Heading to RIT this fall to major in electrical engineering.
I've lived in the south for most of my life, though, so winters are gonna SUCK.
Shame you didn't get in to Berkeley. I'm a frosh there and it's a wonderful school, especially strong for Mechie if you wanted to go that way. But the other UC schools are also quite strong and respectable. Can't say I know much more about the others.
I think it largely comes down to what financial aid they give you.
Went to a community college for two years. Applied to one 4 year university (Northern Illinois) and got in. I'm not fucking around with applying to some crap Ivy League school like you rich fucks.

Haha...I hear you, except for the Ivy League stuff.
...in fact, I don't think one Ivy has been mentioned yet.
But I understand your pledge for a community college. No doubt they can be a super time/money saver. Unfortunately, my near-derelict brother is a product of our local CC. He should be four years out of school, but is living at home, paying our parents rent, and hopefully moving out this fall to SUNY Buffalo(State University of New York at Buffalo).

It looks like no one here is interested in ivory tower bullshit, and I don't think they should be, what real benefits can you get from them that you couldn't from a competent second tier college?
Harvard
I'm finishing my last semester at the local community college. Got accepted to Appalachian State University in western north carolina for next fall. I'm super excited because I didn't think I would get accepted anywhere. I hear they have the best weed.
Holy shit :v:
I go to Clarkson, its an okay campus.
IT GETS COLD AS FUCK UP HERE!
And the snow never goes away! It also will snow for an entire week and then stop for a day, to continue for another week. The weather up here is just....I miss Philly.
come on over to RIT and enjoy all the men

Yeah, its a sausage fest at Clarkson as well. Most of the girls have boyfriends by the second month in so unless you go in quick there's no point.
I've always been a straight-A student with the exception of high school when I battled a growing depression that had stretched over 4 years. I was only beginning to fight it and help myself. It wasn't that I couldn't do the work, I was more than intellectually capable, but I was struggling emotionally and having too many breakdowns and was unable to get any of my work done due to stress all the time. I just burnt out in a short amount of time, and essentially I never finished high school. While I never finished my sophomore year, I'm now in community college, and circumvented getting a GED.
I always dreamed about being an Ivy league student, but even though I no longer suffer from depression, the time it spent for me to get myself back in good standing and the energy it took to just be a normal person again drained my edge for anything else, and now I feel like a shadow of my former self in the context of where I could have been heading. :frown:
I may just end up going to my state university, but it breaks my heart. I really want to go to MIT, but I probably wouldn't have stood a chance anyway even if I was more confident and better off academically.
:sigh:
I'm currently coasting in community college as a part-time student, managing servers whenever I'm awake for Brohoster.

I don't want to go to Arizona State University.

Or even NAU, but I may try to head there instead. I don't know.

Major in physics.
I'm a junior in highschool and I'm having a really hard time approaching how to choose a college
Can anyone help with how to approach choosing a school?
Major in physics.
Can I find a decent job with that major and also math is a bit effy on me since I'm failing trigonometry right now. I love history and all that shit though but difficult to find a well paying major with that.

Is there one you can attend while still living at home to save money?
If yes, if it offers the course you want, and it isn't called ITT Tech, go there.

Physicists make a bit over $100,000 a year at the median. And potentially plenty more if you're well-published.
I failed trig in high school and I'm doing fine with it now.

oh wow now you actually made me to consider majoring physics thanks
Would it be better for me to go to a CC or to try to go to University Of Oklahoma?
Gonna apply to Vanderbilt or University of Tennessee once I get my test scores back, and probably major in psychiatry. I've always been interested in biology and the thought processes of people. I'll be in school for a while...
I am probably headed to the University of Arkansas as undecided
I will be moving 6 or 7 hours away from my home town
Needless to say I am scared shitless
im working on getting scholarships for SCAD. y must u be so expensive!!!
Because colleges know that without them, we can't lead decent lives.

:v:I'm wrong, then tell me.
My college is a bastard. The only time when they make the campus look clean and preety is on visiting day, but do they make it look clean and preety during regular school days when the people who pay out the ass and actually live there are there? No.
And the only time they serve food that tastes better(Its really good) than the junk they serve in the cafeteria is on visiting day or when a bunch of old farts come in for some banquet. But do they serve the good food to the students who pay out the ass for college? No.
I feel like my school is run by some CEO rather than an actual president.

Fuck Ivy Leagues. All the ones I applied to rejected me.
I got accepted to a second tier school, found an amazing group of friends that I plan on keeping for the rest of my life, graduated with a 3.95 GPA, returned for a Master's degree, and I've been accepted to the job of my dreams.
In hindsight, I only wanted to get into an Ivy League school because I didn't know what I actually wanted out of college. I've visited friends who go to Yale and while the school is clearly beautiful, I would have definitely hated it there.
Edit:
Basically, you don't have to go to a school with an amazing reputation in order to stand out in the job market. My school is not known at all for its mathematics (which is my major), but I worked my ass off and still have an awesome resume. Unless you go to an absolutely shitty school, college is mostly what you make of it. A dumbass at an Ivy League is still a dumbass.
