Make Facepunch better:
Unban and remod MaxOfS2D
Ok now this is a great example of me wanting to step out of line and banning you for suggesting something terrible.
Next you're gonna want Compwhizii back as an admin.
Agree about some of the rules not being written down
'Rating spam', 'Trolling with ratings', 'Cares about ratings', 'Visitor messager abuse', 'Mod sass' for example are not written down anywhere
Do you seriously need to be told explicitly not to do any of these things?
My solution would be just add lurk more and try to understand how this forum works rather than go in blind deep however we don't have ftp access so we can't actually adjust the rules page as much as we really need to atm.
I heavily disagree, the rules need to be clearly written down so that way when you invoke them you can actually point to them and say "they're there, you agreed to them when you signed up".
Obviously nothing on the rules page can change without ftp access, but just adding "lurk more" isn't going to change anything positively to be honest. It's not even really a band-aid solution, its more akin to just ignoring the fact that the rules on FP aren't written down all that well.
Do you seriously need to be told explicitly not to do any of these things?
Generally rules are written down, yes. Like what logical argument is there against writing down the rules except for "we don't have access to that part of the site"? What are you actually afraid is going to happen if the rules are written down?
If the rules are written down and someone still breaks them, that makes them an idiot who deserved to get banned. There's 0 downsides to making the rules clear.
My solution:
Replace the dead discord link in GD with a general rules page.
Fixes the "Lurk moar xd" shenanigans and gives people a actual rules page
My solution:

That invite link isn't dead though.
Like just tested it.
That invite link isn't dead though.

Then make up your mind on the link then.
We don't need two invite links to the same discord, especially if said in its IS ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE FP FORUMS
Has the site been loading like crap for anyone else? Sometimes I'll have a thread buffer for a full minute and only half of the page will be loaded by the time I try and scroll down. It's been happening on both my laptop and mobile.
Haven't noticed anything lately but it could just be Cloudflare being Cloudflare again.
Might be worth checking your connection to the site.

... They're both the same links.
I think you need to go check your eyes.
Perhaps a page where every ban that was made gets listed so we can see what not to do.
If you're talking about the one in the More dropdown, that's to Garry's dead server, we can't remove that link.

I'd rather know I'm fucking up instead of just keeping down on the wild ride thinking everything is ok.
Over what happened with the avatar stuff, I was led under the impression it was all a joke hence why I followed in suit but clearly some people took having a bit of fun as something more serious and flipped their shit over it (which I admit wasn't really helped by throwing more fuel into the fire, even though it was quite comical from our end).
The avatar stuff really isn't a big deal as many users have said, it's an easy fix to add an avatar to adblock. It only became annoying when you would slightly change your avatar to get around the block because instead of being a simple fix it needs to be done over and over again just to get at the people who don't want to see it in the first place. Even worse when the suggestion is to "just adblock it guys "
other than that It's really a non-issue.
Perhaps a page where every ban that was made gets listed so we can see what not to do.
yes, bring back the ban list page.
If a rules page had to be made, I feel one good way of trying to summarize the rules of Facepunch is by showing examples of bans that have happened over various reasons.
They could be made up and show "you can do THIS, but you can't do THAT or this happens".
Trying to summarize every rule that exists is not an easy thing to do but I feel like we have to start somewhere, and then go up from there. I'm sure something decent looking can be made that will give new users a better hint.
If there was FTP access it wouldn't be hard to edit the exisitng rules page. All that really needs to he added are a few of the missing rules, and maybe a couple of examples for categories that are missing them (for example, "ITT" or "inb4" under the memes category since people get banned for those a lot).
Keep "bans are at the discretion of the moderation staff" at the top, with the added and fleshed out rules you've got yourselves a good rule list.

The sole purpose of my existance
All you gotta do is put me in coach.
You wouldn't believe how good of a mod I can be when seriously trying.

- literally everyone
- literally everyone
Unlike the rest of the dirty masses, I already had keys to power once and performed admirably. :v:
Whatever helps you sleep at night Tudd.
Having a moderator that would actually clamp down on some of the Trump flaming on FP would go a long way to make things less of an echo chamber. Tudd is the best candidate.
We already know the mods are paid by Hillary Clinton and the Democrats to suppress positive Trump news. I'm pretty sure they had a hand in Pizzagate as well.

"hey guys its good that stormfront is down but what happens if corporations abuse their power to arbitrarily deny any other entity access to DNS servers on the open internet for more than just nazis"
"stop defending nazis, i bet you're secretly a nazi too"
This has been happening in threads more and more often as the neo nazi thing has ramped up. I dont see posts attempting to do this shit and runining the few interesting discussions in these threads as a worthwhile contribution to the forums. It lowers the quality of threads significantly and is a very clearly defined type of post, enforcement against it would be straightforward. Thoughts?
Edit: example that i just noticed https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1576535&p=52618239&viewfull=1#post52618239
Honestly its even worse. Implying that there's a whole faction of secret nazis that appear on facepunch to defend anything related to them is a joke if you actually read the posts he's referencing in the thread.
yeah you should be linking to the actual posts tbh
Link some specific posts and I can take a peek.
I can understand where people get the inclination that a user might be a nazi apologist or may be excusing clearly awful behavior from people who refer to themselves as nazis but unless someone is posting hateful rhetoric, there's not really a reason to call them a nazi themselves.
Posts in those threads in particular should be constructed properly, especially considering how much that topic is at the forefront at the moment.

I dont mean to sound rude, but did you feel the need to come here to complain about posts you don't like or agree with? nothing you're talking about is breaking any rules

I would argue posts like that *should* be breaking a shitposting rule or something. It's not against the rules currently, i wouldnt want anyone retroactively banned or something. It just feels like every time i open one of these threads i see discussions get derailed by this.

I don't see how its derailing, its talking about nazis in a thread about nazis
