How about we just get rid of all the bots and replace it with absolutely nothing. That way, everybody would be happy!
You could have a bot that posted nothing but pure, unedited press releases and patch notes and people would still hate it.
If patch notes is what we want we're gonna have to unban wickedplayer
If patch notes is what we want we're gonna have to unban wickedplayer
He's active on Twitter and has a news-dedicated account
He's active on Twitter and has a news-dedicated account
Make it a news bot, and if he finds out and tries to sabotage it by spamming or something it'll just make the people who subbed to it angry and unfollow him The perfect crime
You could have a bot that posted nothing but pure, unedited press releases and patch notes and people would still hate it.
Press releases are often pure bullshit as well, so that wouldn't surprise me at all.
next time you think of making a post complaining about how bad pcgamer is remember pcgamesn
Remember pcgamesn actually read the forums
next time you think of making a post complaining about how bad pcgamer is remember pcgamesn
I did think about PCGamesN and that's why I felt like kinda an asshole complaining about PCGamer, but that article really riled me up with how bullshit the title was.
For every dumb clickbait article, PCGamer posts five to ten normal articles often covering some niche game that I otherwise would not have heard of. The terrible clickbait is there, but people who act like it's every second article are wildly exaggerating.
I think the bot selection is fine. Maybe I'm beating a dead horse, but as others have said, gaming journalism isn't exactly guaranteed to be super high end and cutting edge writing.
How do they manage?
Can Hezzy or whoever make it so that we can rate our own posts? Sometimes I let off a golden post and it feels like a waste that I can't let myself know that my post was A1.
i believe that if a user is able to prove they're able to perform autofellatio they should be allowed to self rate. it's the same thing in the end, frankly.
only losers rate themselves
Listen, just because I am a young, confident man, doesn't mean you should try to drag me down to your level, square.
Still maintain we should just dump gayming bots all together if we cant agree that the pcgamer shitpost problem is a non-problem.
For every good PC Gamer article, there are about 10 bad ones. Just use Giant Bomb or something.
Giant Bomb don't post news.
Update on newpunch? What's happening?
For every good PC Gamer article, there are about 10 bad ones.
Perhaps consider reading through the last few days/pages of PCGamer articles before complaining. Because I did, and I'm not seeing the endless deluge of garbage that you claim we're up to our necks in. I find the idea that we should get rid of the news bots altogether because you pay more attention to the occasional clickbait than the actual news incredibly stupid.
Update on newpunch? What's happening?
Garry is in the "do nothing" phase of content creation, progress should resume sometime between now and 2020.
only losers rate themselves
All of reddit
All of reddit
speak for yourself, I remove the upvote on all of the posts I make
Never got why reddit did that. Really goes against the point of ratings/upvotes.
Never got why reddit did that. Really goes against the point of ratings/upvotes.
Because obviously you agree with your own post otherwise you wouldn't post. Also ego reasons, eitherway reddit is dumb and thats just one of the few things that makes it dumb.
Because obviously you agree with your own post otherwise you wouldn't post. Also ego reasons, eitherway reddit is dumb and thats just one of the few things that makes it dumb.
But I thought upvoting was to say that it was a useful post, not that you agree with it :^)
Because obviously you agree with your own post otherwise you wouldn't post. Also ego reasons, eitherway reddit is dumb and thats just one of the few things that makes it dumb.
The real reason is that posting a comment and having it immediately have +1 points is more psychologically gratifying than it starting at zero.
Can Hezzy or whoever make it so that we can rate our own posts? Sometimes I let off a golden post and it feels like a waste that I can't let myself know that my post was A1.
2nding this
Reddits format makes me want to cut my eyes with a knife. The classic forum layouts, like we have here, are just fine. Is newpunch suppose to change that a lot?
nope
So a few months ago I asked one of the mods if it was possible to get a name change to reflect the fact that I've transitioned and use another name and was told it wasnt possible. But recently another facepuncher got exactly that so did it suddenly become possible? If so then would it be okay if I got my username changed?

Name changes are only done in a VERY limited number of circumstances, generally when something outside of the forum/something legal is involved. Hezzy will say once he sees your post, but don't hold your breath.

It's a pretty sucky situation to be in.
Eh, a girl could choose Kyle on the internet, dunno why you'd fixate on a username.
