest amount to Garry gets to make a decision.
Bidding wars for all!
Aw heck yeah! I love socialism!
I rarely come here now so what I could be saying could all be bullshit, so keep that in mind.
I feel that there's a disconnect between what the users want and what the moderators want, and when complaints were brought up in this thread, the whole "lol imagine caring about [issue]" made it really hard to actually bring up points here.
I'm really glad to see this change though; I hope to see it be positive, allowing for more community focused talks, and less of the feeling that the mods can tell the users to practically fuck off because they don't feel its worthy, even if it is being discussed behind the scenes.
Having a concrete set of rules will be great as well. I haven't been active here in a long time, so I have no clue if the unwritten rules that were in effect when i was active are still around, or if there's new ones I don't know about.
Having the mod rules public, and the unwritten riles written will make this place a lot more friendly for returning people and new people.

Its less "i really care about what someone else is doing on their phone" and more about mild curiosity out of boredom along with the kind of prejudices people would make.
I mean, if you saw someone browsing fox news on their phone or reading Mike Huckabee tweets or something like that, you would probably assume something about them as a person even though it might be really common.
Ive personally known some people that im pretty sure would act differently around people if they found them viewing fox news on their phone.
My main takeaway from all this is that the peek behind the curtains is fascinating. I was always under the impression that the mods were on the same page. This kinda makes me look at some of them in a new light.
I'd kill to read the chatlogs during the Voldemort crisis.
The what now?
I'm not joking when I say this: Unwritten rules will always be unwritten rules, because they either can't be explained without having lots of loopholes or need desperate defining to be truly a rule.
Some rules, like "No loopholes" rules, are usually unwritten. There's probably a loophole in this rule. Is there a loophole that can let you from stopping a loophole that creates a loophole?
A concrete set of rules is great, but every now and then you need to add some. The founding fathers were pro-slavery, and wanted slavery, but they still created the first amendment rights for all people. It was followed until someone just declared blacks not people. Then you need to add another, bigger rule, and it's still gonna have some chips of the side atleast.
frankly the biggest travesty of this avatar mess seems to be that nookyava doesn't seem to have a big rem avatar anymore
frankly the biggest travesty of this avatar mess seems to be that nookyava doesn't seem to have a big rem avatar anymore
:worried:
Don't be ridiculous we must ban anime, I would never have that!
Solution: Ban all animods. Then the furries will take their place and take this place into true hell.

Bet you won't do it again
Speaking of common sense it’s not stressed enough but it’s pretty vague as hell.
I could just summarise is as don’t be a idiot. But that’s probably not enough for some.
In FP4.0 should we rewrite the rules page? Think it would be for the best and I’d love to put forward some new rules and remove that dodgy filesmelt link. We maybe able to rewrite it on this version however but no promises.
I've laid the groundwork, check the bottom left
