The person who got their title changed would complain to a mod, mod removes title, ebin memer is out 25$
How would you know they did that though?
The person who got their title changed would complain to a mod, mod removes title, ebin memer is out 25$
ebin memer is out 5$ at most. tbh hezzy could just message them to confirm it if anything. But if two people were in cahoots it would probably mean cheap title change gifts.
Just a thanks to Hezzy and everyone involved for dedicating so much time to the community.
I’m curious about the title bit. What would stop someone from just buying the “change own title” for 5 dollars less but putting someone else’s name?
I mean, it won't stop the people who know the tricks of the trade it's a html form, it could most likely be upgraded to, when selecting self targeting options, disallow input, and change it's content to the name of the current user. Cheeky JS x = document.getElementById('navbar-login').children[3].innerText
I'd like to see Instagram added to the under-avatar social media icon things. I can't think of others to add but I'm sure there's more that people would enjoy having.
I'd like to see Instagram added to the under-avatar social media icon things. I can't think of others to add but I'm sure there's more that people would enjoy having.
would probably need FTP to add an icon at the least

Hezzy if I donate a fiver can I have one of those wicked sick police cars? I'm good for it. [editline]2nd October 2017[/editline] Two truncheons for a tenner?

If you don't get a police car, then you know that your money goes towards a great cause of having the loving Facepunch community getting together.

We don't care about speculation once the situation is actually no longer active. When there is an active situation, we prefer updates. Especially considering I had a personal investment in the situation myself and was staying updated with it via FP. Now that the situation is no longer active, people are free to share their thoughts. If they're insensitive though, be prepared to be called out on it. This just happened a few hours ago. Best to err on the side of caution.
Would FT be a good place to make a thread to share things from the jungles that are Google Plus?
Would FT be a good place to make a thread to share things from the jungles that are Google Plus?
Well I mean there isn't really any better sections to put it (aside from maybe GD, but GD often has series threads and not one off threads, which I imagine your thread would be), so yeah probably
I dont really understand why the recent shooting in Las Vegas thread had to be handled the way it was by the mod team. Why curb discussion and speculation, and more importantly, why misconstrue speculation as something that's inherently insensitive to the victims? Should the entire thread just be sterile, cold updates about ongoing developments and chain posts of people just posting empty, taken-for-granted replies like "hope everyone is safe" for the entirety of the thread? Trying to counteract people who take advantage of tragic events to push their narratives by making all speculation verboten seems very silly to me, and I really dont think that it's insensitive to the victims of the event in anyway whatsoever. There is a clear dissonance between the two topics, imo. Wasn't sure where to post this, either way it's not really that big of a deal, just something that irked me.
Of course it's good to curb the wild speculations, shit like this makes people even more panicked and reinforces prejudices and on top of it all makes it harder to follow the officially confirmed info. Why would you even doubt this decision, the "live ticker" shit that the new media produces doesn't help anyone and just escalates.
Well I mean there isn't really any better sections to put it (aside from maybe GD, but GD often has series threads and not one off threads, which I imagine your thread would be), so yeah probably
I was kind of hoping to make it into a series thread dedicated to looking at obscure websites and forums
I was kind of hoping to make it into a series thread dedicated to looking at obscure websites and forums
Still put it in FT, and in the rare case it does get to a 2nd thread, then make that 2nd thread in GD
In FT, if a thread dies, is it a good idea to make a new thread or bump the old one?
In FT, if a thread dies, is it a good idea to make a new thread or bump the old one?
I'd say bump the old one if you can find it
I sure love the new gun discussion thread in SH it's just a shame that people get off topic with that Vegas shooting. Can a mod, maybe a gun loving one, please stop the derailing about the death of over 50 people and 400 injured ⸮⸮⸮ I sure do wanna read the same and same and same and same and same gun discussion arguments without getting disctracted by death and misery. Sry for being a bit pissed but I sometimes feel like we all need to rethink what we are doing here.
In FT, if a thread dies, is it a good idea to make a new thread or bump the old one?
If its within a few weeks, bump it, otherwise re-create it if its new content. You gotta look more to the degree is it worth reviving the thread or not. FT is kinda the special snowflake because if stuff dies off too much, it falls off the frontpage and the only way to find it then is by search, and for it to fall off the frontpage its gotta be dead by a few weeks.
I think it is a good time to talk about what we can do to prevent things like this from happening again, but at the same time, there is a way to do it with tact. Hillary did not do it with tact.
Like, since that point, that thread has completely stopped being anything related to the Las Vegas shooting. It's literally nothing but speculation about guns and circlejerking about gun laws with the odd update about the situation posted here and there. It's actually inhibited me from staying up to date on the situation here because people have railroaded that thread so hard that I can't be bothered digging through the excess 15+ pages of gun debate. I'm just trying to put together why stuff like this:
Welp, incoming 2am rant from the PoV of a Norwegian who has to deal with none of these issues: Can someone explain why there is a widespread belief that the government of the biggest first world nation in the world will overthrow the US at any second, as if that wouldn't massively destabilize the nation? And why act like the constitution is the word of god and should never be changed? (Some "purist" people seem really insane when it comes to this) The world changes, the constitution clearly has flaws like the right to bear arms that is both fueled by and breeds more paranoia in the modern US. The way I see it, parts of the constitution is clearly outdated and needs major fixing. Disarming the citizens of the US could be a good thing... if it had been done 70 years ago. It's obviously impossible today to remove all unregistered firearms around.. Guns arent a benefit to the american society other than as a luxury / novelty / tool. Guns themselves as objects/tools/utilities aren't an issue per se, but the whole nearly religious attitude and unhealthy paranoia fueled "from my cold dead hands" view makes the whole situation seem incredibly dangerous. I just wish the US would focus more on mental health and rehabilitation, and take that final step into becoming a great first world country. You don't need to make guns illegal, but I believe a major attitude change around the reason for having them is sorely needed. I'd like some actual PoV's from those who have different views than me. Oh and if i'm outright wrong or stupid about some parts, i apologize.
Is being qualified as "Okay" in that thread, let alone Sensationalist Headlines since this kind of agenda pushing belongs in Polidicks (imo), when it genuinely has nothing to do with the actual situation
SH and Polidicks have both been like that for a long time. People arguing about nonsense for no real reason that is only tangentially related to the original purpose of the thread but it tends to be close enough to not be entirely off-topic. Would take a consensus from mod team to determine whether or not that's a thing we still wanna allow but I wouldn't mind talking about it if it's bothering a lot of people. No promises on a solution though. We don't always all agree on things.

there is just nothing new to it. and if there was anything new to it it would be NEWS can that be discussed maybe NOT in the damn vegas shooting thread? please.
there is just nothing new to it. and if there was anything new to it it would be NEWS can that be discussed maybe NOT in the damn vegas shooting thread? please.
There's a thread in PD now that's separate and specifically about gun control so I think the discussion could be moved there
That's a good idea.
