Maybe business or economics?
Hmm, maybe economics.
Whoever is looking at a college, go to this site and type it in. Read the reviews, some of them are so funny and will discourage you from going to that school: http://www.studentsreview.com/
Fuck I hate that site so much you can just tell that every reviewer is completely full of shit one way or another.
A report from 2009-2010 here in Sweden showed that newly examined Computer Engineer students from KTH (the school and programme I'm trying to enter) earn's 5035 USD / month within a year. I am officially exited.
$60k sounds like the average starting US salary of any engineer except for something dumb like civil. [editline]29th March 2011[/editline] Petroleum Engineers are fucking ROLLING IN THE DOUGH
Anyone here taking geology? If so give me info, it's another thing I've been looking into
I have a friend who's doing geology. She gets up at 7 every Saturday to spend 8 hours in a field looking at rocks. For a 2-credit class. [editline]29th March 2011[/editline]
Maybe business or economics?
Economics > business. I took micro and macroeconomics as an elective a while ago and my professor told me I'd have made a good economist. I was the only person in the class with an average over 100%, so I didn't have to take the final. Best part is that the homework was extra credit so everyone worked their asses of doing them. I didn't do a single damn one. If I wasn't a physics major, economics would be next in line, I think.

This coming fall I will be attending UW-Madison for prepharmacy.

Here in Sweden a physician, which is one of the best paid jobs is around 8000 USD / month and that's after you picked your specialization. It takes around 12 years to reach that level. 6 years studies and practical work, then additional years to specialize into a certain field, like brain, heart and so on.
3.0 High School gpa...........I blame video games. At this point I'll be lucky to get into a university at all.
:v: That's a good GPA man.
Cal Poly is a decent engineering school. I grew up in SLO county and worked there for a bit. I've visited Davis when I got accepted there and don't think I could ever live there. The place is as flat as Kansas and gets pretty damn hot. I'd pick SLO. If you aren't from the area you may enjoy it. Davis and Cal Poly seem to have about the same level of things to do in the area. Davis maybe a little moreso since Sac-town is close. I too wanted to get into UCB. I only applied to three schools and go to UCSC
Yeah I've been leaning towards Cal Poly but I think I need to seriously consider all of the other schools and take into account things beyond the education offered, such as financial aid, general dispositions of people in the areas, things to do there, etc. I'm going to visit most of them soon before the May 1 deadline so yeah. Thanks for the perspective of Davis.
United States Naval Academy.
I'm a Computer Science major here at Northeastern University--It's really awesome. You gotta come check it out when you get the chance. Let me know if you stop by!
Ah, okay. No, I'm in Naperville. So, about half an hour from Schaumburg.
Holy shit I'm from Lisle! I never considered the possibilty of another FPer existing in real life.
Holy shit I'm from Lisle! I never considered the possibilty of another FPer existing in real life.
I just never considered the possibility of another FPer existing in the same state as I.
What are the job prospects for someone with a bachelor's in cultural anthropology? "Go for a master's" isn't an answer
welcome to starbucks, may i take your order?
How would you guys consider Sociology as a major? http://www.bls.gov/oco/ - Occupational Outlook Handbook. i highly recommend looking thru it. it lists various careers, recommended career paths with majors, median salaries, advancement in particular career, etc
Are there any other people here majoring in History, I'm beginning to doubt the possible career paths with a MA in History as opposed to Computer Science.
:v: That's a good GPA man.
That really depends. If he's from a school with very high standardized test scores (In the top 5 of the district or around there), then it's still pretty good. However, if his school's standardized test scores are in the toilet, then it doesn't look so good.
Are there any other people here majoring in History, I'm beginning to doubt the possible career paths with a MA in History as opposed to Computer Science.
Unless you love history, don't take it. Waste of money/time.
Unless you love history, don't take it. Waste of money/time.
I'm talking career-wise, not about passion.
What sports are you looking to get into?
I have no idea...I've never done any sports other than Taekwondo as a kid, then I started playing golf. Possibly soccer though, or basketball because I have a couple friends who play and could help me out.
I'm talking career-wise, not about passion.
Teaching is all I can think of.
Teaching is all I can think of.
Well, being a professor was what I was initially wanted to be, but I don't think there's going to open jobs for that.
Is it true that most Psychology/Sociology degrees are just bull?
I'm trying to get my masters in Underwater Crockery Management (Dish washing).
I've been accepted to my Community College. I'm starting there because... 1.) Cheaper 2.) In a kick-ass city 3.) Once I finish my gen ed. there, I can transfer anywhere. 4.) It can help me get an idea on what I want to do with the rest of my life.
Is there really any downside to applying to a metric fuckton of schools, because I have little to no idea of which school I'm actually entering, so it's going to be a shitstorm of applications.
No, other than having to pay application fees at most universities. I know some states have a common application you can send to as many schools as you want.
If your going for Aerospace Engineering, when you eventually go into University and get your license, try and get the European Aircraft License its the hardest in the world and will get you the biggest chance of getting a job as loads of people drop out of it and the US one is easier and more people get through, never, never, go for the Spanish License they hand them out like sticks of gum. If you want any advice feel free to PM me.
Over here on the British side of things, I've got offers from University of Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol to study Physics (4 years). I reckon I'm going to accept Manchester as a firm, Bristol as a backup.

If your school has a good wrestling program, wrestling will really prepare you for PT and it will get you into even better shape. EDIT: Huh, optimistic. I guess someone is a basketball player.
