Kiwi, how many times do you change your avatar cheezes
As often as I do, but you don't bitch about me. :excited:
I would be okay with an avatar cooldown because changing avatars is what made me disable them. Couldn't identify anyone.
hi
mine was an apng of the wryyyyy guy from like 2008/early 09 on until apng quit working and i changed it to this which i made as :1488: for the emoticon contest

pretty easy to make a userscript for that

why is there so many people who identifies people by avatar rather than username?

This is where you learn people from their posting styles.
Craptasket is a glorious example of this.
I forget who he is when he starts posting seriously.
why is there so many people who identifies people by avatar rather than username?
probably the same reason people tend to remember faces more than names
why is there so many people who identifies people by avatar rather than username?
I'll remember people who post, but when I'm reading through a thread, what is infinitely flashier is their avatars. A lot of times they're animated, brightly colored, and sometimes huge. I think it's natural to simply react to that instead of looking at usernames. I do this with IRC too, since clients often feature random coloring.
probably the same reason people tend to remember faces more than names
well to be fair you don't have the opportunity to change your face unless you have lots of dollarydoos or a bucket of acid at your disposal
pretty easy to make a userscript for that
Well, I browse on my phone too.

Don't mention me unless you're ready to fight
that's cuz no one cares bout u
I consider that a good thing.
Prepare for trouble,
and make it double.
When Reagy and Crap,
Get ready to rumble.
I consider that a good thing.
good cause I care about you
In other news, some kid is really buttmad over Postal and co.
This is the [del]23rd[/del]24th account I've banned so far, hilariously sad. :v:
I re-enabled avatars and wrote a script to make them a little less distracting. All avatars are reduced to 80 x 80 with cropping. If you aren't hovering over the post, they're B&W, lowered opacity. If you are hovering over the post, they're full-opacity, full-color, and there's CSS to animate the crop so you can see the full avatar. I did it just for fun, really:
#userdata > a {
display:block;
width:80px;
height:80px;
overflow:hidden;
margin:0 auto;
}
.avatar_image {
width:100%;
height:100%;
object-fit:cover;
object-position: 50% 0%;
filter:grayscale(100%);
border:1px solid #FFF;
box-sizing:border-box;
opacity:.25;
background:#FFF;
transition:
opacity .25s,
filter .25s;
}
.postcontainer:hover .avatar_image {
animation-duration: 5s;
animation-name: avatar-slide;
animation-iteration-count: infinite;
animation-direction: alternate;
animation-timing-function:ease-in-out;
filter:grayscale(0%);
opacity:1;
}
@keyframes avatar-slide {
from {
object-position: 50% 0%;
}
to {
object-position: 50% 100%;
}
}
EDIT: You'll feel like a creep if you do it to Reagy's avatar because it looks like you're eyeing his avatar up and down.
avatars stick out in memory so much more, especially when they're pleasant to look at. like fuck me if I had to remember a bunch of names of thread regulars, but i can always recall a name by looking at an avatar, like Ganerumo's Hellboy, bynine's little floof man, Mort Stroodle's Tracer, ForgottenKane's Neferpitou, DiscoInferno's snowy hooded face, HumanAbyss's Soldier, etc...
And i'd hope people have associated karate BMO with my name by now. I'd like to keep it for a long time

By that rationale my transformation is complete: I am one with Tudd
can i get my avatar changed to tudds as well
I'd actually love to see an "avatar history" feature on profile pages. Like how Steam lists previous usernames.

This is the last time I'll post about it, but I decided to throw it up on userstyles if anyone wants it.
1. Avatars cropped to 80x80 and set to grayscale. Avatars will slide up and down if they're taller than 80px and you hover over their post. Avatars will also become full-color upon post hover.
2. Users without avatars now get that dog-ass avatar avatar.
3. Banned users have a quick avatar I whipped up to fit within 80x80.
4. Titles are set to the same default size and same default weight. Titles with centering or images are mutilated to the point of not being visible or just not being as annoying.
And if you order now, you'll get ratings without descriptions. (Because we all know what a "Funny" is by looking at the icon.) Also comes with lazy code.

And direct any bugs or whatever to me through PM - I don't wanna hijack this thread with it.
yeah i have a bug report, this doesnt let the mods piss off whinos

Make a version that only works on mod avatars
By that rationale my transformation is complete: I am one with Tudd
so you are become death, the destroyer of forums?
I still don't get exactly what spoiler abuse is.
leftovers from before that weren't destroyed? [sp]to show off how much BIGGER and BETTER the new things are!!![/sp]
Wouldn't this count as spoiler abuse? If not, why not? This isn't a spoiler at all. What are the rules for spoiler tags?

Well you see [sp]looks at the length of this spoiler[/sp]so because of that[sp]this one may be longer, I'm not entirely sure though. One would think by having something this long as a spoiler that it would contain some sort of juicy information[/sp] but [sp]this ones going to be a baby one, just because.[/sp] so with all that being said we can't have nice things.
Basically don't go ham like that with the tags. Use them for their intended purpose, or for a little comedic value in the proper forum, but don't go crazy with them.
